What makes Lancelot dangerous?
Lancelot can turn a minion wave into a route towards your carry, then use evasive skills to dodge the reply. Your best opening is often a little later than the first instinct to press every button. Wait for the moment he can actually be hit.
Strengths to respect
- Puncture rewards useful dash targets.
- Thorned Rose gives him a brief evasive damage window.
- Phantom Execution combines a committed movement and damage threat.
Openings to exploit
- His targetable moments can be punished by held control.
- Poorly spent movement makes the next approach less flexible.
- A protected carry and an awkward route reduce the value of his mobility.
How to counter Lancelot during a match
Around a wave
Do not stand at the end of an inviting line of dash targets. Make him use a less direct angle and keep your protector within response distance.
Receiving the dive
Move away from the damage area while retaining your catch. Call out the evasive cast so a teammate does not spend their disable into it.
Turning the fight
Commit once he is targetable and the team can reach him. If the catch misses, protect the carry first; a frustrated chase is an excellent second entry for Lancelot.
Defensive items: buy for the actual threat
Antique Cuirass
Situational physical defence against skill pressure; it cannot make a poorly timed control skill connect.
A defensive option for heroes who can afford it; it does not prevent crowd control or magic damage.
Item context ↗Item names, passives and numbers can change. Check the current in-game tooltip and the whole enemy composition before buying.
Common mistakes against Lancelot
- Standing behind a convenient chain of Puncture targets.
- Overlapping all your disables during an evasive cast.
- Picking a difficult counter hero without practising the timing.
