X.Borg MLBB Guide: Two Health Bars, One Bad Temper (Season 42)
He has two health bars, a flamethrower that turns into true damage at full heat, and an ultimate that is just him exploding. The 50.1% arsonist, explained properly.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Turtle pit, minute five, and their tank jungler walks in like he owns the deed. I don't contest the Turtle. I stand at the mouth of the pit and hold one button. Fire Missiles paints him for two full seconds — and keeps painting, because leaving the cone means giving up the objective, and staying means his Temperature climbs until it caps. Overheated. From that tick onward, every skill I own deals True Damage to him, armor or no armor. He cracks my Firaga Armor and feels clever for exactly one roll — I come out of the wreckage immune, ranged, and already spraying the long armorless cone back down the river while my energy ticks home. Thirty-odd seconds later the armor is back — and he's explaining to his team why the EXP laner has two health bars.
That is X.Borg, the Firaga Armor — Eruditio's lab accident, the "Nightmare of Eruditio" and "Child of Disaster" per his own lore, a mine kid fused with the ore that poisoned his town, who burned it down when he found everyone buried. He is feared because he is a zoning argument with a flamethrower: stand in the fire and overheat, or leave and lose the lane, the pit, the tower. He is loved because the loop is honest — no combo exam, just heat, patience, and one ultimate that is literally him exploding. The catch: pop the armor at the wrong moment and he is a squishy ranged kid with regrets.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
- MLBBHub (Season 42, patch 2.2.16a, all ranks, last 7 days, checked 21 October 2026): 50.05% win rate, 0.6% pick rate, 1.84% ban rate — B tier, #64 of 133 heroes.
- MLCounters.app (stats updated 21 October 2026): 50.13% win rate, 0.61% pick, 1.90% ban, #110 overall, meta score 26.50.
- MLBB.io (hero guide, updated October 2026): B tier, 50.1% win rate, 0.6% pick.
- MLCounter.com (page updated 24 August 2026): 50.16% win rate under an S badge no current desk supports — an older snapshot; its matchup table below is the useful part.
The chorus is the tightest of this whole run: 50.05–50.16% win rate, ~0.6% pick, ~1.9% ban — every desk within a tenth of a point of dead average. Patch honesty: X.Borg got no ranked change in Patch 2.2.16 — absent from the verified adjustment list, and I read blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup end to end: his only appearance is in the Brawl mode "Buffed" column, a mode modifier, not a ranked buff. The documented 2.2.16a list (14 Oct 2026: Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no X.Borg either — any claim of a 2.2.16a X.Borg change is [UNCONFIRMED]. His last documented touch on Fandom's patch-history page is Patch 1.6.26, a NERF (base HP 1018 → 918, armor base HP cut with it). Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame X.Borg threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only; timesaver.gg's Season 42 EXP roundup names him a repeated counter to "almost any meta/melee tanky hero."
My tier verdict: B. Dead-average spreadsheet, live B from both current data desks — and a matchup ceiling against stationary melee comps that no 50% hero should own.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 998→2524 — plus a second, separate Armor HP bar of 1197→2723 — Physical Attack 117→232, Movement Speed 260, and no mana: his resource is a 100-point Energy pool. Ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 8, Offense 3, Control Effects 1 (honest: one pull, zero hard CC).
- Passive — Firaga Armor: the armor is the hero. Gear feeds it (+120% Extra HP to the armor, +20% Extra HP to his own HP), and while it stands it absorbs all incoming damage. Destroyed, he disengages and rolls in the joystick direction, immune to damage and control effects during the roll. Armorless, his basics turn ranged (4.2 range, up from 1.8), Fire Missiles narrows and lengthens at 60% damage, Fire Stake reaches further — and Last Insanity is locked. Energy regenerates at 3 per second while armorless; the armor also sheds Firaga Supplies as it takes damage, and collecting them restores energy — 10 per supply armorless, per Patch 1.6.10. At full energy he re-equips the armor, restored to 30% of Armor HP. And the line the kit hangs on, Fandom's words: "X.Borg's skills deal True Damage in Overheated state" — his fire raises enemy Temperature, and a target whose Temperature caps is Overheated.
- Skill 1 — Fire Missiles: a 2-second spray dealing 25–100 (+60% Total Physical Attack) (+40% Total Magic Power) Physical Damage 7 times, 75–100% of it to minions by rank. Flat 4.0s cooldown. Fandom's note: only high- and ultimate-level control effects interrupt it — your stun does not stop the hose.
- Skill 2 — Fire Stake: he fires 5 stakes to the edge of a fan and retrieves them after 1.7 seconds; each pass deals 50–100 (+20% Total Physical Attack) and pulls enemies in the path toward him, with a micro-stun on retrieval (Fandom note, Patch 1.7.58). Stakes also retrieve Firaga Supplies they touch. Cooldown 12.0→9.0s.
- Ultimate — Last Insanity: he charges forward spinning and spraying for 3 seconds — 12 hits, a 25% slow, an extra 40% slow on the first hero he collides with, and control immunity throughout. At the end (or on recast) the armor detonates for 300–700 (+15% of the enemy's Total HP) True Damage; if the armor is destroyed before it can self-detonate, the explosion deals only 50%. The detonation dashes him out in the joystick direction, strips his debuffs, and leaves him armorless. Cooldown 30/27/24s, costs his full 100 Energy, unusable while armorless. One honest flag: Fandom's page argues with itself here — its description prints 90–110 (+130% Extra Physical Attack) (+90% Total Magic Power) per hit while its level table prints Base Damage 200 / 225 / 250. Both are quoted here; plan around the table.
Skill priority, my way: Fire Missiles first — the clear, the poke and the Temperature engine in one (MLBBHub and the heritage guides agree) — Last Insanity at 4/8/12, Fire Stake second.
Combos
- The slow cook (his whole lane): take the diagonal angle on the wave so the cone clips the minions and the enemy laner together (MLBBHub's laning drill). You are not bursting anyone — you are running their Temperature to the cap while your armor eats the reply. Once they're Overheated, every further tick is True Damage and the trade stops being a trade.
- The leash: mid-spray, cast Fire Stake — it fires during Fire Missiles and Last Insanity. The stakes drag the runner back into the cone and haul your dropped Firaga Supplies home: the target stays in the fire and the armor cycle restarts.
- The cash-out: Last Insanity only after the exits are spent — their dash down, a wall behind them, your roam's CC already landed (MLBBHub: "ult after the exit closes"). Spin through the clump, recast early if the kill is there, and ride the exit dash out.
- The armorless kite: armor popped is not a death sentence — it's a range change. Back off in the long, narrow 60%-damage cone, collect supplies and let the 3-per-second tick rebuild the bar. Chasing you is how laners donate kills.
Rotation and map control
EXP lane is home — every current desk files him there (MLBBHub, MLBB.io, MLCounters.app, MLCounter all agree); jungle is a creator-scene flex with Season 42 build videos behind it, not a desk school. Diagonal spray angles, Fire Stake saved until supplies exist to steal, and level 4 on time for the first Turtle — zoning the pit mouth, not diving the jungler.
His spike is War Axe + Brute Force Breastplate, around minutes 8–11 (MLBBHub): before it he is an annoyance with a second bar; after it he decides where the enemy frontline may stand. In fights he plays the hinge — the tile enemy bruisers must cross to reach his carry — cooking the frontline first and cashing Last Insanity out second. The rotation sin is leaving lane on a bad wave (MLBBHub's listed game-loser): push first, then move. And a popped armor is map information: for roughly the next half-minute he is a ranged poker collecting supplies, not a frontline.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Core: War Axe → Brute Force Breastplate → Oracle. MLBBHub locks the shape: War Axe is "the non-negotiable first real item" — HP, cooldown reduction, spell vamp, and a stacking passive that Fire Missiles and Last Insanity feed unusually fast, adding true damage on top of the Overheated conversion. Brute Force stacks alongside it (movement speed, adaptive attack, control-duration reduction at full stacks), and MLBBHub's FAQ names Oracle third — its shield/regen amp makes every supply pickup pay more. Boots are matchup boots: Tough Boots default into magic poke and chain CC, Warrior Boots into physical EXP lanes. Flex after the core: Dominance Ice vs sustain comps, Immortality as first-body insurance, Hunter Strike when ahead, Ice Queen Wand when your team lacks stickiness, Queen's Wings into crack-the-armor drafts. The behind-game fallback is War Axe + Immortality (MLBBHub) — worse pressure, live first fight.
Emblem: Fighter — MLBBHub's row is Firmness / Festival of Blood / Brave Smite; no current desk I checked leads with Assassin on him. Battle spell: Flicker (MLBBHub's FAQ pick; the heritage guides agree). Spend it in the armorless window, not before it: the passive roll is the first bailout, Flicker is the second. No current desk leads with Vengeance — a brawl-lobby flex, not a sourced school.
How to counter him
Measured edges first, four desks deep. MLBBHub's counter data gives Yve, Benedetta and Floryn the biggest measured edges, and its guide text names the structural answer: Esmeralda — Firaga Armor is exactly the kind of shield her kit steals, converting his second bar into her HP (ONE Esports and VCGamers agree). MLCounters.app (updated 21 Oct 2026) leads with Zilong, Helcurt and Natalia — burst that deletes both bars in one window — and MLBB.io concurs on Zilong, Benedetta and Helcurt. MLCounter's matchup rows add the grind answers: X.Borg wins just 43% into Baxia (733 games) — anti-heal printed on a passive, taxing every supply and heal — 44% into Benedetta (890), 45% into Lunox (190), 46% into Yu Zhong (521). MLBBHub's draft warnings add Chou and Gloo: displacement ruins his spacing; Gloo punishes the popped armor.
The anti-playbook writes itself from the kit: crack the armor, then re-engage inside the window. Energy only ticks at 3 per second while he's armorless, so a popped armor is roughly a half-minute of ranged poker collecting supplies — dive the real body then, not the armor. Don't clump for the spray or the detonation, and don't linger in the cone for one last-hit. Items: the anti-heal slot — Dominance Ice, Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand (MLCounters.app) — plus penetration (Malefic Roar, Genius Wand, Divine Glaive, MLCounter) and Twilight Armor / Antique Cuirass against the multi-hit spray.
Respect the reverse list: he eats heroes who must stand still inside the burn. MLCounters.app files Barats, Terizla and Martis as his prey, and MLCounter's rows have him beating Khufra 58% (358 games), Miya 57% (846), Kimmy 54% (509). He is also MLBBHub's measured answer into Ruby and a top-three measured problem for Balmond — the tax on any "walk at him slowly, sustain forever" draft.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Opener Ult": pressing Last Insanity as the first button because the enemy looked grouped (MLBBHub's headline sin). They disengage, crack the armor early, and collapse on the armorless body. The ult ends arguments; it doesn't start them.
- "The Half-Price Bomb": detonating on a nearly broken armor (MLBBHub's named trap). If the armor dies before the self-detonation lands, the explosion pays 50% — ult, armor and fight spent on a rounding error.
- "The Prayer Stake": fishing with Fire Stake before any Firaga Supplies exist (MLBBHub). A raw miss removes your refill line and tells the laner the next trade is free.
- "The Marksman Chase": sprinting through open space after a fleeing backline (MLBBHub: "You are not Hayabusa"). His value is the ground he makes expensive — hold the choke, keep cooking the frontline.
- "The Naked Rotation": leaving lane on a bad wave, or rotating armorless to "help" a fight (MLBBHub's rotation rule). You arrive late, underfarmed, at half a hero.
FAQ
- Did Patch 2.2.16 change X.Borg? No ranked change — absent from the verified adjustment list, and blooing's full roundup mentions him only in the Brawl "Buffed" column, a mode rule. The 2.2.16a list has no X.Borg either; contrary claims are [UNCONFIRMED]. Fandom's patch-history page tops out at Patch 1.6.26's nerf.
- How does Overheated actually work? His fire damage raises the target's Temperature; at the cap the target is Overheated, and — Fandom's exact words — "X.Borg's skills deal True Damage in Overheated state." It's a stacking argument, not a burst window: leave the cone and the argument resets.
- EXP lane or jungle? EXP, per every current desk. Jungle X.Borg exists in the Season 42 creator scene; no data desk files it as the school.
- Flicker or Vengeance? Flicker — MLBBHub's FAQ answer and the heritage consensus, because it patches the armorless window, the one moment he can actually die. No current desk leads with Vengeance.
- Why did my ultimate do no damage? Check the armor. A Last Insanity whose armor is destroyed before the detonation pays half damage, and a walked-out spin pays nothing. Cook first, close the exits, then explode.
Final verdict
X.Borg in Season 42 is a B-tier spreadsheet wrapped around an A-tier argument. The average game earns every decimal of that 50.05–50.16% chorus. The specialist game is something else: a hero who picks the ground, heats the frontline past the cap, turns his own damage true, and then explodes as the encore. He doesn't outplay drafts; he out-waits them. If the enemy has to stand somewhere — a pit, a choke, a tower — X.Borg is the toll booth, and Season 42's tank-heavy EXP meta keeps driving traffic straight through him.
Play him if: the enemy draft is melee, stationary or sustain-based; your team brings the lockdown he lacks (his Control rating is 1 and it shows); and you'll cook a fight for ten seconds before getting loud in it.
Skip him if: the enemy shows Esmeralda, Baxia or a burst lane that cracks armor on first contact; your team needs the EXP laner to start fights alone; or you'll ult on instinct. Broken armor, spent detonation, open ground — that's how X.Borg dies.
