Martis MLBB Guide: One Execute, Five Corpses (Season 42)
The Shura King enters second, spins through your stuns, and turns one execute into five. The full kit, the War Axe spike, and the suppression that ends him.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Lord pit, minute fifteen, and I am the problem nobody budgeted for. My tank eats the first stun wave, their mage burns her combo into my roamer, and I walk in *second* — at maybe 60% health, Mortal Coil spinning, unbothered by the panic CC thrown at me because during that cast I am control-immune with 60% damage reduction. Their marksman is at 40%. Decimation. Dead. The ult resets, my movement speed doubles, and now their support is at 45% and running the wrong way. Decimation again — 15% harder this time. That is the Martis experience from the other side: a fight you were winning becomes a loading screen for a pentakill, one execute at a time.
Martis, the Ashura King — the first Shura to conquer the Three Thousand Worlds, per his Fandom story, with Gatotkaca the only being who ever fought him to a draw. He is feared because his kit is a cleanup engine with an invulnerability window welded on: a pull, an unstoppable blender, and the game's most famous kill-reset execute. He is loved because landing the chain feels like being the final boss of somebody else's highlight reel. But everything he owns is a *window* — miss it, and he is a 47% win rate fighter standing in the open with his swords down.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
- MLBBHub (Season 42, patch 2.2.16a, all ranks, last 7 days, checked 21 October 2026): 47.18% win rate, 0.61% pick rate, 0.44% ban rate — C tier, #118 of 133 heroes.
- MLBBDex (tier list, patch 2.2.16, updated 19 October 2026): C tier — Martis Jungle/EXP at 47.1% win rate, 0.6% pick, 0.5% ban.
- Pocket Gamer (October 2026 tier list): D among Fighters — the harshest letter he gets anywhere, editorial rather than measured.
- MLCounter.com (page updated June 2026): a 50.89% headline with an A badge no current desk supports — stale; I use its matchup table below, not its average.
The chorus: 47.1–47.2% win rate, ~0.6% pick, ~0.45% ban. Patch honesty: Martis got no ranked change in Patch 2.2.16 — absent from the verified adjustment list, and I read blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup end to end this week: his only appearance is the Brawl mode "Toned Down" column, a mode modifier, not a ranked nerf. The documented 2.2.16a list (14 Oct 2026: Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela nerfs) has no Martis either, and that patch has no Fandom page — any contrary claim is [UNCONFIRMED]. His paper trail is genuinely old: Fandom's patch-history page tops out at Patch 1.6.66 (March 2022), a Skill 2 buff — and even that page is incomplete, since the live numbers have since drifted past it. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Martis threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only.
My tier verdict: C+. C-tier paperwork on both data desks, and I won't dress it up — but he is the most draft-conditional C on the board: a planned answer to soft-CC burst comps that plays a full tier higher the moment the enemy shows no suppression.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2738→5594, Physical Attack 128→250, Movement Speed 260 — and no mana at all (Fandom prints Mana 0); his resources are cooldowns and nerve. Ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 6, Offense 3, Control Effects 5. One spelling warning: Fandom prints Asura — Asura's Wrath, Asura Aura — while half the mirror sites print "Ashura" and quote retired numbers (a 15%-per-cast passive, a 650-damage ult). The live page governs; the mirrors are a patch generation behind.
- Passive — Asura's Wrath: every skill cast adds 30% Attack Speed for 4 seconds, stacking to +120% — and at full stacks he gains (6 × Hero Level) extra Attack. Mortal Coil's first phase alone triggers 3 stacks (Fandom's note), so one full rotation puts him at the cap.
- Skill 1 — Asura Aura: he draws enemies in a fan in front of him toward him and deals 350–650 (+130% Extra Physical Attack), slowing them 40% for 2 seconds. Cooldown 7.0→5.0s. Fine print (Fandom): the cast nudges him forward, so it counts as a blink — disabled inside Minsitthar's King's Calling, and it feeds Phoveus's passive. The pull is the setup; everything else is the payoff.
- Skill 2 — Mortal Coil: three strikes in the target direction, each 225–300 (+120% Extra Physical Attack); the first and third strikes knock back, and the direction can be changed once mid-cast. Use Again: he leaps in the target direction for 300–400 (+150% Extra Physical Attack), knocking enemies airborne. While casting he has Control Immunity and 60% Damage Reduction — and Fandom is explicit: the skill can only be interrupted by Suppression. Flat 8.0s cooldown, which starts after the first or second phase.
- Ultimate — Decimation: he lunges at a designated enemy hero for 700–1100 (+120% Total Physical Attack) — dealt as True Damage if the target is below 50% HP. A kill with it lets him recast within 10 seconds and grants +100% Movement Speed decaying over 5 seconds; each successive cast deals +15% more damage, up to +30%. Cooldown 36/32/28s — and it only starts once he eliminates, or tries to eliminate, a hero. Fandom notes the execute mark appears under enemies below 40% HP, the dash *can* be CC'd mid-flight, and killing a hero who then resurrects (Immortality, Faramis) still pays the reset.
Skill priority, my way: Decimation at 4/8/12. Mortal Coil maxed first — it is the immunity window, the wave clear and most of his damage in one button. Asura Aura second; its cooldown drop (7.0→5.0s) is a luxury next to the blender.
Combos
- The second-wave entry (the whole hero): your initiator eats the first CC rotation → Asura Aura pulls the clump together and slows it → Mortal Coil through them, immune, while your basics stack Asura's Wrath to the cap → Decimation on the first sub-50% target → recast, reposition during the speed burst, Decimation again. Enter first and you are just a fighter with his window already spent.
- The lane trade: Aura to pull the laner *and* the wave onto one point, Mortal Coil's three strikes (the knockbacks keep them in basic range), re-press the leap *through* them if they run, basics at full passive stacks. His EXP trades are short and rude — he is not built to stand and slap for twenty seconds.
- The objective contest (jungle): hold Mortal Coil for the Retribution window (creator school, VCGamers): as the objective crosses last-hit range, spin — control-immune, knocking the enemy jungler back — and smite through the chaos. The re-press leap is then your exit or your chase.
- The exit, always loaded: the re-press leaps in *any* direction. Good Martis players point it backward the moment the focus turns — the three strikes already paid. Dying with the leap unpressed is the tax on greed.
Rotation and map control
Both desks file him Jungle and EXP (MLBBHub, MLBBDex) — jungle is the tempo home, EXP the snowball lane. Either way the shape is identical: farm quietly to the spike, then live in the second wave of every fight. His early game is honest but fragile — MLCounter's counter page flatly advises bullying and ganking him before his items land, and it is right. Before War Axe he loses most fair 1v1s; after it, sustain plus Mortal Coil's damage reduction flips exchanges against anyone without suppression (MLBBHub).
The spike is War Axe + Endless Battle, typically online around minutes 9–12 (MLBBHub): two independent true-damage sources in one rotation, plus the HP bulk his post-spin seconds need. Force objectives on that timing. Late, his map job is not split-pushing — MLBBHub is blunt that he has no reliable escape once Mortal Coil is spent. He hovers at the edge of his team's fights like a debt collector: close enough that the first enemy execute window is his, far enough that nobody opens on him.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Core: War Axe → Endless Battle → Queen's Wings (MLBBHub's FAQ names exactly these three; its guide body locks the first two and referees the rest). Boots: Tough Boots by default — his danger zone is the seconds *after* Mortal Coil ends, and 30% shorter CC is survival math; Warrior Boots only into four-plus physical sources with little control (MLBBHub). Flex after the core: Brute Force Breastplate for extended fights, Oracle into burst mages, Antique Cuirass into physical burst, Guardian Helmet when behind; Blade of Despair is a closer on a lead, not a default — its below-50% passive layers with Decimation's conversion on the exact targets you're already ulting (MLBBHub). One trap worth naming: some current build pages still route him through Bloodlust Axe — an item removed from the shop; War Axe is the spell-vamp-era core now.
Emblem: a real split, printed both ways. MLBBHub's FAQ and guide body run Fighter — Rupture / Festival of Blood / Brave Smite. Its own curated build cards run Assassin on both the Jungle "Reset Tempo" and EXP "Execute Snowball" loadouts, and blooing's desk independently recommends Assassin (Rupture / Weapon Master / Killing Spree). My call: Fighter for the bruiser default, Assassin when your draft already has a frontline. Battle spell: Flicker is MLBBHub's FAQ pick — the correction tool for the post-spin seconds. The snowball card runs Execute to widen the Decimation threshold; Retribution is jungle-mandatory. Vengeance appears in no current Martis core I found.
How to counter him
The measured podium, two desks deep. MLBBHub's FAQ names X.Borg, Minsitthar and Balmond as his biggest measured problems — true damage and sustain that out-last the window, a cage that deletes his movement skills, and a blender that simply out-trades him. MLCounter's matchup table (older snapshot, real games) agrees from the suppression side: Martis wins just 41% into Kaja (183 games), 44% into Franco (178), 45% into Minsitthar (256), 47% into Baxia.
- Suppression is the hard answer. Control Immunity excludes it by design — Fandom says Mortal Coil "can only be interrupted by Suppression." Franco's Bloody Hunt and Kaja's Divine Judgment go straight through the spin (MLBBHub's first warning), and Minsitthar's King's Calling is the second veto: it locks out the re-press leap *and* Decimation's lunge, stranding him (MLBBHub).
- Phoveus is the structural tax. Every dash Mortal Coil generates feeds Astaros' Gaze — MLBBHub calls him a near-automatic counter and Martis one of his cleanest matchups. (MLCounter's older row reads 49% into Phoveus, 167 games — bad, if not the stomp the current desk describes; both printed, current desk governs.)
- Burst him after the window. His vulnerability is a timetable: CC him in the seconds after Mortal Coil ends, keep your HP above 50% so Decimation stays physical, never stand in the fan for Asura Aura. Items: Dominance Ice (attack-speed tax), Antique Cuirass / Twilight Armor (MLCounter), Wind of Nature, Winter Crown.
Who he eats is the mirror: soft-CC comps and clustered low-HP backlines. MLCounter has him beating Pharsa 57% (173 games), Helcurt 57% (111), Miya 55% (122), Zhask 54% (213) — and MLCounter's Edith table puts *her* at 41% into Martis across 570 games. If your team's lockdown is slows and stuns, he doesn't see crowd control. He sees scenery.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The First Man In": opening the fight with Mortal Coil because you're impatient (MLBBHub's positioning thesis). The immunity is worth nothing against skills already used — enter second, after the first CC wave whiffs into your tank.
- "The Full-HP Execute": Decimation on a 70%-HP carry because he's the "priority target" (MLBBHub). Above 50% it's ordinary physical damage into armor. Sequence by HP bar, not by fame: the 40% support funds the recast that kills the carry.
- "The Camp Tax": spinning through a jungle camp just before the fight (MLBBHub). You arrive with no immunity window — a fighter-shaped apology. Clear, wait out the cooldown, then rotate.
- "The Glass Cannon": pure damage, zero HP items (MLBBHub). He has no shield and no passive regen; his sustain *is* his health bar. The core's bulk is not a style choice.
- "The Solo Push": split-pushing alone mid-game (MLBBHub). After Mortal Coil he has no exit, and two rotating enemies turn your pressure into shutdown gold. He is a teamfighter, not a Zilong.
FAQ
- Did Patch 2.2.16 change Martis? No ranked change — absent from the verified adjustment list; blooing's full roundup mentions him only in the Brawl "toned down" column, a mode rule. The 2.2.16a list has no Martis either; contrary claims are [UNCONFIRMED]. Fandom's patch-history page tops out at Patch 1.6.66 (2022).
- What actually stops Mortal Coil? Suppression — Franco's Bloody Hunt, Kaja's Divine Judgment. Fandom: the spin "can only be interrupted by Suppression," and his Control Immunity excludes it. Everything else, you hold until the cast ends.
- Jungle or EXP lane? Both are live (MLBBHub and MLBBDex file both). Jungle for tempo and objectives; EXP for Execute-snowball school. Roam is a costume, not a lane.
- Fighter or Assassin emblem? Fighter is MLBBHub's stated default (Rupture / Festival of Blood / Brave Smite); Assassin is what its own curated snowball and jungle cards run, and blooing agrees. Take Assassin when someone else is the frontline.
- Why does my Decimation do no damage? Because the target was above 50% HP and wearing armor — up there it's 700–1100 physical, not the execute. The skill is a receipt, not an opener: soften them with Aura and Coil first, then let the threshold do the work.
Final verdict
Martis is a win condition wearing a C-tier costume. The desks land at 47% because the average Martis game includes the drafts he should never have survived — the Franco lobbies, the Phoveus last-picks, the first-man-in charges that spend his one miracle on nothing. Strip those away and he is the cleanest cleanup engine in the fighter class: an unstoppable spin, a pull that gathers the victims, and an execute that pays you a second execute for spending the first correctly. He doesn't win the fight. He ends it — five times in a row, at +15% a head.
Play him if: the enemy draft is soft-CC and burst-timed, your team brings a real initiator to eat the first rotation, and you have the patience to be the second man into every fight you win.
Skip him if: the enemy shows Franco, Kaja, Minsitthar or Phoveus; your team needs *you* to start fights; or you can't resist ulting the full-HP carry. Martis with his window spent early is just a man with two swords and a 36-second wait.
