Edith MLBB Guide: The Tank Is the Ammunition (Season 42)

A tank whose armor turns into magic power the second she ejects from her mech. Edith's 2.2.16 buff, the Wrath rules, the build — and why a 52.6% win rate still isn't a blind pick.

Why she's feared (and loved)

My favourite Edith moment: The enemy EXP laner and his jungler dump everything into my mech — full combo, ult, the works. Phylax eats all of it. And while they're "winning," a red bar under my health fills — Wrath charges off damage taken. Then I press one button. Edith ejects clean over the wall, and for ten seconds the tank they just failed to kill is a flying marksman whose basics melt people — because every point of defense I built just converted into magic power. They lost that fight while they were hitting me.

That's Edith, the Forsaken Warden: the game's first Tank/Marksman (released 24 December 2021), riding her mech Phylax like a battery — two heroes, one health bar, and the switch is the entire skill test. Moonton rates her Control Effects 10 and her Offense 3 — the game's funniest lie once the Wrath bar is full. She punishes the most natural instinct in MOBAs: hitting the big slow tank. With Edith, that's how you load her gun.

Season 42 viability: the honest read

The stat desks agree on her season's shape even where they argue about the letter:

  • MLBBHub (ranked data refreshed daily, checked 21 October 2026): 52.6% win rate, 0.3% pick rate, 0.2% ban rate. Nobody bans her; the few who pick her are winning.
  • MLBB.io (data updated 20 October 2026): 52.5% win rate, 0.3% pick rate — tier printed B, down from A. Build sample: Flicker in 57% of tracked builds, Tank emblem in 5 of 7.
  • MLBBDex (tier list, October 2026, patch 2.2.16): A tier, identical 52.6% / 0.3% / 0.2% scoreline.
  • blooing (build guide updated 20 September 2026 for patch 2.2.16): B tier, colder at 50.7% win rate, better Epic→Mythical Honor than at Mythical Glory.
  • LootBar (guide updated 17 August 2026): around 50.8% win rate, "a solid situational pick rather than a priority hero" — a pre-buff snapshot.

The chorus is 52.5–52.6% on current desks, 50.7–50.8% on colder windows. No fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Edith threads surfaced — this read is tracker and creator material only, and I'd rather say so than dress it up. My read: a specialist's win rate on a forgotten hero, buffed where she was clunky. Not a blind pick — a loaded answer to specific drafts. (Pocket Gamer even says S/S+: editorial fame.)

My tier verdict: B+.

The full kit: what every button does

All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2549 (5489 at level 15). Moonton's ratings: Offense 3, Durability 7, Control Effects 10, Difficulty 4.

  • Passive — Overload: After each skill cast, Edith and Phylax are Overloaded for 3 seconds, and every basic attack in that window triggers chain lightning dealing extra Magic Damage equal to (+30% Total Magic Power) plus 4–8% of the target's Total HP, jumping to up to 4 enemies. Against minions the chain damage rises to 150%, and the chain counts as skill damage.
  • Skill 1 (Phylax) — Earth Shatter: After a 0.75-second delay, Phylax slams the target direction for 225–450 (+10% Total HP) Physical Damage, 120% against minions and creeps, knocking enemies airborne for 1 second. Only Suppression can interrupt it. Cooldown 8.5s at rank 1, falling to 6.5s.
  • Skill 1 (Flight) — Divine Retribution: A target area takes 170–320 (+40% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage plus a 30% slow, then keeps burning enemies inside for 68–128 (+16% Total Magic Power) every 0.5 seconds over 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 5.0–3.5s — a long flight casts it twice.
  • Skill 2 (Phylax) — Onward: Phylax charges in the target direction (cannot pass obstacles), dealing 90–140 (+3% Total HP) Physical Damage along the way. If it hits an enemy hero, it stops dead and throws them over its shoulder for a flat 108 (+5% Total HP) Physical Damage. Flat 10.0s cooldown at every rank.
  • Skill 2 (Flight) — Lightning Bolt: A skillshot dealing 150–300 (+50% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to the first enemy hero hit, immobilizing them for 0.8 seconds. Flat 10.0s cooldown.
  • Ultimate — Primal Wrath: Passive: inside Phylax, Edith accumulates Wrath from damage received, calculated before damage reduction. Active: she ejects herself forward, knocking back nearby enemies, and takes flight for up to 8/10/12 seconds by rank (cooldown 40/37/34s), gaining ranged basics dealing 35–65 (+75% Total Physical Attack) (+25% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage. In flight she gains a Wrath-scaled shield (350–650 base plus 5% of her Total HP at empty Wrath, up to 20% at full), 50–150% extra Attack Speed and 5–20% Hybrid Lifesteal — and the headline: each point of Extra Physical Defense and Extra Magic Defense converts into 3.5 Magic Power. Wrath drains after 5s out of combat (10% every 0.5s) and persists through death; the flight can be cancelled early.

Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026) buffed her, and one flag matters: the hero page above is stale on Wrath. The Patch Notes 2.2.16 text (BUFF ↑, "Slightly increased Edith's initiative and flexibility") adds three effects the hero page does not print: inside Phylax she now also gains Wrath by dealing skill damage to targets, not only by being hit; she gains extra Movement Speed while flying; and she can now pass through walls when ejecting. The same note removes damage from the eject's knockback. The patch governs — her printed numbers are unchanged and current. Blooing's roundup cross-checks all three. Footnotes: her Mythical Honor values were reverted to standard; Brawl raised her damage taken +2% → +4% — mode rules, not ranked changes. Patch 2.2.16a (14 October 2026) has no Fandom page; its documented list (Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Edith — any claim she was touched there is [UNCONFIRMED].

Skill priority, my way: Earth Shatter first (the only mech cooldown that shrinks), Onward second, Primal Wrath at 4, 8, 12. In flight: Divine Retribution on cooldown, Lightning Bolt for the runner.

Combos

  • The delivery (Phylax bread and butter): Onward → the shoulder throw drops them behind you → Earth Shatter where they land → basic while airborne. The throw pins first, which matters: Earth Shatter's 0.75s delay lets any dash hero walk out of a raw cast. Pin, slam — the Overload chain and Thunder Belt proc land on a target that cannot move.
  • The second act (full-Wrath eject): Fight in Phylax first — throw, slam, soak — until Wrath is at least half, then eject. In flight: Divine Retribution on the clump, basics on the nearest squishy, Lightning Bolt for the flasher.
  • The wall finish (new in 2.2.16): A low target escapes over a wall mid-fight — eject (it crosses terrain now) and finish them in flight. Don't burn it on a full-HP target: you land in flight form, squishy, on the wrong side of a wall.
  • The Flicker slam: Flicker behind a fleeing laner, Earth Shatter where they're running to — raw casts get walked through by every dash in the game (MLBBHub).

Rotation and map control

Play her EXP first, roam second — every current desk lists EXP as the primary home, roam the flex when your team already has a sidelane tank. In EXP, the first four minutes have one job (MLBBHub's laning school): level 4 and a charged Wrath bar by the first Turtle. Earth Shatter at level 1 clears the melee wave with Overload basics. Trade on purpose: since 2.2.16 your own skill damage charges Wrath too, so every landed Earth Shatter and Onward is charge twice over — and a free hit taken is charge earned.

Respect the drain: Wrath leaks after 5 seconds out of combat (10% every half second), so don't arrive early and stand in a bush — time the walk so the fight starts while the bar is fat. At objectives, front in Phylax, force the enemy to spend cooldowns into your Wrath bar, and eject as the second act: their burst down and your bar full is when Edith becomes the highest-damage player in the pit. Plan the landing — flight ends by dropping you into Phylax with an empty bar, so drift home while flight time remains; the new flight speed lets you leave early and keep firing on the way out.

Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)

The build writes itself: defense items are damage items that also keep you alive, so you shop like a tank and hit like a mage.

  • Tough Boots → Thunder Belt → Oracle → Dominance Ice is the locked spine: MLBBHub's FAQ core and LootBar's EXP build run the identical four in the identical order. Thunder Belt is the spike: its proc scales off your stacked defense, and once boots plus belt land (roughly 7–8 minutes per MLBBHub) every Earth Shatter into a basic is a true-damage slap with a near-total slow.
  • Flex slots (all MLBBHub calls, all still converting): Brute Force Breastplate vs chained CC (control-duration reduction in flight); Athena's Shield vs burst mage; Radiant Armor vs sustained magic; Antique Cuirass vs triple-physical.
  • Feather of Heaven is the one damage item allowed (LootBar fifth), bought after the battery exists. Immortality is the standard late closer on both desks.
  • The trap, plainly: don't build her like a marksman or a mage. MLBBHub warns against Blood Wings and Holy Crystal by name: flat magic power scales worse than free conversion, and gold on glass is shield she doesn't have.

Emblem: Tank — Vitality, Tenacity, Concussive Blast (MLBBHub and LootBar agree exactly; MLBB.io builds run Tank 5 of 7). Battle spell: Flicker — both desks default it, MLBB.io's sample has it at 57% with Flameshot the 29% minority. Vengeance is a legacy school no current desk leads with; since 2.2.16 the eject is her reposition tool.

How to counter her

  • Lolita and Beatrix are the measured answers. MLBBHub names Lolita, Beatrix and Baxia as her worst measured matchups; MLBB.io independently leads with Lolita and Beatrix. Lolita's shield eats basic-attack projectiles — Edith's entire flight form — so the veto is structural. One honest disagreement: MLCounter's Lolita page prints Lolita winning only 41% of that head-to-head (433 games) — a desk fight, not a settled fact. I'm showing you both.
  • Beatrix shows in MLCounter's rows too: Edith wins just 45% of 472 games into her. Burst her in flight, where she has a marksman's body.
  • Martis is her worst lane row on MLCounter: Edith wins 41% of 570 games into him, with Thamuz (44%), Wanwan (47%) and Minsitthar (48%) behind. Sustained EXP brawlers out-trade her slow early cooldowns.
  • Karrie's true damage ignores the whole battery. Lightwheel Mark burns a percentage of her Max HP as true damage (MLBBHub), straight through her defense, conversion and flight shield.
  • Poke-siege starves her. Xavier, Valentina and Pharsa (MLBBHub's draft warnings) chip Phylax from a range she cannot answer, forcing a thin-Wrath eject or a grounded beating.
  • Who she counters: drafts that must walk at her. MLCounter has her beating Popol and Kupa (57%), Benedetta (56%), Phoveus (55%), Mathilda (54%) and Paquito (52%) — skirmishers who must enter Onward range to play, get thrown over a shoulder, then eat a flight form they can't outrun. Immobile backlines are her prey: the mech zones them, the eject crosses their wall, and the tank they itemized against is suddenly magic damage.

Mistakes everyone makes

  • "The Panic Eject": Your carry is dying, so you eject on an empty Wrath bar to save them. A low-Wrath flight has a fraction of the shield, attack speed and lifesteal of a charged one, and since 2.2.16 the eject's knockback deals no damage — no burst to fall back on. You save nobody and die at zero Wrath. Below half a bar, stay in Phylax and peel. (MLBBHub's #1 Edith mistake.)
  • "The Wave-Clear Slam": Burning Earth Shatter on a wave feels great — until the enemy jungler arrives and your only lockdown is on cooldown. Overload's 150% minion chain clears waves fine. Save the slam for people.
  • "The Karrie Chase": Chasing Karrie in flight form because you're "the tank." Her marks burn Max HP as true damage — defense, conversion and shield are all irrelevant to it. Throw her into your team instead. Never duel her in the air.
  • "The Full-Marksman Delusion": Building attack-speed and magic items like she's a real marksman. You delete the tank half and starve the conversion. Defense first — Feather of Heaven is a garnish, not a meal.
  • "The Last-Second Landing": One final basic at maximum depth, then the form ends: Phylax, zero Wrath, a 40-second ult cooldown, and good enemies counting that timer louder than you. Disengage while flight time remains.

FAQ

  • EXP lane or roam? EXP first — MLBBHub, MLBB.io and MLBBDex all list EXP as her primary home, roam the flex.
  • Why does a marksman build tank items? Because Primal Wrath converts each point of Extra Physical and Magic Defense into 3.5 Magic Power. On Edith a defense item is simultaneously armor and a magic-power item — that exchange rate is why pure damage builds underperform.
  • When exactly do I eject? As the fight's second act — Phylax combo done, Wrath at least half full, enemy burst spent. Never as an escape.
  • What did patch 2.2.16 actually change? Mechanics, not numbers. Wrath now also charges from skill damage dealt inside Phylax, the eject crosses walls, flight gained movement speed, and the eject's knockback lost its damage. The Fandom hero page still prints the old received-damage-only Wrath rule — the patch note governs.
  • Who should I never pick her into? Lolita and Beatrix (her worst measured matchups on two desks), Karrie (true damage ignores her conversion), and poke-siege comps that never enter Onward range. Two of those on the enemy draft — pick a cleaner frontliner.

Final verdict

Edith answers a question most drafts don't know they're asking: what if the frontline was also the magic damage? Patch 2.2.16 fixed her three worst frictions — Wrath that needed the enemy's cooperation, an eject walls could block, a flight form that couldn't chase or leave — and the stat desks noticed first: 52.6% win rate, 0.2% ban rate. She demands more than the average tank — two forms, a resource that punishes passivity, a landing planned twelve seconds ahead — and in exchange gives a draft piece nobody else replicates. The mech is not her vehicle. The mech is her ammunition.

Play her if: you like frontliners with a carry's second act, your team needs magic damage without surrendering the frontline, and you'll learn Wrath timing as a real skill — she hard-rewards players who treat getting hit as a resource.

Skip her if: you want a simple, honest tank; you panic-eject; or the enemy draft already shows Lolita, Beatrix or a poke-siege comp, where cleaner frontliners do her job without the exam.
