Belerick MLBB Guide: Hitting Him Is the Mistake (Season 42)
A 52% win rate and a 56% ban rate on a hero whose damage plan is being attacked. Belerick in Season 42: the thorns, the taunts, builds and counters.
Their Claude does what Claudes do at the Lord pit: Dexterity pops, both guns come up, and he unloads his entire personality into the nearest tank. The nearest tank is me. Every 50 points of damage he deals rolls my Deadly Thorns — and wins, often enough, a thorn back for 1.8% of my Max HP. By the time his confidence runs dry, his own health bar has filed the complaint. Nature's Strike tops me back up, Wrath of Dryad wraps him in vines and *taunts* him — he has to keep shooting me — and my team collects him while he pays for every bullet twice.
That's Belerick. Welcome in. He's the Guard of Nature, an ancient treant who once wrapped his own burning body around the Elves' Tree of Life and reincarnated from a single seed (Fandom's story). Season 42 never touched him, and the trackers have him winning ~52% of his games on a 1.7% pick rate — with a ~56% ban rate. The most feared tree in ranked is one almost nobody plays.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Deadly Thorns makes attacking him a transaction. For every 50 damage he takes he has a 25% chance to fire a thorn at the nearest enemy — magic damage scaling off his Max HP — and the passive inflates all HP he gets from equipment and emblems by 30%. Basic-attack carries don't outplay that. They invoice themselves. Layer his two taunts on top — Ancient Seed and Wrath of Dryad force enemies to attack him — and Belerick is the only tank who can *order* the enemy carry to feed his passive.
Love second: he never really leaves. Nature's Strike heals him for a flat chunk plus 10% of his lost HP, and every thorn trigger cuts its cooldown by a second — the more the fight hits him, the faster the heal returns. The receipt writes itself.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Belerick is not on the adjustment list. The full verified list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus 21 adjustments (buffs Kalea, Cici, Alpha, Kagura, Edith, Karina, Kaja; nerfs Melissa, Miya, Hanabi, Yi Sun-shin, Paquito, Kadita; Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Lukas, Odette, Sun, Marcel besides) — and blooing's complete roundup, read end to end (buff/nerf tables, Classic pass, both Brawl columns): zero Belerick mentions; EliteDias says "untouched by both patches." Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): a Kalea buff, nerfs to Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela — no Belerick, and with no Fandom page for the sub-patch, any "secret Belerick tweak" stays [UNCONFIRMED]. Same flag for an advance-server report (GamingonPhone, test patch 2.2.26) about devs *reverting* experimental Belerick changes — test-server only, not live. His kit below is the old revamp Fandom's trivia describes — built against continuous-damage opponents — untouched since.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 52.1% WR, 1.7% pick, 55.8% ban, Easy. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026): S+ group in Roam — 52.2% WR, 56.2% ban — with the honest note that the seat is "due to banning," and Lesley and Beatrix clearly hinder him. - MLBB.io (current-patch data): A tier, 52.1% WR, 55.5% ban. - EliteDias (updated 15 Oct 2026): A tier among Tanks. Pocket Gamer: C among Tanks (editorial outlier). - MLCounter.com: 43.99% — a fossil (Zathong mirrors the identical figure). Trust its matchup table for direction, not its headline.
The chorus: 52.1–52.2% — a strong win rate on a tiny pick rate, wearing the queue's loudest ban rate. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Belerick threads surfaced this season (two searches), so this is labelled tracker/creator material: MLBBHub's thesis is that he's a *contact tax*, not an initiator — "Belerick creates the receipt, but someone else has to collect it." My tier verdict: A−. The spreadsheet says A; the ban column says drafts fear him more than his pick rate deserves. Into two or more heroes who must keep basic-attacking, he plays a tier up. Into poke, %HP shred and Purify, the tax office closes.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2460→5820, mana 500→1900, MS 250. His whole kit deals magic damage. - Passive — Deadly Thorns: For every 50 damage inflicted on him, a 25% chance to shoot the nearest enemy unit for Magic Damage of 55 (+5 per hero level) + 1.8% of his Max HP (the % scales with level). At most one trigger per 0.4 seconds. And the quiet clause that shapes his build: HP from equipment and emblems is increased by 30%. - Skill 1 — Ancient Seed: Vines in a line: 200–300 (+50% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and a 25% slow on the path, leaving seeds behind. After 1 second they deal the damage again and taunt enemies on the path for 1.2 seconds. +80% damage to minions. Cooldown 8.0→6.0s; mana 60–90. The taunt is *delayed* — a roadblock you plant, not a hook you land. - Skill 2 — Nature's Strike: +80% Movement Speed (decaying over 2s) and an enhanced next Basic Attack: 300–450 (+60% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage, a 60% slow for 1.4s — and he heals 240–480 plus 10% of his lost HP. Cooldown 12.0→9.0s, and every Deadly Thorns trigger cuts it by 1 second. Being hit literally recharges his heal. - Ultimate — Wrath of Dryad: Vines spread around his own body, dealing 100–200 (+30% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage 4 times and taunting enemies in the area for 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 50/46/42; mana 150. Two traps to unlearn: it is a taunt, not a root — victims move toward him and must attack him, which is the point — and it is centered on Belerick, so placement is body placement.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Nature's Strike first (the sustain engine that keeps the tax office open), Ancient Seed second.
Combos
- "The Receipt" (the standard): Nature's Strike first — speed in, enhanced basic lands the 60% slow — then Ancient Seed on the path the slowed target must take, so the 1-second delay expires under their feet → Wrath of Dryad as they arrive: taunt stacked on taunt, every forced attack rolling your thorns (MLBBHub's sequencing: force the movement decision first, seed second).
- "The Toll Booth": No cast at all to open. Stand in the route the enemy carry must use to reach your backline, one body length in front of your damage line (MLBBHub). They choose: detour and lose the fight's angles, or shoot the tree and pay. Vengeance pops only *after* they commit.
- "The Purify Tax": Into cleanse backlines, spend Ancient Seed first to drag out the Purify, and hold Wrath of Dryad for when it's gone (MLBBHub's ordering). Ult-first into a Purify is a 42-second donation.
Rotation and map control
Level 1 (MLBBHub's script): take Ancient Seed and guard your jungler's first entrance, not a side lane — plant the seed on the exit path of the river or buff choke, because the taunt only matters if the enemy must keep moving through it. Level 2: Nature's Strike arrives; don't force a real fight before it — the speed and slow make the delayed taunt reliable. Rotate before the Turtle timer, sit between your jungler and the enemy mid, and check bushes with your body only when a damage dealer can hit what you reveal.
The spike: Cursed Helmet + Dominance Ice, ~9–12 minutes (MLBBHub). The burn gives him the wave pressure his kit lacks; Lifebane cuts nearby healing and shields to 60% while he stands there being hit — a taunt's best friend. Before the spike you buy space; after it, you hold the mouth of the Lord pit and ask the enemy marksman to make the first mistake. Even then: no follow-up damage near you, no fight — a three-man taunt with nobody to collect it is gardening.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Battle spell: Vengeance — MLBBHub's FAQ pick, and the synergy is the hero: extra reflect layered on Deadly Thorns in the exact window the enemy has committed to hitting you. Flicker is the gap-closer when your team has no other first contact — it buys the body placement the ult demands. Revitalize takes stationary Turtle and tower fights (both MLBBHub).
The locked slots (MLBBHub FAQ core three): Tough Boots → Cursed Helmet → Dominance Ice → Oracle (it amplifies Nature's Strike and any team healing poured into him). Flex, by lobby: - Blade Armor — the reflect stack vs crit and basic-attack marksmen who cannot stop hitting you during a taunt (MLBBHub; Zathong's durable set agrees). - Antique Cuirass — vs repeated physical skill damage. Athena's Shield — vs the one-shot mage. Radiant Armor — vs sustained magic poke, his kit's natural predator. - Guardian Helmet — the siege reset: check the bush, leave, heal, return (MLBBHub). Immortality — sixth, as insurance, not a plan.
Emblem: Tank — the debate barely exists. MLBBHub's FAQ: Vitality / Tenacity / Brave Smite. Vitality's HP also gets the passive's 30% markup — the rare emblem stat this hero taxes in his own favour.
How to counter him
Three tracker families, one verdict: don't pay the tax — change how the fight reaches him. MLBBHub's measured counters (FAQ): Beatrix, Brody and Lesley — range and burst patterns that finish fights he tried to outlast; MLBBDex adds that Lesley and Beatrix "clearly hinder him." MLBB.io's measured edges: Aldous +2.9pp (bursts him inside one rotation), Natalia +2.6, Cici +2.4. MLCounter.com's table (direction, not gospel): he wins just 41% vs X.Borg, 42% vs Dyrroth, 44% vs Karrie. The schools: %HP and true damage — Karrie's Lightwheel Mark and a Demon Hunter Sword scale off the exact HP pool his passive inflates, Dyrroth executes off missing HP, X.Borg ignores the whole transaction; range poke — Valir, Pharsa, Xavier, Yve hit from where thorns don't decide the trade (MLBBHub's draft disqualifiers); cleanses — Purify backlines erase the taunt window his team needs.
Items (MLCounter): anti-heal first — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice; %-HP damage — Demon Hunter Sword, Wishing Lantern; penetration — Malefic Roar, Genius Wand, Divine Glaive; kite slows — Corrosion Scythe, Ice Queen Wand; Winter Crown to blank a taunt window (Fandom's note: taunted enemies attacking a Winter-Crowned Belerick deal no damage — rude, and legal). Play patterns: (1) Don't auto-attack him. Every 50 damage is a dice roll against yourself; poke with skills from range. (2) Separate him from his team — alone, his damage is a toll with no army behind it (MLCounter). (3) Kite the Nature's Strike window — when the speed fades he's a tree again; slow or CC him and walk out (MLCounter). (4) Spread out — Wrath of Dryad is body-sized; a grouped team is a taunted team.
And who Belerick counters: MLBBHub's draft list reads like a marksman census — Claude, Moskov, Miya, Layla, Ixia, Wanwan and Melissa all hate being forced to hit him. MLBB.io has him strong into Zhask, Miya, Kimmy. MLCounter's table gives him 59% vs Gusion, 58% vs Hayabusa, 57% vs Nana — bursters who must come inside thorn range and pay retail.
Mistakes everyone makes
MLBBHub's Belerick autopsy list — all still true at 52.1%: - "The Seed Into Open Ground": Leading with Ancient Seed at mobile heroes. The taunt lands a full second later; Lancelot, Ling, Fanny and Harith are gone by then. Slow them first, then plant the seed on the path they must take next. - "The Unkillable Tourist": Face-checking alone because the passive makes you feel immortal. Your damage punishes; it does not execute. Kited, waited out, finished — and your team gained nothing. - "Dominance Ice on Autopilot": Buying it first into magic poke or physical burst lobbies. It's an anti-sustain answer, not a default — Athena's, Radiant or Antique may be what keeps you alive long enough for it to matter. - "More HP Into Karrie": Answering Lightwheel Mark with a bigger health bar. You have built her a larger damage number. Play for CC chains with your team instead of a bulk contest you mathematically lose. - "The Ego Ult": Burning Wrath of Dryad on the first target in range — one taunted fighter, traded for your best teamfight button. Hold it for the choke, the Lord turn, or the moment their marksman steps up behind the frontline.
FAQ
- Is Wrath of Dryad a root? No — a 1.5-second taunt across four vine ticks (Fandom). Taunted enemies move toward Belerick and must attack him. That's better than a root for him: a rooted carry stops shooting; a taunted one keeps paying the thorn tax.
- Why is his ban rate ~56% when only 1.7% pick him? Draft fear, not popularity. Teams ban the receipt, not the tree — one late Belerick lock can invalidate two basic-attack picks at once, so the ban is insurance against a counterpick few players ever make.
- Do thorns trigger on skill damage too, or only basic attacks? Any damage — the counter is *damage taken*, in 50-point chunks, capped at one trigger per 0.4s (Fandom). Skill poke feeds it slower than a Claude unload, but it feeds it. Range is the real dodge: connect from far enough and the thorn can't reach back.
- Is Vengeance mandatory? It's MLBBHub's default and the synergy is real, but Flicker wins games Vengeance can't reach — literally: when nobody else can start the fight, the ult's body placement is yours to manufacture.
- Is he hard to play? Easy (MLBBHub). Moonton's ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 9, Control 10, Offense 4. The buttons are trivial. The game is geography: stand where the enemy's damage *has* to go through you, and let arithmetic do the violence.
Final verdict
Belerick in Season 42 is an A-minus spreadsheet wrapped around a tax code: a 52% win rate and a 56% ban rate on a hero whose entire damage plan is being attacked correctly. He doesn't chase fights and he doesn't start them cleanly. He stands where the fight must happen, invoices everyone who touches him, and heals with the proceeds.
Play him if: the enemy draft shows two or more heroes who need repeated basic attacks or short-range commits (Claude, Moskov, Miya, Wanwan), your team has follow-up damage waiting behind the taunt, and you lock him late, after their damage pattern shows.
Skip him if: Karrie, Dyrroth or X.Borg are across the draft, the enemy backline pokes from thorn-proof range or carries Purify for fun — or your team needs a roam who starts fights from fog. Belerick doesn't open doors. He's the toll booth on the road the enemy has to drive.
