Obsidia MLBB Guide: Twenty-Five Bones and a Leash (Season 42)
The Abyss queen doesn't kite you — she latches on, deletes your dash, and fires twenty-five bone shards with every basic attack. The S+ gold laner, explained honestly.
Minute fourteen, Lord pit, and their Lancelot does what Lancelots do: Thorned Rose in, Phantom Execution warming up. I don't chase him. I shoot the Bones of Wrath into his chest, get yanked across the pit behind him, and for three seconds his dash buttons are decorative. He drags me around like a balloon while twenty-five Bone Shards fire with every basic attack I own. He dies holding a blink he wasn't allowed to use. That's Obsidia. Welcome in. She's the Sovereign of Dark's End, the Abyss queen who came back from the dead to slay a god — and currently the most-banned marksman in my ranked games.
Why she's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Return to Bone means her basic attacks are never just basic attacks. Every point of damage she deals — to you, to your minions, to your turret — banks Bone Energy, and every 30 Energy condenses into a Bone Shard that fires with her autos. A loaded Obsidia isn't shooting you once per attack. She's shooting you twenty-six times, and a slice of every item effect she owns rides each shard.
Love second: Hunt of Bone is the rudest ultimate a marksman has ever been given. She doesn't kite dash heroes. She latches onto them, deletes their displacement skills for three seconds, and lets *their* movement drag *her* into firing range. Per Fandom's trivia, she's only the second hero who can switch off dashes and blinks — the other is Minsitthar, a fighter with a spear, not a hyper-carry with a leash.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Obsidia is not on the adjustment list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus 22 adjustments — and I read blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup end to end (buffs, nerfs, tweaks, Classic pass, both Brawl columns): she appears zero times. EliteDias' tier coverage says the same in plain words: "No balance change this patch." Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): the documented list — Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs — has no Obsidia, and with no Fandom page for it, any "secret Obsidia tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED].
Her own history: she released on 17 September 2025 with Project NEXT (Patch 2.1.18, Season 38) as the roster's 130th hero — a full year ago, so the "new hero" takes are antiques. Her last documented balance touch is Patch 2.1.95a (MLBBHub's patch coverage): Hunt of Bone gained a shield on cast, and turret hits started feeding Bone Energy — sieging now doubles as stacking.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): S tier — 53.5% WR, 2.3% pick, 23.5% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 20 Oct 2026): S+ tier in Gold Lane — 53.4% WR, 2.4% pick, 27.9% ban. - MLBB.io (data updated 20 Oct 2026): SS tier — the most-picked Gold Laner in Mythical Glory+, 53.4% WR. - EliteDias (updated 15 Oct 2026): S+ tier, 53.3% WR. - MLCounter.com (page updated 24 Jul 2026): 45.21% WR — the one loud disagreement, on a dataset months older than everyone else's.
The chorus: 53.3–53.5% win rate, ~2.4% pick, and a 23.5–27.9% ban rate. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Obsidia threads surfaced this season — tracker/creator material only, and the creators (Timesaver's Season 42 gold-lane rundown) file her among the safest high-win-rate carries in the lane. My tier verdict: S-. The live paperwork says S+ or better everywhere it refreshes daily, and I believe it — in the right lobby. But MLBBHub calls her "a reaction pick, not a comfort blind": reflect frontlines tax her, early-pressure laners starve her, and MLCounter's older dataset shows what happens when the lobby says no. S-tier damage, with draft conditions stapled to it.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2320→4420, mana 500→1900, Physical Attack 120→204, MS 240, range 4.6. Moonton's official ratings (via MLBB.io): Offense 7, Durability 2, Control 1, Difficulty 4. Read the Durability 2 twice — it's the warning label on the whole hero. - Passive — Return to Bone: Dealing damage grants Bone Energy — basic attacks pay 1 Energy vs non-hero units and 2 vs heroes (turrets pay the hero rate), skills pay triple. Creeps pay nothing — she cannot jungle, full stop. Every 30 Energy forms a Bone Shard, up to 25. Every Basic Attack fires all stored shards at the target: each deals 7% Total Physical Attack Physical Damage and inherits 7% of her Attack Effects, so lifesteal, slows and on-hits ride along at a discount. A full bank is +175% Total PA of extra hits per auto — that's the whole hero in one sentence. - Skill 1 — Abyssal Bone Needle: A piercing needle dealing 325→500 (+80% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage to enemies hit, triggering Return to Bone on the first enemy hero hit. Cooldown 4.5→3.0s; mana 35→50. This is the loading tool: fired *through* the wave, it stacks her while it clears. - Skill 2 — Phantom Shadowmeld: She drops into Shadowmeld Form: +500% Movement Speed for 0.3s. Cooldown 4.5→3.0s; mana 35→60. Not a dash, not a teleport — a blink of pure speed. During Hunt of Bone it's enhanced: duration stretches to 1s and the cooldown drops to 33%. - Ultimate — Hunt of Bone: Fires the Bones of Wrath in a direction: 125→225 (+60% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and a brief stun on the first enemy hero hit, then pulls her in next to them and tethers for 3s. Inside the tether she can't drift more than 4 units from the target; the target cannot use displacement skills and their movement drags her along; she gains 5 temporary Bone Shards and +30% Attack Speed (Fandom's Attack Speed listing), moves through obstacles, and can basic attack while moving. Cooldown 40/35/30s; mana 100/50/0.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Abyssal Bone Needle first (it's the stacking engine and the poke), Phantom Shadowmeld last.
Combos
- "Load, Then Latch": Abyssal Bone Needle through the wave until the bank is fat, basics to top it off — *then* Hunt of Bone. The ult is a lock, not a damage button; arriving loaded is the entire combo.
- "The Drag-Along": Once the tether lands, stop spam-clicking away from your target. Their movement pulls you with them (MLBBHub's note) — spend your clicks on auto spacing, not on fighting the leash doing your chasing.
- "The Dash Tax": The enemy carry burns a dash to reposition in lane. That's the all-in — no flank required. Latch from an ordinary angle while the movement tool is on cooldown (MLBBHub's tip) and collect three seconds of deleted escape plans.
Rotation and map control
Level 1: take Abyssal Bone Needle and spend it *through* the wave, not around it (MLBBHub's lane script) — clear and tag the enemy laner so the bank climbs without a bad trade. Then treat lane as a stacking phase, not a duel: if your roamer leaves and the matchup becomes raw early damage, last-hit under control and stop pretending you're equals.
The green light is two items: Corrosion Scythe + Demon Hunter Sword, usually online around minutes 9–11 (MLBBHub). Before that pair, the tether is a threat that needs help; after it, the tether creates its own chase and the fight stops being "can she stay connected?" and starts being "who survives if she does?" Golden Staff third when the lobby lets you keep firing.
Macro tax, stated plainly: clear first, then move. Jungle camps give her zero Energy, so a camp detour before a Lord fight is time spent looking busy. A wave or a turret actually loads her — turret hits pay the hero rate since 2.1.95a — a camp just pays gold. In teamfights, let the enemy frontline commit before you show the angle, and tether from brush or the fight's edge, with open space behind your target. With a sustain roam behind you (Estes, Angela, Mathilda — MLBBHub's list) you can afford the greedier latch; with a pure engage roamer, somebody else forces the first cooldown cycle.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
The core (MLBBHub and MLBBGuides agree): Swift Boots → Corrosion Scythe → Demon Hunter Sword → Golden Staff. Attack speed, stickiness, and repeated on-hit pressure — every shard inherits her attack effects, so on-hit items pay her up to 25 extra times per auto. Flex after the core, by lobby: - Malefic Gun — range and armor answer when the backline lives outside your reach or armor stacking stalls your chases (MLBBHub). - Sea Halberd — into heal/shield lobbies (Estes, Angela, Floryn) so the lock stays lethal (MLBBHub). - Wind of Nature — against physical dive (Ling, Hayabusa, Saber); the active buys the only time Obsidia converts into kills: more autos (MLBBHub). Rose Gold Meteor is the same idea vs magic burst; Immortality is the last-slot answer for the first-jump problem.
Emblem: Marksman — Swift and Weapon Master are the agreed front two (MLBBHub; MLBB.io's build sample). The third slot splits the sources: Quantum Charge (MLBBHub; 9 of 14 MLBB.io builds) vs Weakness Finder (the older-guide school, BitTopup). I run Quantum Charge — she repositions by speed, not by slows.
Battle spell — an honest three-way split. Guide consensus says Flicker (MLBBHub's FAQ pick; BitTopup calls it essential) as the default. But MLBB.io's current build data says players actually run Inspire most (43% of 14 builds) — greed that pays when your frontline is real. Aegis (21% on MLBB.io; MLBBHub's solo-queue answer) vs dive drafts. My pick: Flicker blind, Inspire with a babysitting roam, Aegis into dive comps.
How to counter her
Two tracker families, one verdict: she is a Durability-2 hero whose power is a bank she has to fill before the fight — rob the bank or end the fight before she spends it. MLBBHub's measured counters (refreshed daily): Baxia, Miya and Odette top the list; MLBB.io names Baxia, Estes and Miya — Baxia and Miya are the two-source consensus. MLCounter.com's matchup table (small samples, ~200–270 games each, page updated Jul 2026 — direction, not gospel) adds the burst school: she wins just 44% vs Guinevere, 45% vs Joy, 46% vs Chou, 48% vs Saber and Fanny. - Reflect is a draft answer: Belerick, Blade Armor and Vengeance punish the exact thing she does — stand still and pour basics into one body (MLBBHub). Item counters agree across sources: Dominance Ice (attack-speed and lifesteal cut), Antique Cuirass, Blade Armor (MLCounter, MOBA Nerd). - The theory-vs-data fight, honestly: her tether deletes dashes; MLBBHub's editorial rates her the answer to Fanny, Joy, Benedetta, Lancelot and Chou. But MLCounter's measured table has Joy and Chou *ahead* of her — burst kills a 2320-HP marksman inside the 3-second tether before shard value lands. The leash stops the escape; it doesn't stop the knife. - Play patterns: starve her early — she's weak before items and her first spike is two items deep (MLCounter's tips); kill her first; never let her free-hit; don't stand in a line or behind your minions, because the Needle pierces (MLCounter); hard CC interrupts her firing and her ult cast (MLCounter). Who she counters — also measured (MLCounter): Lukas 58%, Hylos 56%, Tigreal 54%, Brody 53%, plus Miya at 52% on MLCounter's table, though MLBBHub files Miya as her counter — the trackers genuinely split on that one. Immobile frontliners she can latch and shred are her natural prey.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Cold Latch": Ulting at zero stacks. A cold Hunt of Bone is 125 damage and a free delivery into danger (BitTopup: lead with Skill 1's triple Energy, latch at 10+ shards). The ult spends the bank; it doesn't fill it.
- "The Tank Tether": Latching the nearest body because he was closest. Tanks are where Blade Armor, Vengeance and layered peel live (MLBBHub) — you've spent your best cooldown on their best trade. Ult reflect tanks like Belerick and it actively bites back (BitTopup).
- "The Panic Meld": Firing Phantom Shadowmeld before the answer is actually coming. It's 0.3 seconds of speed — a held dodge for the one spell that breaks your sequence, not an opener (MLBBHub).
- "The Empty Arrival": Walking to a Lord fight with an empty bank because you skipped the wave that was supposed to load you (MLBBHub). Late is bad. On time and unloaded is worse.
- "The Jungle Detour": Trying to refill on camps like a normal ADC. Creeps grant zero Bone Energy (Fandom) — every camp detour is unpaid overtime. Farm camps for gold if you must; never confuse them with prep.
FAQ
- Is she really S+ tier? On every tracker that refreshes daily, yes: 53.3–53.5% WR (MLBBHub, MLBBDex, EliteDias, MLBB.io, October 2026), SS on MLBB.io, S+ on MLBBDex. The dissent is MLCounter.com's 45.21% — a dataset last updated in July 2026.
- Can she jungle? No. Creeps grant zero Bone Energy (Fandom), so her passive never loads in the jungle. Gold Lane is the only home.
- Can a tethered enemy dash or blink out? No — displacement skills are disabled for the full 3 seconds (Fandom), and her target's movement drags her along instead. She's only the second hero in the game with that power, after Minsitthar (Fandom trivia).
- Inspire or Flicker? The guides say Flicker; the build data says Inspire (43% of MLBB.io's sampled builds). Flicker if you're learning her or the lane is rough, Inspire once your positioning and frontline can be trusted, Aegis into dive.
- What changed for Obsidia in Season 42? Nothing in 2.2.16 or the documented 2.2.16a list. Her last touch is Patch 2.1.95a (MLBBHub): a shield on the ult cast, turret hits feeding Bone Energy.
Final verdict
Obsidia in Season 42 is a loaded weapon with a paperwork problem: S+ numbers on the live trackers, a 23.5–27.9% ban rate, and a kit that turns one enemy's mobility into her mobility. She is also a 2320-HP marksman who has to farm her own passive before she's allowed to be scary, and the lobbies that respect that — reflect, early pressure, honest burst — still beat her.
Play her if: the enemy draft leans on dash-dependent carries or immobile frontliners, your team can chain CC after the tether, and you'll do the boring macro — load in lane, arrive at fights already holding 25 bones.
Skip her if: the enemy shows Belerick plus reflect, an early-pressure gold laner (Clint, Brody, Lesley, Claude — MLBBHub's lane warnings) with a roamer who'll camp you, or your team needs its marksman online before minute nine. Obsidia doesn't win the early game. She makes the late game illegal.
