Lylia MLBB Guide: The Undo Button With Teeth (Season 42)
A 49.6% win rate on the mage who fights four seconds in the past. Lylia, honestly: seeded doorways, a Gloom that upgrades with every blast, and the rewind that refunds health, mana and charges.
Why she's feared (and loved)
Lord pit entrance, minute eleven, and I decided where this fight happens twenty seconds ago, when I seeded three Shadow Energies across the doorway and walked away smiling. Their tank leads the charge through the choke. Gloom touches the first bomb. Detonation. He hops to the second, bigger. Third, bigger again — by the fourth chained blast Gloom is fully upgraded and their frontline is melting. Their assassin finally commits on me, dumps everything — and I press Black Shoes. I am suddenly four seconds in the past: full health, full mana, all five charges back, standing where I planned to be. He is standing in my bombs.
That is Lylia, the Little Witch — sole successor of the banned Alien Space Summoning, and the girl who tamed a Void Monster named Gloom — per Fandom's story, probably the only friend she ever had. She is feared because she fights where you are about to walk, not where you stand, and her ultimate is a personal undo button. She is loved because the loop is gleefully unfair: seed the floor, detonate the floor, rewind the consequences. The catch: no hard crowd control, a mana-hungry kit, and damage that evaporates in open ground. Lylia is not a duel. She is a trapdoor with a bedtime.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Patch 2.2.16 (16 Sep 2026) did not touch Lylia — she is absent from the verified adjustment list, and blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup, read end to end, never mentions her in the ranked, Classic or Brawl sections. The documented 2.2.16a list (14 Oct 2026: Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Lylia either — any contrary claim is [UNCONFIRMED]. Her last documented change (Fandom's patch-history page): Patch 1.8.20, a BUFF — at maximum level, Shadow Energy explosions that hit an enemy hero immediately grant her 50% Skill Recharge Time, restoring her combo burst "in a different way" after an earlier simplification took it away. Before that, Patch 1.4.70 cut Black Shoes' cooldown from 50–40s to 45–35s.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton data): - MLBBHub statistics (all ranks, last 7 days; checked 21 Oct 2026): B tier, #74 of 133 — 49.54% win rate, 0.48% pick, 0.38% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026, patch 2.2.16): B tier, Mid Lane — 49.7% win rate, 0.5% pick, 0.4% ban. - MLBB.io (hero statistics, October 2026): 49.50% win rate, 0.46% pick, 0.37% ban, specialty Push/Damage. - MLCounter.com (older snapshot, page updated Sep 2026): 52.62% win rate, A-tier badge — a hotter dataset than every live desk; direction and matchups only.
Chorus: 49.5–49.7% win rate, ~0.48% pick, ~0.38% ban — the most-played mage left in this queue. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Lylia threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only; MLBBHub's thesis: she is a tempo pick and a trapdoor who dies in drafts that outrange her zone or stop her rewind.
My tier verdict: B-. Sub-50 paperwork on every current desk buys the minus. The hero inside the spreadsheet — a first-move mid who turns one doorway into a no-go zone — plays a tier up when the draft hands her chokepoints and a roamer who holds people still.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2501→4384, Mana 500→1900, Physical Attack 113→207, Movement Speed 245. MLCounter's ratings: Offense 10, Durability 5, Control 2. - Passive — Angry Gloom: Lylia gains +15% Movement Speed whenever she is within Gloom's area. Every time Gloom is upgraded, she gains another +5%, stacking up to 4 times (+20%) — a ceiling of +35% total. - Skill 1 — Magic Shockwave: Lylia sends Gloom out in a line, dealing 250–500 (+100% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to enemies along the path and slowing them 40% for 1.5s. Flat 4.0s cooldown, mana 50–75. The trigger clause runs her whole game: if Gloom touches a Shadow Energy on the way, he devours and detonates it. - Skill 2 — Shadow Energy: Lylia plants a Shadow Energy at a location: 100–160 (+50% Total Magic Power) on landing and an 80% slow for 0.5s. Detonated by Gloom, it deals an additional 250–400 (+100% Total Magic Power) and becomes Gloom for 8 seconds — and that Gloom chain-detonates further Shadow Energies in range, resetting his timer and hopping to each one. Every detonation within 8 seconds upgrades Gloom: +30% detonation damage, stacking 4 times (+120%); five consecutive detonations cap at 550–825 (+220% Total Magic Power). She stores a charge every 9 seconds, up to 5 charges (cooldown reduction speeds the recharge); cast cooldown 1.0s, mana 40–100. Fine print (Fandom): the skill is available from level 1 but charges start at zero; at most 4 Shadow Energies can sit on the field at once; each one grants vision, bushes included. And since Patch 1.8.20, at max rank, Gloom explosions that hit an enemy hero immediately grant 50% Skill Recharge Time. - Ultimate — Black Shoes: Lylia returns to the Black Shoes' location 4 seconds ago, restoring her HP and Mana to their state at that moment, regaining all 5 Shadow Energy charges, and gaining an extra 10/15/20% Max HP plus +20% Movement Speed for 2/3/4s. She is untargetable while teleporting. Cooldown 45/40/35s, mana 120/60/0. Fandom's own warning, quoted because it bites people: the rewind restores the recorded state — if she was hurt inside the window and healed afterwards, the ult can *"also lose her HP"*. - Skill priority, my way: Shadow Energy maxed first — the chain damage, the upgrade ladder and the 1.8.20 max-rank recharge refund all live there. Magic Shockwave second, Black Shoes at 4/8/12. First point: Shadow Energy, so the charges start ticking from minute zero.
Combos
- "The Seeded Doorway" (the signature): plant Shadow Energies across the path the enemy must take → Magic Shockwave through them as they arrive → Gloom hops bomb to bomb, upgrading with every detonation (+30% a hop, +120% at four stacks) → keep casting Shockwave through the upgraded Gloom while they are slowed inside him.
- The bait and rewind: with Black Shoes up, walk *too* far forward, let the diver commit everything, eat the trade — then rewind to full HP, full mana and five fresh charges, and detonate the floor he is now standing in.
- The reload dive: Black Shoes restores all 5 charges, so a spent Lylia is one button from a second full volley. Spend everything, rewind, spend it again on the same choke (MLBBHub's reset framing).
Rotation and map control
Mid Lane is home, and her early game is a tempo exam, not a duel. Crash the first wave with the seeded chain, then leave — MLBBHub's whole mid guide is built on this: her advantage is not poking harder, it is clearing fast enough to arrive at the side fight before the enemy mid finishes deciding. Crash, move, return, repeat; standing in mid admiring your bombs is value leaking.
Two disciplines run her map. First, charges are a fight resource, not a wave-clear habit: arrive at Turtle with bombs in the bank, because an empty Lylia at an objective is a spectator (MLBBHub counts it among her throw mistakes). Second, fights happen in doorways: jungle entrances, turret mouths, the Lord pit corridor — anywhere pathing is forced. In open ground her detonations are suggestions; in a choke they are rent. Her spike is Enchanted Talisman + Glowing Wand, around minutes 6–8 (MLBBHub): Talisman ends the mana rationing that caps her early game, Glowing Wand's Scorch and Lifebane punish the frontliners in the bombs. After the spike she stops buying first move and starts *holding* ground — river entrances and objective setups.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
The core: Arcane Boots → Enchanted Talisman → Glowing Wand → Ice Queen Wand. MLBBHub's FAQ locks Talisman, Glowing Wand and Ice Queen Wand as the core three, and its guide body calls Talisman "the real lock" — 20% cooldown reduction and Mana Spring are why her whole game unlocks. Glowing Wand second (Scorch rewards repeated hits; Lifebane taxes sustain); Genius Wand replaces it against squishy teams with nothing to burn down, where raw shred kills faster (MLBBHub). Ice Queen Wand's stacking slow makes every zone stickier. Boots fork: Arcane by default; Tough Boots when the enemy CC is heavy enough that reaching your rewind timing *is* the fight (MLBBHub). Then read the lobby: Divine Glaive when Athena's Shields and Radiant Armors start stacking, Winter Crown when a Ling, Hayabusa, Nolan or Saber still reaches you, Blood Wings only when you are already controlling fights — never as a greed slot into dive (MLBBHub). Emblem — a genuine split inside MLBBHub, printed honestly: its FAQ recommends Mage — Inspire / Wilderness Blessing / Impure Rage, while its own tips box argues the Assassin emblem is the cleaner default for a burst mage who wants penetration over generic mage stats. My call: Mage for the standard game, Assassin when your draft's whole plan is early punish. Battle spell — a three-way split, refereed: Flicker is MLBBHub's safest default (one more escape angle when assassins arrive). Flameshot is its FAQ's listed pick — the greedy option when your team already has peel. Purify only into ordinary CC chains; into suppression it solves nothing (MLBBHub, twice).
How to counter her
Start with the measured edges. MLBBHub's counter data names Rafaela, Mathilda and Guinevere as her biggest measured problems — speed and healing supports who rush their team out of the seeded floor, and Guinevere, whose jump-in combo deletes her before she can rewind. MLCounter's matchup table (older dataset, healthy samples) agrees violently on Guinevere: Lylia wins 41% into her across 469 games, then Franco 44% (217 games), Kaja 45% (421), Dyrroth 47% (509) and X.Borg 48% (349). - Suppression is the hard stop. Franco and Kaja do not care about her undo button if she never gets to press it — and a stun chain that lands before her finger does is a kill, not a trade (MLCounter). Minsitthar's ultimate zone blocks the return outright: inside Grounding she cannot cast her way home (MLCounter). Draft one and her greed has a ceiling. - Camp the shoes. Black Shoes returns her to a *visible, known position* from 4 seconds ago (MLCounter's core anti-play). Put your CC where she was, not where she is, and the escape route becomes the ambush. - Outrange or outrun the floor. Xavier and Novaria never have to enter her zone at all (MLBBHub's draft warning), and Ling, Nolan, Hayabusa and Saber punish the windows when her charges are spent. Items: Athena's Shield, Radiant Armor and Oracle blunt the chain (MLCounter); anti-heal — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice — cuts the value of the HP her ult restores. Who she eats is the mirror image: short-range, walk-at-you bodies who must group inside her floor — MLCounter has her beating Granger 57% (244 games), Khufra 56% (328), Hanzo 53% (221), Vale 52% (425) and Kimmy 51% (237). If your comp must stand together in a doorway to work, Lylia has already decorated it.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Panic Rewind": Saving Black Shoes until the stun chain has already started (MLBBHub's signature Lylia throw). The rewind point must be *created* before the enemy commits — pressed late, it is a prayer, not a plan.
- "The Empty Arrival": Spending every Shadow Energy charge erasing the wave, then walking to Turtle with an empty bank (MLBBHub).
- "The Instinct Roam": Rotating on tempo-mage instinct without fixing mid first (MLBBHub). If the enemy mid shoves your tower and takes the level lead off your walk, the "aggressive rotation" was donated gold.
- "The Purify Delusion": Drafting Purify into Franco, Kaja or Minsitthar and calling the rewind safe (MLBBHub). Purify cleans ordinary CC. Suppression and the Grounding zone ignore it.
- "The Glass Cannon Habit": Building pure burst in a game that is actually about access (MLBBHub). Once her core is online the question is not more damage — it is whether their assassin can still force a bad rewind.
FAQ
- Did Patch 2.2.16 change Lylia? No — absent from the verified adjustment list, and blooing's full roundup never mentions her. The 2.2.16a list has no Lylia either; contrary claims are [UNCONFIRMED]. Last documented change: Patch 1.8.20's Shadow Energy buff (Fandom).
- Why does she feel broken in the river and useless in open lanes? Her damage lives in pre-placed zones with forced pathing. Chokepoints walk enemies through the chain; open ground lets them sidestep, disengage or wait out her charges (MLBBHub). Pick the doorway, not the duel.
- What actually stops Black Shoes? Being stunned or suppressed before she casts, Minsitthar's Grounding zone (no casting your way out), and enemies camping the return point. Note the rewind restores her state from 4 seconds ago — healed after a bad window, it can even *cost* her HP (Fandom's note).
- Mage or Assassin emblem? MLBBHub disagrees with itself: its FAQ lists Mage (Inspire / Wilderness Blessing / Impure Rage); its tips argue Assassin for penetration-led early punish. Mage is the listed default; Assassin is the documented alternative.
- Flicker, Flameshot or Purify? Flicker is the safe default (MLBBHub). Flameshot when your team already peels. Purify only against ordinary CC chains — never as your answer to suppression.
Final verdict
Lylia in Season 42 is a B-tier spreadsheet wrapped around an A-tier *feeling* — the feeling of watching five adults walk into a doorway you redecorated. The desks land at 49.5–49.7% because the average Lylia game includes the open-ground fights, the empty-charge objective arrivals and the panic rewinds. Strip those away and what remains is one of mid lane's purest tempo weapons: first move out of mid, a zone no short-range comp can cross for free, and an ultimate that refunds health, mana and charges in one press. She will not out-duel the meta. She will make the meta late to its own fight.
Play her if: your roamer holds people still, your jungler plays for early river control, and the enemy draft is short-range bodies who must walk through chokes to fight. Also play her if you enjoy being the reason the enemy team starts checking doorways like they're wired.
Skip her if: the enemy shows Franco, Kaja or Minsitthar, artillery like Xavier or Novaria outranges your floor, or your team cannot use first move out of mid. Lylia doesn't win the fight in front of her. She wins the one she scheduled four seconds ago.
