Kaja MLBB Guide: The Kidnapper Became a Cage (Season 42)

The kidnapper is gone: revamped Kaja flies over walls and cages whole teams for 2.5 seconds — and Purify won't save them. His 49.9% win rate, 15.8% ban rate, the 2.2.16 ring buff, and the build inside.

Why he's feared (and loved)

Lord pit, minute thirteen. The enemy team is grouped tight behind their tank, feeling safe, because the old Kaja — the one your muscle memory remembers — could only kidnap one of them. The new one comes over the wall. Soaring Wings carries him over the front line with control immunity; he lands inside the group with a knockback and stun, and before the stun fades the lasso drops: Divine Binding. Three heroes, trapped for two and a half seconds, dragged — actually dragged, lasso shrinking — toward my Pharsa, whose ultimate is already open. Nobody got suppressed. Nobody got picked. The whole clump got *sentenced*.

That is the revamp, and it is why the ban rate makes no sense until you play against it. Kaja, the Nazar King, used to be a point-and-click kidnapper: Lightning Bomb in, Divine Judgment on the carry, drag one poor soul home. His rework (patch 2.1.95, per MLBBHub) deleted that hero — suppression gone, bombs gone. In their place: a flying roam who chooses where the teamfight happens, parks the enemy inside a lightning cage, and weakens everything his skills touch (that's the passive, Wings of Lightning). He doesn't delete people anymore. He arrests the room.

Season 42 viability: the honest read

Paperwork first — Season 42 buffed him.

Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026) — a genuine BUFF, aimed at Skill 1. Per blooing's roundup: Ring of Order's cooldown dropped from 7s to 5.5s, and its heal now scales with 45% of his Total Magic Power. Cross-checks line up — VCGamers' recap ("now his skill 1 can provide heal"), MLBBHub ("Patch 2.2.16 cut the ring's cooldown"), mlbb.tools printing the live values (CD 5.5; heal 78 +45% Total Magic Power). Fandom's hero page still prints the old 7.0s — the patch value is live. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): the documented list (Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Kaja — any "secret 2.2.16a tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED], as does an Advanced Server 2.2.26 stat-boost note (test server only).

The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily; checked 21 Oct 2026): 49.9% win rate, 0.5% pick rate — and a 15.8% ban rate, the highest ban figure of any hero left in my guide queue. - MLBBDex (tier list updated ~19 Oct 2026): 50.2% win rate, 0.5% pick, 14.8% ban — filed in its top band on ban weight alone, captioned "ranked high by banning alone," down sharply over thirty days, win rate below average at all ranks. - MLCounter (page updated 4 Oct 2026): prints 57.12% and an S tier — stale. Its skill table still teaches the retired kit, so its matchup numbers below are older-dataset direction, not gospel.

The chorus: 49.9–50.2% win rate on both desks that refresh — a coin flip — wrapped around a ~15% ban rate. Players don't ban his win rate; they ban the cage. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only, and the creator read (MLBBHub) is the honest one: "Kaja does not delete. He delays, then delivers the group to his carries." My tier verdict: B+. A coin-flip spreadsheet taxed by how much he needs a grouped enemy and an AoE teammate — but the ban rate is real information: in coordinated lobbies the cage is worth more than the win rate admits.

The full kit: what every button does

All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2440→5520, Physical Attack 120→218, Physical Defense 22→85, Magic Defense 15→50, Movement Speed 240, attack range 2.8. Ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 3, Offense 6, Control 6 — a controller, not a sponge. Returning players: Wrath Sanction, Lightning Bomb and Divine Judgment no longer exist. - Passive — Wings of Lightning: Every time Kaja's skill damage hits an enemy unit, it applies Paralysis: heroes and summoned units are briefly slowed, and the target's damage is reduced by 8% for 5 seconds. It's why he survives inside his own cage — the trapped are hitting weakened. - Skill 1 — Ring of Order: A ring of Primal Lightning expands from Kaja and returns to him. Enemies hit take 160–285 (+70% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage, and each enemy hit heals Kaja for 78–138 (+45% Total Magic Power) HP — subsequent hits in the same cast heal at 33%. Cooldown 5.5s after the 2.2.16 buff (Fandom's table still prints 7.0s — patch governs). Poke, sustain, Paralysis — and it tags the position of everyone it hits (MLBBHub). - Skill 2 — Soaring Wings: Kaja dashes to the target area, Control Immune during the dash. On arrival he deals 250–425 (+120% Total Magic Power), knocking back and stunning nearby enemies for 0.5s, then enters the Soaring state for 6.6s: ignores obstacles, +15% Movement Speed, and basic attacks while moving, dealing 100 (+25% Total Magic Power) (+2% of the target's Max HP) Magic Damage to surrounding enemies. Entering Soaring cuts this skill's cooldown to 4s (unaffected by CDR); every hit on a hero or creep extends Soaring by 2.6s. Base cooldown 14.0s. - Ultimate — Divine Binding: Kaja hurls a Primal Lightning lasso at a target area. After a 0.5s delay, every enemy hero still inside takes 360–600 (+80% Total Magic Power) and is trapped (Restrained) for 2.5s. While it holds, Kaja can drag the lasso — shrinking its radius, pulling boundary enemies along with him — without interrupting their skills. Cooldown 70/65/60s. Fandom's notes: it can't be removed by anti-CC effects, including Purify — the only escape is leaving the circle before the lasso drops.

Skill priority, my way: ultimate at 4/8/12, Ring of Order first (post-buff it's a 5.5s poke-heal on your roam route), Soaring Wings second — its base cooldown is flat 14s at every rank, so levels buy damage, not uptime. And per MLBBHub: take Soaring Wings at level 1 — the dash is your invade insurance.

Combos

  • "The Flight Cage" (the whole hero): Soaring Wings over the wall into the group → the landing knockback and 0.5s stun spends the cage's delay → Divine Binding drops while they can't move → drag the lasso toward your team as it shrinks → keep attacking from the air while the cage holds. MLBBHub's law: lead with the flight, then cage. Cage first and every dash walks out free.
  • "The Conceal Open": Conceal active, fly the flank over terrain — not the front door — and land the Flight Cage on the pair contesting Turtle or Lord. A two-man cage at the first objective snowballs a lane, not just a kill (MLBBHub).
  • "The Flicker Cage": Flicker works during or after the Binding cast: shift the lasso onto a target who sidestepped, or pull the zone over a fleeing carry (MLBBHub). The old Flicker-kidnap is gone; this is its replacement — an area play, not a snatch.
  • "The Peel Flight": no ult needed — Soaring Wings *backwards* into the diver on your marksman (knockback + stun), Ring of Order for the Paralysis damage cut, body the exit.

Rotation and map control

Roam, and play the map like a weather system. Level 1 is Soaring Wings — invade cover and escape in one button. Level 2, tag mid with the ring: heal, Paralysis and tags win the poke trade and tax the enemy mid before the first Turtle. Level 4, your first Conceal cage goes on the lane whose fight is *already grouped*; never hunt a solo victim in an empty lane.

The mid game is cooldown honesty. Divine Binding costs 70 seconds at rank 1. Between cages you're a poke-and-paralyze roam: ring on cooldown (5.5s now — the buff made his waiting game cheap), short flights to reposition, never a deep Soaring Wings into ground you can't extend the flight on. Fleeting Time changes the arithmetic (see build): once it lands — MLBBHub prices the spike at roughly 9–11 minutes — kills and assists refund a slice of the ult, and a won fight can chain into a second cage on the retreat. And route every flight *through* things: the +2.6s extensions only pay on hits, so a Soaring that touches nothing ends with you grounded, in range, holding a 14-second problem.

Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)

The locked spine — MLBBHub, ONE Esports and Zathong's pro set land on the same sentence: Tough Boots (Conceal blessing) → Dominance Ice → Fleeting Time → Athena's Shield → Immortality, with Antique Cuirass against physical divers. Dominance Ice is the cage-survival item: hybrid defense, a shield scaling with nearby enemy heroes (a cage is a crowd), and a healing/shield-cut aura on the people inside it. Fleeting Time is the engine — Timestream refunds ult cooldown on kills and assists, and a 70s ult is this hero's whole tax bill; Hub prices its spike at 9–11 minutes. Thunder Belt is the greedy flex (Hub): Soaring basics are area damage, so its proc hits the whole clump while stacking hybrid defense. The damage school exists and I'm not selling it. Full magic (Arcane Boots, Starlium Scythe, Genius Wand, Holy Crystal, Divine Glaive — ONE Esports' and Zathong's mid/EXP sets) is a real off-role build, but MLBBHub's warning is correct: trade the tank spine for magic power and you die inside your own cage. Emblem: Support — Agility / Pull Yourself Together / Focusing Mark (MLBBHub): move speed, spell cooldown, and a damage amp for the team cashing your cage. Battle spell: Flicker — the consensus pick (MLBBHub FAQ; ONE Esports; Zathong) — for the Flicker-cage reposition, and as the exit the flight can't always be.

How to counter him

Two tracker families again. MLBBHub's measured counters lead with Odette, Lunox and Zhask — the biggest measured edges against him in ranked. The irony: Odette is also his dream follow-up partner, which is why she works — her ult punishes the grouped, stationary fight Kaja wants, from outside his landing zone. MLBBDex adds a high-rank footnote: Kaja is one of Valir's two clearest counters in Mythical Glory — flip it around and Valir's knockback wall is the poke-school answer to his landing. MLCounter's table (older dataset — direction, not gospel): he wins just 42% vs Akai (342 games), 44% vs Martis (243), 46% vs Masha (367), 47% vs Yin (256), 48% vs Grock (353). - The Diggie veto: Time Journey's team-wide CC immunity includes restraint (MLBBHub) — a competent Diggie pre-casts it over your target clump and the 70s ult becomes a slow animation. The cleanse that works; Purify does not (Fandom: Divine Binding can't be removed by anti-CC, Purify included). - Read the window: the lasso has a 0.5s delay — dash-readers (Kagura, Gusion, Chou, Suyou, per MLBBHub) simply leave before it locks. Dash up = his ult is a suggestion. - Intercept the flight: hard-CC frontlines — Tigreal, Atlas, Khufra, Franco (MLBBHub) — lock him on landing, before the lasso leaves his hand. - Items: magic defense, and anti-heal — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice (MLCounter) — because his post-2.2.16 ring is a real heal.

Who he counters: the reset-dash divers, once locked — MLBBHub names Fanny, Ling and Natalia ("a restraint they cannot leave once it locks"), and MLCounter's numbers agree on the class: he beats Natalia 58% (170 games), Fanny 57% (385), Chou 54%, Aurora 53%, Harley 52%. Plus immobile, grouped backlines — Layla, Vexana (MLBBHub).

Mistakes everyone makes

  • "The Bush Kidnapper": Playing old Kaja — sitting in a river bush waiting for one carry to walk past, like Divine Judgment still exists. MLBBHub's verdict: it's how you end a game with two cages cast. The cage pays on groups; go where the fight is about to clump.
  • "The Early Cage": Dropping Divine Binding *before* the Soaring Wings stun. The 0.5s delay is a free exit for every dash in the game. Stun first, cage second — the order is the combo.
  • "The Wrong-Way Drag": Dragging the lasso away from your team — you've just repositioned the enemy for free. The drag points at your Pharsa, always.
  • "The Empty Flight": Soaring Wings as a travel button into open ground. No hits, no +2.6s extensions, and you arrive grounded with no engage and no escape (MLBBHub).
  • "The Front-Door Flight": Flying straight into Tigreal, Atlas, Khufra or Franco. Control immunity covers the dash, not the landing — you get locked before the cage leaves your hand. Flank over terrain or don't go.
  • "The Solo Cage": Caging a clump your team cannot kill. The cage doesn't deal the damage; locked enemies who can't be killed just turn and fight you in it.

FAQ

  • Is Divine Judgment really gone? Yes. The 2.1.95 rework (per MLBBHub) replaced the point-and-click suppression with Divine Binding, an area lasso. Any guide teaching the Flicker-kidnap is teaching a deleted hero.
  • Can Purify escape Divine Binding? No — Fandom's notes are explicit: it can't be removed by anti-CC effects, including Purify. The outs: leave during the 0.5s cast window, or Diggie's Time Journey — its immunity covers restraint (MLBBHub).
  • What exactly did 2.2.16 change? Ring of Order: cooldown 7s → 5.5s, heal now scaling with 45% of Total Magic Power (blooing; VCGamers and MLBBHub cross-check). Fandom's page still prints the old 7.0s — patch wins.
  • Why is he banned ~15% of the time with a ~50% win rate? Because bans price fear, not spreadsheets: MLBBDex files him in its top band "by banning alone." A cage your whole team can't cleanse is scarier in draft than on the results page.
  • Fleeting Time or more defense? Fleeting Time, per the consensus (MLBBHub, ONE Esports, Zathong) — a 70s ult is his tax, and Timestream refunds it per kill and assist.

Final verdict

Kaja in Season 42 is a hero whose reputation and record refuse to agree: 49.9–50.2% win rates on the desks that refresh, a ban rate north of 15% anyway. Both numbers are true. In solo queue he needs three things at once — a grouped enemy, an AoE teammate in range, a pilot who cages second instead of first — and missing any one, he's a 70-second cooldown with wings. Put a Pharsa or an Odette behind him and he's the scariest engage in the support pool: an area arrest Purify can't answer. The 2.2.16 ring buff changed none of that; it just made the waiting between sentences cheaper.

Play him if: your team has AoE burst that converts a locked clump (Pharsa, Odette, Gord, Ixia), the enemy backline is immobile or dash-poor, and you'll learn flight-first discipline instead of bush-kidnapping like it's 2024.

Skip him if: the enemy locks Diggie, shows a dash-heavy dive comp that reads cast windows, or your team is all poke with nobody who turns a cage into kills. Take Belerick or Khufra and bring a shorter argument. Kaja doesn't win fights. He schedules them — in a room with no doors.
