Angela MLBB Guide: A Second Health Bar With Strings (Season 42)
She doesn't walk to fights — she moves into a teammate. Angela in Season 42: Heartguard timing, the best hosts, builds, emblems and counters.
Their Lancelot has been waiting for this: my Martis alone in the river, dashes spent, health bar honest. He commits. Two screens away, I'm in our base with full mana and better information — Heartguard starts channeling, the shield lands on Martis before the second dash does, and suddenly the 1v1 has a passenger. Martis turns. My Love Waves pour out of him at zero mana cost, stacking Lover's Mark and slow on the man trying to leave, and when he breaks for the wall, Puppet-on-a-String is already on him. Three seconds later he's immobilized in the river, and the gank he planned is the funeral he attended.
That's Angela. Welcome in. She's the Bunnylove, a peace android built by Dr. Baker out of synthetic skin and puppet strings (Fandom's story) — and the only support who doesn't walk to fights. She moves into somebody. Season 42 never touched her, the trackers park her just under 49.5% win rate with a striking 10.5% ban rate, and every number she posts is really a review of the teammate she chose to ride.
Why she's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Heartguard deletes distance. A 1,000–2,000-point shield (plus up to 300% of her Magic Power) lands on any ally, anywhere on the map, and then Angela herself arrives inside them for 12 seconds — untargetable, casting for free. A fair 1v1 becomes a 2v1 in two seconds, from any postcode.
Love second: she is a multiplier with a personality. Smart Heart hands her host up to +30% Movement Speed just for her casting rhythm, Love Waves heal *and* mark *and* slow in one button, and her host plays like there's a second health bar stapled to their first — because there is. MLBBHub says it flatly: Angela is a second health bar, not a fifth body.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Angela is not on the adjustment list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus 21 adjustments (buffs Kalea, Cici, Alpha, Kagura, Edith, Karina, Kaja; nerfs Melissa, Miya, Hanabi, Yi Sun-shin, Paquito, Kadita; Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Lukas, Odette, Sun, Marcel besides) — and blooing's complete roundup, read end to end, mentions her zero times. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): a Kalea buff, nerfs to Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela (Kazuki Official) — no Angela, and with no Fandom page for the sub-patch, any "secret Angela tweak" stays [UNCONFIRMED]. Her last documented touch is the 2.1.88 buff (VCGamers' Season 41 recap lists her among the buffed).
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 49.3% WR, 1.7% pick, 10.3% ban, Medium; B tier on its builds page. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026): A tier in Roam — 49.4% WR, 10.5% ban — with the season's most honest caption: "Depends on the level of the chosen ally." - EliteDias (updated 15 Oct 2026): S tier among Supports, 49.5% WR (editorial outlier).
The chorus: 49.3–49.5% — a coin-flip win rate wearing a top-shelf ban rate, and that gap *is* the hero. Teams aren't banning a 49% support; they're banning the duo — Angela stapled to a fed Ling or Martis is a different animal from Angela stapled to a stranger. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Angela threads surfaced this season (two searches), so this is labelled tracker/creator material: MLBBHub's thesis is the draft question — name the teammate who gets Heartguard before the loading screen, or don't pick her. My tier verdict: B+. The letters argue B (Hub) vs A (Dex) vs S (EliteDias). Honest seat: a tier up with a named front-foot host, a tier down as a blind pick hoping one appears.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2300→4206 — the frailest body in this guide series — mana 500→1900, MS 240 (the slowest base speed here, too). Everything deals magic damage. - Passive — Smart Heart: Each skill cast gives her +7.5% Movement Speed for 4 seconds, stacking to +30%. While attached, the boost transfers to the host. - Skill 1 — Love Waves: A wave in the target direction: 170–320 (+80% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage, heals allies hit for 150–200 (+75% Total Magic Power), briefly reveals enemies hit, and applies a Lover's Mark (max 5 stacks). Each stack makes the target take +20% damage from her Love Waves and Puppet finale, and slows them 8% per stack for 3 seconds (up to 40%). She stores up to 5 charges; recharge 6.0s, cut by Cooldown Reduction; mana 60–110. - Skill 2 — Puppet-on-a-String: A string at one enemy: 300–450 (+40% Total Magic Power) on contact, slow ramping up to 80%. If still connected after 3 seconds: immobilized 1.5 seconds plus 450–675 (+60% Total Magic Power) — and each Lover's Mark stack adds +20% to that final damage. Cooldown 13.0→10.0s; mana 90–140. - Ultimate — Heartguard: Global. She channels 2 seconds — interruptible by CC and displacement (Fandom) — applying a 1000–2000 (+200–300% Total Magic Power) shield, lasting 6 seconds, to any ally on the map. Then she attaches for 12 seconds: untargetable, skills at zero mana cost. Fine print that decides games (Fandom): while attached she cannot use battle spells or equipment actives; recasting detaches her with a blink to a location she chooses; it ends early if the host dies. Cooldown a flat 60s; mana 100–200.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Love Waves first (heal, marks, slow, charges — the whole economy), Puppet-on-a-String second.
Combos
- "Mark, Then String" (the catch): Land two Love Waves first — marks up, slow stacking toward 40% — *then* throw Puppet-on-a-String (MLBBHub's ordering: the string is a punishment spell, not a raw catch). A pre-slowed target can't walk out of the tether; the immobilize lands with the finale already amplified by the marks.
- "The Early Boarding" (the standard): Read the dive two seconds early: Heartguard's channel starts while your host crosses the commit line — from fog, behind a wall, or from base — so shield and passenger arrive *with* the engage, not after the burst. Attached: Love Waves fired *through the host's path*, string saved for whoever tries to kite out. The same button is also the cross-map save: an ally ganked in a side lane gets the shield and a passenger without you walking a step — and the detach blink is your exit, so pick its landing spot before the host's fight is lost.
Rotation and map control
Level 1 (MLBBHub's script): start around the jungler, not the gold laner — Love Waves keep the first clear healthy, but never dump every charge into camps: keep one banked for the river skirmish. Before level 4 your job is boring and vital: the jungler reaches the first Turtle healthy, with vision, and with a support who hasn't died for a river bush. Love Waves doubles as your bush check — it reveals what it hits, so scout with the wave, not with your 2,300-HP face.
The spike: Flask of the Oasis + Fleeting Time, roughly the first two objective cycles (MLBBHub). Flask fattens every heal and shield; Fleeting Time pays in the currency that matters — every kill or assist while attached cuts the *next* Heartguard's wait by 30%. After it, abuse the recall-ult cycle: reset to base, refill, buy, then attach to the teammate already walking at the fight. Positioning law: your detached body is the squishiest thing on the map (MLCounter rates her Durability 3) — channel from fog or base, rotate with company, and treat solo river walks while the ult is down as donations.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Battle spell: Flicker — MLBBHub's FAQ pick and the majority spell across its tracked builds; her only self-peel for the detached body. The alternatives are narrower: Aegis stacks a second save on the host (the older school's pairing); Revitalize and Purify sit in Hub's build pool for specific lobbies.
The locked slots (MLBBHub): Demon Boots (Favor) — mana for the roam pattern, Favor adding a heal layer to the teammate she's already healing → Flask of the Oasis (healing effect up, plus a low-HP ally shield trigger) → Fleeting Time (the ult-cycle engine). MLBBHub's FAQ core three ends with Glowing Wand. Tracked in-game builds (ManaBuy's five current orders) agree on Flask first, then lean into Magic Power — Enchanted Talisman, Ice Queen Wand, Holy Crystal. Flex, by lobby: - Glowing Wand — her anti-heal: Lifebane applies through Love Waves' damage, so it works even while she's riding the host (MLBBHub). Dominance Ice is the aura alternative when she must stand in the fight herself. - Ice Queen Wand — when enemies win by walking out of the host's engage: wave slow plus Ice Bound shuts the escape route. - Oracle — selfish durability when magic chip keeps her from channeling safely. - Athena's Shield / Antique Cuirass / Radiant Armor — name the threat or don't buy the slot (Hub's rule). Immortality last when death timers decide Lord; Winter Crown when one dive combo keeps killing her before the channel — a detached-body tool only, since actives are dead while attached.
Emblem: Support — the debate barely exists. MLBBHub's FAQ: Agility / Pull Yourself Together / Focusing Mark. Focusing Mark is the quiet multiplier: her chip damage raises the whole team's damage on that target by 6%. Roam blessing: Favor, everywhere above.
How to counter her
Two tracker families, one verdict: her value lives in somebody else's health bar — so attack the arrangement. MLBBHub's measured counters (FAQ): Lolita, Franco and Silvanna — the biggest ranked edges against her. Channel-cancel CC: Heartguard's 2-second channel dies to hard CC and displacement (Fandom), and Hub's draft warnings name the tools — Franco, Chou, Kaja — plus Saber, Natalia and Helcurt, who kill the detached body instead. MLCounter.com's matchup table (small samples, older page — direction, not gospel) agrees: Angela wins just 41% vs Natalia (352 games) and 44% vs Lesley (esports.gg's early-game list rhymes: Julian, Harley, Lancelot). Anti-heal is the second school: esports.gg calls it her bane, and MLCounter's item list is the standard trio — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice.
More items (MLCounter): Winter Crown to blank her string window; slows — Corrosion Scythe, Ice Queen Wand, Thunder Belt; Purify erases the immobilize her team plays around. Play patterns: (1) Kill Angela first, or separate her — alone she's useless (MLCounter): no damage, no escape, no fifth body. (2) Ambush the rotation: between ults she must cross the jungle to matter — ward it and collect her (MLCounter). (3) Wait out the passenger: attach lasts 12 seconds, shield 6 — disengage, let the lease expire, then fight a 60-second cooldown (Zathong's tip). (4) Don't stand in a line: Love Waves pierce — a queued team eats marks, slows and reveals for free.
And who Angela counters: MLCounter's table gives her 59% vs Vexana, 58% vs Layla, 55% vs Gord, 51% vs Eudora — immobile channel mages and parked carries who can't break a string or dodge a wave. The deeper counter is structural: she answers *gank math itself* — "isolate one and delete him" stops working when the one has a global shield and a second kit inside him.
Mistakes everyone makes
MLBBHub's Angela autopsy list — all five still true at 49.3%: - "The Low-HP Rescue": Ulting whoever is already dying. The channel takes 2 seconds and the shield lands after the burst that mattered. Start the cast as your diver crosses the commit line — Heartguard is a permission slip, not an ambulance. - "Riding the Safest Teammate": Attaching to the protected marksman two screens behind the fight. Ult the hero whose next five seconds decide the fight. - "The Cold String": Throwing Puppet-on-a-String at an unmarked, undashed target. They walk out, the tether snaps, your only peel is gone. Marks first, host pressure second, string last. - "The Solo Rotate": Crossing the river alone while Heartguard is down. No dash, no immunity, 240 movement speed — you are the gank you warn others about. Move with mid, jungle or tank vision. - "The Comfort Buy": Stacking defense without naming the threat. Five different items answer five different killers; if you can't say who's killing you or your host, you're buying furniture.
FAQ
- Can Heartguard be interrupted? Yes — the 2-second channel dies to hard CC and displacement (Fandom), which is why veterans channel from fog or straight from the fountain. Once attached, though, she's untargetable for the full 12 seconds.
- Can she Flicker or use items while attached? No (Fandom): no battle spells, no equipment actives inside the host. She can still cast Love Waves and Puppet-on-a-String at zero mana cost, and detach on demand with a blink to a spot she picks.
- Why a ~49% win rate but a 10.5% ban rate? Because drafts ban the duo, not the doll. MLBBDex's caption is the whole story: her results depend on the level of the chosen ally. On a fed hyper-carry she's oppressive; on a coin-flip stranger she's a B-tier spreadsheet.
- Who is her best host? Front-foot divers (MLBBHub): Ling, Lancelot, Paquito, Yu Zhong, Martis, Alpha, Barats. If the draft has nobody who starts fights from inside the enemy shape, it has no Angela game.
- Is she hard to play? Medium (MLBBHub). Moonton's ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 3, Offense 2, Control 5. The game is prediction: your ultimate has to leave two seconds before the fight it saves.
Final verdict
Angela in Season 42 is a B-plus spreadsheet wrapped around the game's best party trick: she is not really a hero pick, she's a *teammate upgrade* — a second health bar, a speed boost and a root, delivered globally. The patch ignored her, the trackers can't agree on her letter, and both facts make sense: her tier was never printed on her own page. It's printed on her host's.
Play her if: your draft names its host before the loading screen — a Ling, Martis, Lancelot or Yu Zhong who dives first and asks questions later — and your team profits from turning their engage into a 2v1 with a shield on top.
Skip her if: nobody on your team wants to be ridden, the enemy shows Franco, Chou, Kaja or a Natalia with your name on her list, or your comp needs the roam to *start* fights. Angela doesn't open doors. She makes sure the teammate kicking them down comes home.
