Franco MLBB Guide: One Hook, One Funeral (Season 42)
The worst win rate in Mobile Legends — and a ban rate triple his pick rate. Franco is a one-question exam: Iron Hook, Bloody Hunt, builds and counters.
The enemy marksman steps up for one last-hit too many. She's done the maths: tower behind her, support beside her, hook range measured to the pixel. What she didn't measure: the bush, five quiet seconds, the Flicker under my thumb. Iron Hook leaves the dark already stacked, catches her mid-stride, and halfway through the drag I blink backwards — so she doesn't land at my feet. She lands under my tower, inside Bloody Hunt, with my whole team invited.
That's Franco. Welcome in. He's the Frozen Warrior of the Northern Vale — the runt his tribe mocked, who trained alone in the mountains, came back, and sank Bane's flagship to rule the coast (Fandom's story). Season 42 never touched him; the trackers have him dead last in the game at ~41.5% win rate — and players still ban him three times more often than they pick him. Nobody fears a stat sheet. Everybody fears the hook.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Iron Hook is not a poke, it's a relocation order. One landed hook moves the enemy carry from "safely behind two tanks" to "inside your team, stunned" — and Bloody Hunt follows with 1.8 seconds of Suppression, the uncleanseable control tier: Purify's own tooltip excludes it (MLBBHub). Franco is one of only three heroes who can apply it (Fandom trivia: Franco, Kaja, Barats). No item or spell answers his ultimate — only not being there.
Love second: Wasteland Force makes absence a weapon. Five seconds out of combat: faster, healing, next skill charged up to +150% damage — the unseen Franco is the strongest Franco. MLBBHub calls him "a location eraser, not a tank," and pro play proved the ceiling: at MSC 2022 he won 19 of 24 picks (79.17%, ONE Esports). The spreadsheet says worst hero in the game. The highlight reels disagree.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026): Franco is not on the ranked adjustment list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus 21 adjustments (buffs Kalea, Cici, Alpha, Kagura, Edith, Karina, Kaja; nerfs Melissa, Miya, Hanabi, Yi Sun-shin, Paquito, Kadita; Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Lukas, Odette, Sun, Marcel, Hylos besides) — and blooing's complete roundup, read end to end, mentions him zero times in the ranked, Classic or system sections. One footnote: blooing's Brawl-mode table lists Franco among the Brawl buffs (skill cooldowns cut significantly) — a mode rule, not a ranked change. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela nerfs (Kazuki Official) — no Franco, and with no Fandom page for the sub-patch, any "secret Franco tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED]. His last documented ranked touch is a nerf in patch 1.7.94 (VCGamers' recap); before that, the 1.6.42 rework created the modern Wasteland Force (ONE Esports).
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 41.5% WR, 1.0% pick, 3.3% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026): C tier in Roam — 41.6% WR, 3.5% ban, the last entry of all 133 heroes: "a missed grappling hook costs an entire rotation; too irregular without vocal coordination." - EliteDias (updated 15 Oct 2026): D tier among Tanks, 41.7% WR. - Pocket Gamer (October 2026): S tier among Tanks — editorial outlier.
The chorus: 41.4–41.7%, the lowest win rate in the game. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Franco threads surfaced this season (two searches), so this is labelled tracker/creator material: MLBBHub's thesis is that he's a *draft answer*, not a hero — no standing-still target in the enemy draft, no Franco — while his ban rate says the fear never got the spreadsheet memo. My tier verdict: C+. Raw numbers say worst hero in the game; by design he's a single-question exam the enemy draft passes or fails. Into immobile carries and channel ultimates he plays two tiers up; into dash drafts he's a 15-second cooldown wearing a beard.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2600→6534.
- Passive — Wasteland Force: Take no damage for 5 seconds and Franco gains +10% Movement Speed, regenerates 1% of his Max HP per second, and accumulates Wasteland Force (up to 10 stacks). His next skill cast consumes all stacks to raise that skill's damage by up to 150%. Fine print (Fandom note): once stacks are consumed while the passive runs, they do not rebuild until he takes damage again.
- Skill 1 — Iron Hook: The first enemy unit touched takes 400–650 (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage, is stunned, then dragged to Franco. First unit means minions body-block it. Two Fandom notes run his ceiling: the hook pulls the target to Franco's current position, so Flicker mid-drag changes the delivery address; and it fully affects invisible and concealed enemies — a bush hook is a vision check that bites. Cooldown 15.0→11.0s, mana 135–160.
- Skill 2 — Fury Shock: Slams the ground around him for 300–450 plus 4% of his Max HP Physical Damage and a 70% slow for 1.5 seconds. Cooldown 7.0→4.5s, mana 40–65 — the insurance that a dragged target can't walk out of the follow-up.
- Ultimate — Bloody Hunt: Suppresses the target enemy hero for 1.8 seconds, striking them 6 times for 50–70 (+70% Total Physical Attack) per hit. Suppression cannot be removed — but read the Fandom note everyone skips: the ability ends early if Franco himself gets crowd controlled. Your team bodyguards the 1.8 seconds. Cooldown 62/55/45, mana 110–140.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Iron Hook first (the cooldown is your entire job description), Fury Shock second.
Combos
- "The Sentence" (the standard): Sit in the bush until Wasteland Force is fully stacked → Iron Hook first (MLBBHub's iron rule: the amplified cast goes on the hook, never on Fury Shock) → Bloody Hunt on arrival → Fury Shock as they exit suppression, so the slow eats their escape plan.
- "The Flicker Delivery": Hook a target at max range, then Flicker backwards mid-drag. Fandom's fine print is the whole trick: the hook delivers to where Franco *is*, so the blink moves the drop zone — under your tower, deeper into your team. MLBBHub calls the Flicker-hook the highest-skill-expression combo on the hero.
- "The Ball Breaker": Against Khufra, don't aim at the carry at all. Bloody Hunt's suppression is one of the only effects that cancels Bouncing Ball mid-bounce (Fandom's interrupt list; ONE Esports' counter guide) — and the ball is slow, so the hook lands on it easily too. Same logic deletes channel ultimates: Pharsa and Odette must stand still to cast, and standing still is the crime Franco prosecutes.
Rotation and map control
Level 1 (MLBBHub's script): take Fury Shock, not the hook. One cast clears the melee creeps at your jungler's buff without burning the hook's 135 mana on a minion. By 1:30 you're in the river tribush on the side with the immobile duo, sitting still until Wasteland Force is full — first hook always stacked, and no hook spam in the first 90 seconds: a miss deletes a rotation (MLBBDex).
The spike: Rapid Boots + Dominance Ice, roughly 7–8 minutes (MLBBHub). Rapid Boots plus the passive make an unseen Franco faster than almost anyone on the map — that's what makes the Flicker Delivery's range a lie the enemy believed. Past the spike you can invade, not just gank. Mid/late: stop hunting and exist where the standing-still target must stand — pits, siege lines, their carry's farming route. Hook-check bushes instead of face-checking them. The hook works backwards too — a peel with a harpoon.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Battle spell: Flicker. Not close. MLBBHub's FAQ locks it, it's on four of five Francos (mobilelegendsfire), and the Flicker Delivery doesn't exist without it. Petrify is the listed alternative if your team needs lockdown more than delivery. Roam blessing: Conceal (the MSC-era pro build, ONE Esports).
The locked slots (MLBBHub): Rapid Boots (95% of games — the speed synergy is the hero) → Dominance Ice (Lifebane turns "pulled, healed, escaped" into "pulled, burst, dead" vs healer drafts) → Guardian Helmet (regen that stacks with Wasteland Force). The one real argument: MLBBHub's own FAQ names Fleeting Time in the core three instead — the cooldown school: hook at 15s, ult at 62s, his two clocks. My call: Fleeting Time when hooks are landing and the game is pick-paced; Guardian Helmet when you're poked out of rotations. Flex, by lobby: - Antique Cuirass — vs 3+ physical sources; stacking reduction — how a hook tank takes damage. - Athena's Shield — vs burst mages (Eudora, Kagura). Radiant Armor — vs sustained magic instead (Cecilion, Valentina). - Immortality — sixth slot, ~90% of games (MLBBHub). Dying after the pickoff is fine; the revive gets you to the next one. - Tough Boots — the exception: swap off Rapid only into 2+ chain-CC comps, where the CC cut buys the window to hook first.
Emblem: a genuine split. MLBBHub's current default is Support — Agility / Pull Yourself Together / Focusing Mark: cooldown for the hook clock; Focusing Mark amplifies team damage on the delivered target. The classic school (mobilelegendsfire, older guides) runs Tank — Agility / Wilderness Blessing / Concussive Blast. My call: Support with a real frontline partner, Tank when you're the only body the draft gave you.
How to counter him
Two trackers, one theme: make the hook worthless. MLBBHub's measured counters (counter data, 17 Oct 2026): Hanzo (+2.8pp — demon form is uncatchable), Sun (+2.7pp — clones eat the hook projectile), Atlas (+2.4pp), then Tigreal and Chip. And MLBBHub names the true draft veto: Diggie. Time Journey strips the debuff off a hooked target — "your entire pickoff evaporates the moment the egg casts" — and 1v9 ranks Diggie his #3 counter, with bombs that evict Franco from bushes as a bonus.
The mobility school (1v9's list): Wanwan (#1 — a cleanse on Needles in Flowers, a dash on every basic), Benedetta (#2 — i-frames that blank the hook and even the suppression timing), Lunox (Brilliance makes her untargetable), Kagura (umbrella dash plus cleanse), Chou, and Nana (a Molina transform ruins the combo mid-cast). The poke school (MLBBHub's kit-match list): Gord, Yve, Cecilion, Novaria — they wear him down from outside hook range, because his sustain needs 5 clean seconds and poke never gives him 5 clean seconds.
Items (Zathong's counter list): %-HP damage and penetration — Demon Hunter Sword, Malefic Roar, Divine Glaive, Genius Wand; Winter Crown to survive the suppression window. Play patterns: (1) Stand behind a minion. The hook takes the first unit it touches — the wave is a bodyguard that respawns. (2) Punish the clock: hook down = 15 seconds where he's a slow man with a slam; ult down = 45–62. (3) CC the executioner: Bloody Hunt ends early if Franco gets controlled (Fandom) — hold one stun for the 1.8 seconds. (4) Purify is a half-answer: it beats the hook's stun, but Suppression is explicitly excluded from it — the tooltip sells safety it doesn't stock.
Mistakes everyone makes
MLBBHub's Franco autopsy list — all five still true at 41.5% win rate: - "Hook the Tank, Become the Engage": Pulling a Tigreal, Atlas or Khufra into your team doesn't start your fight — it starts *theirs*, with their AoE stun already in melee range of your marksman. You saved them the walk. - "Fog Without Stacks": Rotating the second your health bar twitches. An unstacked Franco has normal speed and a normal hook; the stacked one is faster, healing, and hits up to 150% harder. Sit. Wait. Then move. - "S2 First, Stacks Gone": Casting Fury Shock before Iron Hook with Wasteland Force loaded. The passive consumes on the *next cast* — you just spent your one amplified skill on a cheap slow. - "The Solo Sentence": Ulting a hooked carry with nobody in follow-up range. Suppression is 1.8 seconds of free hits only if your team is standing there to take them. A solo Bloody Hunt is a hug. - "The Spray": Hooking off cooldown because the button is up — into minions, into tanks, into dash-up targets whose i-frames eat the drag. Every miss is public information: the enemy knows where you are and how long you're harmless.
FAQ
- Does Purify remove Bloody Hunt? No. Suppression is explicitly excluded from Purify's cleanse (MLBBHub; Fandom: "cannot be removed"). The one real exception is Diggie's Time Journey, which strips it after it lands (MLBBHub + 1v9) — why the egg is his draft veto.
- Why is his win rate the lowest in the game if he's so feared? Because the average is made of every Franco, including the ones hooking minions. One skill carries his whole game: land it and he's a funeral, miss it and he's a 15-second spectator (MLBBDex). The 3.3% ban rate is the fear; the 41.5% is the follow-through.
- Who does he actually beat? Standing-still heroes, measured: Fanny wins just 46% into him (MLBBHub's counter data), Melissa's ultimate barrier doesn't stop the hook — it pulls her out and the barrier evaporates (ONE Esports) — and Khufra's Bouncing Ball ends when Bloody Hunt lands.
- Can Bloody Hunt be interrupted? From the victim's side, no. From Franco's side, yes — crowd control on Franco ends it early (Fandom). If nobody peels for it, the suppression doesn't finish.
- Is he hard to play? MLBBHub rates him Easy, and Moonton's design ratings (via MLBBHub's compare table) give him Control 100/100 with Difficulty 20. The buttons are simple. The game is prediction, patience, and draft reading.
Final verdict
Franco in Season 42 is the worst hero in Mobile Legends by the only number the trackers agree on — and the only tank whose ban rate triples his pick rate, because everybody has been on the wrong end of the one hook that mattered. Moonton hasn't tuned him in years; he doesn't need tuning. He needs a target who has to stand still, a bush, and five quiet seconds.
Play him if: the enemy draft has a standing-still carry or a channel ultimate (Layla, Pharsa, Odette, Hanabi, a walking healer), your team has burst that converts 1.8 seconds of suppression into a kill, and no Diggie is hovering over the draft like a small feathery lawyer.
Skip him if: the enemy comp is dashes, cleanses and i-frames — or your team already owns an engage tank and needs a frontline, not a fisherman: a hook thrown at weather.
