Khufra MLBB Guide: The Ball That Says No (Season 42)
Khufra wins ~55% of his games and almost nobody plays him. The mummy who made dashing illegal: full kit, wall-slam combos, the build, and how to counter him.
The Lancelot dives my marksman the way Lancelots do — all confidence and choreography — and his dash takes him straight through me. Except I'm in Bouncing Ball, so the dash takes him nowhere: it bounces him off a mummy, airborne, and he lands exactly where I wanted him — between me and the Lord pit wall. Tyrant's Rage pulls him in, the wall catches him, slow becomes stun with 150% bonus damage on top, and my team deletes him mid-apology. His Fanny watches from the river. She's seen this film — she starred in it twice.
That's Khufra. Welcome in. He's the Desert Tyrant, a mummy king so power-drunk Esmeralda — the astrologer who loved him — sealed him in a tomb (Fandom's story), and the only hero in Mobile Legends who made *dashing itself* a punishable offence. Season 42 never touched him, the trackers have him winning ~55% of his games, and almost nobody plays him: 0.3% pick rate. The dash meta's bogeyman sits unbanned in every draft.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Bouncing Ball is not a skill, it's legislation. While it's up he gains up to +100% Physical and Magic Defense — and any enemy who uses a blink or dash skill *across* him gets knocked airborne instead. Fanny's cables, Ling's wall hops, Lancelot's whole personality: illegal within bouncing distance. Layer Tyrant's Rage on top — a pull that stuns and adds 150% bonus damage if it knocks you into a wall — and Khufra owns both halves of a dash hero's life: you can't leave, and where you land hurts.
Love second: he pays himself for bullying. Spell Curse heals him for 8% of his Max HP per landing, and his own crowd control keeps refunding it — the longer he bullies, the longer he lives. And the lore tax is perfect: the passive is *Esmeralda's* curse, from the lover who sealed him away; they still trade dialogue in-match (Fandom trivia) — the game's first, and saddest, couple's mechanic.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Khufra is not on the adjustment list. The full verified list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus adjustments (buffs Kalea, Cici, Alpha, Kagura, Edith, Karina, Kaja; nerfs Melissa, Miya, Hanabi, Yi Sun-shin, Paquito, Kadita; Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Lukas, Odette, Sun, Marcel besides) — cross-checked vs blooing's roundup and Liquipedia (via EliteDias): zero mentions. His last touches are older passive buffs — 2.1.40 (Spell Curse cooldown) and 2.1.88 (enhanced-attack damage), per MLBBHub.
Patch 2.2.16a (14 October 2026): documented changes are a Kalea buff and nerfs to Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela (Kazuki Official's roundup) — no Khufra, and with no official Fandom page for the sub-patch, any "secret Khufra tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED].
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 54.7% WR, 0.3% pick, 1.9% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026): S tier in Roam — 54.6% WR, 1.9% ban. - MLBB.io (data updated 19 Oct 2026): A tier (down from S), 54.9% WR, 0.3% pick. - MLCounter.com: S tier, 54.39% — but its page is a September snapshot with a 2.96% pick rate nobody else sees; trust the win rate, not the pick number.
The chorus: 54.4–54.9% — the highest tank win rate I've covered this season, on a hero almost nobody picks. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Khufra threads surfaced this season, so this is labelled tracker/creator material: MLBBDex calls him a "structural response to the entire category of mobile heroes" and blames him for Lancelot's C-tier seat; MLBBHub's thesis is that he's a *pick-condition* hero — if you can't name the enemy he's meant to shut down, he isn't the pick. My tier verdict: A. By raw numbers he's Season 42's strongest roam tank; by design he's a counterpick with a clause — into two or more blink-and-dash heroes he plays a tier up, into a static poke comp he's a durable spectator.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2779→6139.
- Passive — Spell Curse: Every 12 seconds his next Basic Attack gains range (4.9) and deals Magic Damage of (+120% Total Physical Attack) plus 6% of the target's Max HP, slows 30% for 1.5s, and heals him by 8% of his Max HP on hit. Every control effect his skills land on a hero cuts the cooldown by 4 seconds — a sustain engine: CC people, heal, repeat.
- Skill 1 — Tyrant's Revenge: A charged blink. He pulls the bandage and launches himself forward, dealing 50–100 plus 7 (+1.5% Extra Physical Attack)% of his Max HP Physical Damage on the path; stopping at max distance or the first enemy hero, he deals the same around him and knocks enemies airborne for up to 1.1 seconds. Charge up to 1.5s (3s overcharge) — distance and airborne duration scale with charge. Cooldown 15.0→10.0s from when the charge starts; cancelling it manually halves it.
- Skill 2 — Bouncing Ball: He becomes the ball: +30% to +100% Physical & Magic Defense by level. Enemies who use a blink skill to move across him are knocked airborne. Each bounce landing deals Magic Damage of 50–100 plus 3 (+2% Extra Physical Attack)% of his Max HP nearby and slows 80% for 0.2s. Cooldown flat 10.0s. Fine print that decides games: the ball can only be interrupted by airborne, frozen, suppression or transformation effects — and it cannot disable the Flicker battle spell (Fandom note).
- Ultimate — Tyrant's Rage: Pulls all enemies around him toward his front for 300–600 (+100% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage and a 1.25–1.75s slow. If they are knocked against a wall, they take extra Physical Damage equal to 150% of the skill's damage and are stunned instead of slowed. Cooldown 50/45/40. *Practical note: the pull drags people toward where he faces — his feet choose the wall, not his hopes.*
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Tyrant's Revenge first (its cooldown is your engage clock — 15s at rank 1 is an eternity), Bouncing Ball second (flat cooldown; levels buy defense).
Combos
- "The Wall Slam" (the standard): Conceal from fog → charge Tyrant's Revenge so the target ends up between you and a wall → knock-up → Bouncing Ball *before* the ult (MLBBHub's rule — the panic blink airbornes them) → Tyrant's Rage into the wall → stun, bonus damage, Spell Curse basic to heal on the way out.
- "The Ball Block" (anti-dash ambush): Don't chase the dash hero. Plant Bouncing Ball in their route — Fanny's cable line, the gap your carry retreats through, the wall Ling commutes on — and wait. MLBBHub's framing: ball between the carry and their exit; they blink and fly, or don't and die to your team. You are not a chaser. You are a road closure.
- "The Flicker Ball": Flicker during Bouncing Ball extends the jump distance and crosses walls neither would clear alone (MLBBHub's tip). It also patches S1's rudest flaw — the charge stops on the first hero or creep touched, and Flicker doesn't care. A short S1 tap: minimal charge, instant knock-up, channels like Odette's and Pharsa's cancelled, half the cooldown refunded.
Rotation and map control
Level 1 (MLBBHub's script): take Tyrant's Revenge, leash your jungler's blue, rotate straight to gold. Don't take Bouncing Ball first — one point of it threatens nobody. Level 2: sit in the gold-lane bush. If their marksman has a dash (Beatrix, Claude), pre-ball their escape route; if they don't (Layla, Miya), burn S1 and commit. Level 4 is your ambush window: full kit while most tanks are still waiting on theirs — ward their jungle entrance ~1:50, set up on their red at 2:00 with your jungler.
The spike: Tough Boots + Cursed Helmet, roughly 8–10 minutes (MLBBHub). The helmet matters because Khufra's wave clear is a war crime against his own cooldowns — the burn clears for him, so S1 and S2 stay saved for fights — and past it he can engage into two enemies and walk out. Mid/late: stop roaming alone. From minute 14, exist within ball range of your marksman when the assassin jumps (MLBBHub) — his late game is a peel made of altitude. Never chase into fog: a failed chase on his cooldowns is a free window with your name on it.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
Battle spell: Flicker. MLBBHub: "Flicker over Sprint, every game." It extends the ball, fixes S1's stop-on-first-touch problem, and manufactures wall angles. The Fandom guide also lists Vengeance for brawl-heavy lobbies. Roam blessing: Conceal (ONE Esports lists him among its best users).
The locked slots (MLBBHub): Tough Boots (most drafts carry the CC) → Cursed Helmet (wave clear + defense shred) → Antique Cuirass (Deter stacks punish multi-hit carries — Fanny mains file complaints). Flex, by lobby: - Dominance Ice — the anti-heal slot (MLBBHub's FAQ core three): Lifebane cuts nearby shields/regen to 60% vs sustain cores (Alucard, Esmeralda). - Athena's Shield — vs a single burst mage (Eudora, Kagura). Radiant Armor — vs sustained magic instead (Cecilion, Pharsa). - Blade Armor — vs basic-attack carries who must shoot through you (the Fandom guide's Team Buff set runs it with Thunder Belt and Oracle). - Oracle — when your team brings healing worth amplifying (Estes, Floryn). - Immortality — last. MLBBHub is explicit: bought third or fourth it's his weakest default buy — the revive shield pops before three real defensive items exist. A capstone, not a core.
Emblem: Tank — and unlike Tigreal and Atlas, this debate barely exists. MLBBHub's FAQ, the Fandom guide and Zathong all land on Tank: Vitality / Tenacity / Concussive Blast. MLBB.io's tracked sample is one build (Fighter emblem, Revitalize) — a rounding error, not a school.
How to counter him
Three trackers, one shopping list. MLBBHub's measured counters (biggest ranked edges): Zhuxin, Alice and Marcel. MLBB.io names Alice, Zhuxin and Minotaur. MLCounter.com's matchup table (small samples — direction, not gospel): Khufra wins only 41% vs Minsitthar, 45% vs Wanwan, 46% vs Valir, 47% vs Diggie. The patterns: CC immunity — Diggie's Time Journey is the draft veto, Wanwan's cleanse breaks his chain, Valir's ult shrugs it off; suppression — Franco and Kaja stop every skill cold, and his wind-ups are slow enough to hook on reaction (DuniaGames, VCGamers); poke — Pharsa, Valir, Xavier, X.Borg, Novaria never blink, so the ball is furniture while they chip him out of engaging (MLBBHub's avoid-list; MLCounter: poke him low, he cannot initiate). Two MLBBHub draft warnings: X.Borg (Firaga Armor eats the engage, he rolls out invincible) and Karrie (Phantom Step is a displacement, *not* a blink — no ball trigger — and her passive shreds his HP).
Items (MLCounter + Fandom guide): anti-heal first — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice; %-HP damage (Demon Hunter Sword, Wishing Lantern) and penetration (Malefic Roar, Divine Glaive, Genius Wand); Winter Crown to blank the slam; Purify on his targets. Play patterns: (1) Fight away from walls. No wall inside the pull means a slow, not a stun, and no 150% bonus — an open-ground Tyrant's Rage is a repositioning tool, not a death sentence. (2) CC the wind-ups: CC cancels the S1 charge and the ult pull (Fandom guide; MLCounter), and Petrify stops even the ball cold. (3) Punish the clocks: S1 is 15s early, the ult 50s at rank 1 — after a spent ult he's a slow man in bandages for a minute. (4) Don't cluster — and never dash through him "to reposition."
Mistakes everyone makes
MLBBHub's Khufra autopsy list — all five still true at 54.7% win rate: - "Ball Form as a Taxi": Rolling the ball across a lane to save time. It's slow, visible from a screen away, and burns your anti-blink cooldown for nothing — no blink to punish, and the ball is an overpriced speed boost with a long tell. - "The Open-Ground Ult": Ulting because the carry is *in range*, no terrain behind the pull: slow + flat damage instead of stun + 150%. An uncast ult beats a cast one with no wall behind it. - "S1 Is the Engage": Charging straight onto the marksman feels right and isn't — S1 is how you *arrive*. S1 first strands you inside their team with no ball, no defense boost, no escape: position first, ball down, *then* ult. - "Firaga Greed": Engaging X.Borg while his armor is up: your whole kit chips an armor pool, he rolls away invincible, the wall-slam hits nobody. Crack the armor first. - "The Early Hero" / "The AWOL Bodyguard": Forcing fights before the boots + Cursed Helmet spike (a dead tank is a zero-utility tank), then roaming alone at 14–18 minutes while the assassin you exist to stop jumps your marksman. Your late game is a postcode: next to your carry.
FAQ
- Does Bouncing Ball stop Flicker? No — the most-missed fine print in his kit. Fandom is explicit: the ball cannot disable the Flicker battle spell. It punishes blink/dash *skills*; Flicker stays legal — why smart carries take it into him.
- Why is he at ~55% win rate but 0.3% pick rate? Counterpick maths: he's drafted almost only into dash-heavy teams where his one rule decides fights, so the win rate measures the condition, not a hero you can blind-lock.
- Who does he actually beat? Dash carries, measured: Fanny wins just 46% vs him (MLBBHub), and MLCounter has him at 56–57% vs Lancelot and Gusion.
- Can Tyrant's Rage be interrupted? The cast and pull can be cancelled by control effects (MLCounter) — suppression (Franco, Kaja) is the premium answer. The ball is sturdier: only airborne, frozen, suppressed or transformed effects break it (Fandom).
- Is he hard to play? Medium (MLBBHub); Moonton's ratings: Control 10/10, difficulty 5/10 (via MLBB.io). The buttons are simple; the game is charge timing, wall geometry, and cooldown discipline.
Final verdict
Khufra in Season 42 is a 55%-win-rate mummy who holds the game's only restraining order against a movement mechanic. Moonton ignored him in both patches, the trackers can't decide if he's S or A, and the pick rate says most players would rather lose to a Fanny than learn to bounce. He doesn't win the stat sheet — he's barely on it. He wins the moment the enemy assassin presses their favourite button and the game says no.
Play him if: the enemy draft shows two or more blink-and-dash heroes (Fanny, Ling, Lancelot, Gusion, Harith), your team has follow-up damage that converts airborne into dead, and you can read a wall the way other tanks read a minimap.
Skip him if: the enemy comp is poke, CC immunity and heroes who never dash — or your team needs a babysitter frontline, not a specialist. Khufra into a static draft isn't a bad tank pick. It's a road closure on a road nobody drives.
