Carmilla MLBB Guide: Hurt One, Bill Them All (Season 42)
A 53.9% win rate, a 16% ban rate, and an ultimate that makes one enemy's bad day everybody's bad day. Carmilla, read honestly: the link, the spin sustain, the Cecilion wedding, and the spreads that starve her.
Why she's feared (and loved)
Lord pit, minute thirteen, and the enemy does the polite thing: all five walk in together, tank first, like a school trip. I toss the curse mid-pit — a red field, a 50% slow, less than a second to leave. They don't. The field blooms, chains snap between all five, and my jungler hits one of them. Everyone pays half. My Bloodbath lands on their marksman — a stun meant for one person — and the whole linked team stands still for the full sentence. That's Carmilla, the Shadow of Twilight (Fandom). She doesn't crowd-control you. She crowd-controls your friendships.
Feared, because Curse of Blood is the rudest arithmetic in the game: damage one linked enemy and the rest take 50%; control one and the rest wear 100% of it. Loved, because she's a support who duels like a fighter — her passive steals up to 55 of both defenses just for touching you, and her Crimson Flowers pay HP back for every hit inside the spin. The lore is the kit: per her Fandom story she died for Cecilion and woke up a Blood Demon in his arms — and in-game the two merge, her shadow wrapped around him, one shield, two cooldown bars. Most supports babysit. Carmilla got married and made it a mechanic.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Carmilla has no balance change. She's absent from the verified adjustment list (Masha/Bruno revamps + 22 adjustments), and blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup — buffs, nerfs, tweaks, Classic pass, both Brawl columns, read end to end — mentions her zero times. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): the documented list (Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Carmilla, so any "secret Carmilla tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED]. Her last documented change is ancient and built the modern hero: Patch 1.7.32 (ONE Esports) reworked Curse of Blood from a targeted chain into the tossed field she has now — linked damage cut 70% → 50%, linked control raised 70% → 100%. Staleness flag: Fandom's ult table still prints the pre-rework 275/400/525 base damage while its prose prints 450–750 (+130% Total Magic Power) — prose and ONE Esports agree, so the prose governs below.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (Season 42, patch 2.2.16a, all ranks, last 7 days; checked 21 Oct 2026): S tier — 53.85% WR, 1.17% pick, 16.12% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026): S+ group in Roam — 53.9% WR, 1.2% pick, 16.3% ban. - MLBB.io (data updated 20 Oct 2026): SS tier (risen S→SS) — 53.8% WR; its October Insights file her "Strong & Spammed," one of the most-picked roamers in Mythical Glory+, still winning 53%. - EliteDias (updated Oct 2026): S tier among Tanks on the same 53.8% — Gfinity's only S-tier tank, and its note is the draft thesis: her ultimate pairs with the burst Masha and Argus bring.
The chorus: 53.8–53.9% win rate, ~1.2% pick, ~16% ban — for once the desks don't argue; S-family letters everywhere. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Carmilla threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only. My tier verdict: A+. The S paperwork is real, and so is the condition: a healer always heals, but a link can return *zero* — whiff the field, or draft her into a team that won't stand together, and her ult is a red puddle. In her drafts she's the strongest roam on this tracker page. Blind, she's half of one.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2528→5706, mana 500→1900, Physical Attack 126→255, MS 255. Official ratings (via MLBB.io): Durability 9, Offense 2, Control 8, Difficulty 1. Specialty: Crowd Control/Damage (Fandom). - Passive — Vampire Pact: Each time she deals damage to an enemy hero, she steals 7–11 Physical and Magic Defense (scales with her level). Stacks up to 5 times — 35 to 55 of both defenses — lasts 5 seconds, one steal per hero per 5 seconds. Only basics and skills trigger it. Fine print (Fandom): enemies can Purify the debuff off. - Skill 1 — Crimson Flower: Two flowers circle her for 5 seconds. Each hit deals 100–200 (+50% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and slows 10% for 0.8s, stacking to 50%; the flowers spin faster with every hit. Each hit heals her 75–150 (+35% Total Magic Power) — 30% of that vs minions. Cooldown flat 9.0s; mana 50–90; 50% spell vamp ratio. Her trade engine: stealing defense, getting paid HP to stand in your face. - Skill 2 — Bloodbath: First cast: she charges up and gains 70% Movement Speed decaying over 4.5s. Full charge takes 2.5s (overcharge 2s more). Recast on a target enemy hero or creep: 150–300 (+120% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and a stun up to 0.6s — damage and stun scale with charge time. Cooldown 12→8s, starting only when she fires or the charge expires; mana 85–160. - Ultimate — Curse of Blood: She tosses the curse at a target location, slowing enemies hit by 50%. After 0.8 seconds, enemies still inside take 450–750 (+130% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage, are immobilized for 1s, slowed 30%, and linked for 5 seconds. The link is the whole hero: when a linked enemy takes damage or gets controlled, every other linked target takes 50% of that damage and 100% of the control duration. Enemies break it by moving apart (Fandom doesn't publish the break range). Cooldown 60/52/44s; mana 150–200. - Partner Skill — Vermeil Shadow (only with an allied Cecilion): Cecilion summons her and she wraps around him as a shadow — untargetable, granting him a 520–800 shield (scaling with her level). Recast within 5s: she charges out with the same shield, dealing 520–800 Magic Damage, slowing enemies hit 30% for 1s — and her Crimson Flower and Bloodbath cooldowns reset. His mirror skill is Moonlit Waltz — and if Carmilla buys Broken Heart, he can't use it (Fandom). The marriage is still in the game: a second rotation, not a cosmetic.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate at 4/8/12, Crimson Flower first (the steal-and-sustain engine), Bloodbath second.
Combos
- "The Wedding Crashers" (her real engage): charge Bloodbath from fog, stun the carry, then toss Curse of Blood over the cluster while they're held — ONE Esports' timing doctrine in one motion: the link pays most when burst lands *during* it, not after.
- "The Shared Sentence": Curse of Blood first onto a grouped team → Bloodbath stun *any* linked target → the stun copies to every linked enemy at 100% duration (Fandom). Stun the reachable one; the link delivers it.
- "The Petrify Pin": link lands → Petrify immediately, before the scatter (the tracked-builds spell — 60% of MLBB.io's sampled builds). The link breaks when they move apart, so don't let them.
- "The Shadow Entrance" (the Cecilion combo): ride Vermeil Shadow in on Cecilion, detach-charge onto the backline shield-up, then enjoy a *refreshed* Crimson Flower and Bloodbath. Two rotations from one wedding.
Rotation and map control
She's a roam who wins the roam lane by brawling it. Crimson Flower sustain plus defense stealing makes long trades hers: MLCounters.app's October lane data has her beating Hilda, Gloo and Estes, and running 62–67% early against Angela and Natalia before those two flip her late. Start with your jungler, spin through his camp, then go be a problem in a lane — every flower tick on a hero is defense they don't have for five seconds.
Level 4 rewrites every skirmish she's in. Play around pit mouths and jungle doors: the curse field wants a chokepoint, because the 0.8s delay makes open-ground casts a warning, not a trap. At Turtle and Lord the field goes on the ground the enemy must cross to contest — MLBBHub's community builds even teach circling the Turtle to body-block the steal. Her draft job splits by team: beside a real engage tank she's the second act — link after their set, Bloodbath as peel. Without one she's the initiator, and EliteDias' note applies: she cashes burst — no burst means a group discount nobody redeems. And post-link, *stay in the fight*: her passive and flowers only pay while she's touching people.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
The locked spine (ONE Esports' guide and 1v9's guide run the identical line): Tough Boots → Thunder Belt → Dominance Ice. Thunder Belt's true-damage basic suits a skill-then-touch kit; Dominance Ice taxes attack-speed carries and cuts healing around her. Then Athena's Shield vs magic burst, Guardian Helmet, Immortality sixth — Blade Armor or Antique Cuirass the swaps into physical dive (1v9). The Encourage school (Zathong's team-buff and durable sets agree): Demon Shoes (Encourage) → Cursed Helmet → Dominance Ice → Oracle → Immortality — Cursed Helmet's burn ticks her passive on everyone; Oracle amplifies the flower healing. Emblem: Tank — Agility / Wilderness Blessing / Concussive Blast (MLBB.io tracked builds: Tank emblem in 8 of 10, Concussive Blast in 8 of 10). The Support emblem is the older guide school (Zathong); tracked data has moved to Tank. Battle spell — an honest split. Petrify leads tracked builds (60% on MLBB.io): link, Petrify, nobody scatters. The guide school runs Flicker or Vengeance (Zathong); Revitalize shows in 20% of tracked builds. My call: Petrify with a burst team, Flicker when you're the only engage. Roam blessing: Encourage (Zathong).
How to counter her
Two tracker families, one verdict: spread out, poke her from where she can't answer, tax the healing. MLBB.io's measured counters (current-patch data): X.Borg, Valentina and Lesley — true damage that ignores stolen armor, a mage who steals the Curse for herself, a sniper she never reaches. MLCounters.app's roam data adds Lolita, who beats her at every stage (she wins only 42–45% there); Angela and Natalia flip her late. MLCounter.com's matchup table (older dataset, Aug 2026 — direction, not gospel) prices the same school: just 41% vs Lunox (325 games), 42% vs Martis (976), 43% vs Baxia (313), 46% vs Sun. Baxia deserves the name: his passive anti-heal cuts the sustain that *is* her durability. - Items: anti-heal — Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand, Dominance Ice (MLCounter); penetration Malefic Roar, Genius Wand, Divine Glaive vs the stolen defenses; %HP Demon Hunter Sword, Wishing Lantern; MLBB.io adds Athena's Shield, Dominance Ice, Tough Boots. - Play patterns (MLCounter): never stand close together — the link needs a crowd; kill her first (she's stealing your backline's armor by existing near them); poke from range — she's short-ranged with no blink; end early and refuse long fights, where her healing compounds; separate her from her team first. Who she counters — also measured (MLBB.io): Chip, Popol and Kupa, Minotaur — grouped, front-to-back teams she links wholesale. MLCounter adds the dive school that must stand on her: Gusion 57% (344 games), Aurora 56%, Julian 55%, Pharsa 54%. Melee-heavy drafts are her buffet.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Solo Curse": Tossing Curse of Blood on one isolated target. A link with one node shares nothing — no 50% tax, no copied stun, just a 60-second cooldown and a red puddle (kit arithmetic; MLCounter's anti-Carmilla doctrine is the mirror: never give her a crowd).
- "The Open Charge": Winding up Bloodbath in plain sight. The charge takes 2.5 seconds and the speed decays — charging in the open announces the stun to a team that pokes or CCs her first; she has no blink to fix a read engage (MLCounter: stun her before she gets close; poke from afar).
- "The Lifebane Spin": Spinning Crimson Flower into a finished anti-heal item. Her durability *is* the heal — into Sea Halberd, Glowing Wand or Dominance Ice the flowers return a fraction, and the support face-tanking on sustain math dies on it (MLCounter's item counters).
- "The Hit-and-Run Link": Landing a beautiful five-man link, then retreating to peel. The link breaks when enemies move apart and pays only while her team hits linked targets — walking away refunds their formation (Fandom's link rules).
- "The Tank Cosplay": Frontlining alone into a poke comp because the Durability rating says 9. She's Support/Tank with a melee kit and no dash; face-checking a Lesley or Lunox lane solo turns 53.9% into 43% (MLCounter's matchup table).
FAQ
- Did Carmilla change in Season 42? No. Absent from 2.2.16's verified list and blooing's complete roundup; the documented 2.2.16a list excludes her too — anything else is [UNCONFIRMED]. Last documented change: Patch 1.7.32's Curse of Blood rework (ONE Esports).
- How does the link actually share? When a linked enemy takes damage or gets controlled, every *other* linked enemy takes 50% of the damage and 100% of the control duration, for 5 seconds — unless they move apart and break it (Fandom).
- Why do Fandom's own ult numbers disagree? Its prose prints 450–750 (+130% Total Magic Power); its level table still shows the pre-rework 275/400/525. Patch 1.7.32 (ONE Esports) confirms the prose.
- Does the Cecilion thing still exist? Yes. Her Fandom page carries Vermeil Shadow today: she wraps onto Cecilion untargetable, shields him 520–800, and can charge out with Skill 1 and 2 refreshed. Buy Broken Heart and his Moonlit Waltz is disabled (Fandom).
- Petrify or Flicker? Petrify leads tracked builds (60% on MLBB.io) — it holds the scatter after the link. Flicker (and Vengeance) is the guide school's pick (Zathong).
Final verdict
Carmilla in Season 42 is the link tax made flesh: 53.8–53.9% win rates, S-family letters on every desk, a 16% ban rate — all conditional on the oldest rule in teamfighting, that the enemy stands near each other. When they do, she pre-sells the damage, copying half of it and all of the crowd control across the team while stealing their armor and healing off the contact. When they spread and poke, she's a melee support with a puddle.
Play her if: the enemy draft is melee-heavy or front-to-back (Chip, Minotaur, grouped dive), your team owns real burst to pour into a five-second link — a Masha, an Argus, a fed mage — or there's a Cecilion beside you and you want the wedding's second rotation.
Skip her if: the enemy shows X.Borg, Valentina, Lesley or a spread poke comp, your team has no burst to cash the link, or the enemy buys anti-heal early and plays keep-away. Take Estes or Rafaela and heal honestly. Carmilla doesn't win spacing wars — she wins the fight where everyone showed up holding hands.
