Aamon MLBB Guide: The Man You Cannot Aim At (Season 42)
A 50.2% win rate on the assassin you cannot aim at. Aamon, honestly: the camouflage that heals, the shards on the floor, and the ultimate that only pays out on a bleeding target.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Minute eleven, their mage steps half a screen too far from her tower to clear the wave — alone, which is the only way this story ever starts. She never sees me. Slayer Shards through her, camouflage, the guided enhanced basic blinking me onto her back, Soul Shards, one more enhanced hit — and then Endless Shards, every shard I own converging on a target already below half health, where the ultimate does its maximum damage. She dies to a man who was invisible for most of it. That is Aamon, the Duke of Shards — head of House Paxley, Gusion's elder brother, and the family's secret, dishonourable spell made flesh (Fandom's story). He is feared because his burst starts from a state where he cannot be targeted — you cannot trade with, peel off, or even aim at a camouflaged Aamon. He is loved because the kit is one honest loop: throw shards, vanish, spend the enhanced basic, repeat, and once the floor is littered with glass and the target is softened, call every shard home at once. The catch is printed on the same page: no crowd control at all, an early game of pure farming, and an ultimate that is a finisher wearing an opener's clothes. Play him as the second thing that happens to a target, and he deletes people. Play him as the first, and he is a 2614-HP magician doing card tricks in front of a firing squad.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Patch paperwork first. Patch 2.2.16 (16 Sep 2026) did not touch Aamon — absent from the verified adjustment list, and blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup, read end to end, never mentions him in the ranked, Classic or Brawl sections. The documented 2.2.16a list (14 Oct 2026: Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Aamon either — any contrary claim is [UNCONFIRMED], and none surfaced. Fandom's Aamon patch-history page says his last documented change is ancient: Patch 1.8.20, a BUFF — Endless Shards' range reverted 3.5 → 4 after Moonton admitted the previous adjustment "has nerfed Aamon's Ultimate too much". Before that sits a nerf trail (1.6.34, 1.6.42: camouflage duration and regen trimmed twice) with a 1.6.72 Skill 1 buff in between. Season 42 Aamon is a settled hero, for better and worse.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton data): - MLBBHub (statistics refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 50.1% win rate, ~0.6% pick; Jungle. Its counter data (updated 19 Oct 2026) feeds the counters below. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 19 Oct 2026, patch 2.2.16): A tier, Jungle — 50.3% win rate, 0.6% pick, 2.3% ban. - MLBB.io (data updated 20 Oct 2026): B tier, dropped from A — 50.2% win rate, 0.7% pick. - Pocket Gamer (17 Oct 2026): S among Assassins — an editorial read the win rates do not back.
Chorus: 50.1–50.3% win rate on every current desk — coin-flip-plus, defined. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Aamon threads surfaced — tracker/creator material only: LDShop's heritage line calls him "a nightmare for a team with no AoE", and creators still sell him as an instant-delete pick; the trackers' colder read is below.
My tier verdict: B+. A-tier paperwork at MLBBDex, B at MLBB.io, and a win rate that never leaves the 50s — the plus is for what the average hides: into a draft with no reveal or AoE, he plays a full tier up.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2614→4742, Mana 500→1900, Physical Attack 115→255, Movement Speed 250. Moonton's ratings (via MLBB.io): Offense 7, Durability 3, Control 1, Difficulty 6. Released 26 October 2021. - Passive — Invisible Armor: every time Aamon hits an enemy with a skill, he enters Camouflage: he cannot be targeted, restores 25 (+15% Total Magic Power) (+3% of his Lost HP) HP every 0.6 seconds, and gains +60% Movement Speed that rapidly decays over 3.5s. Leaving Camouflage resets his basic attack cooldown and enhances his basics for 2.5s: each enhanced basic deals 100 (+100% Total Physical Attack) (+65% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and cuts his skill cooldowns by 0.5s — and the first one deals 120% if he leaves Camouflage actively, by choice. Fandom's note: the enhanced basic is *guided* — it blinks him to the target (range 3) before striking. The heal, the speed and the reset all live in this passive; it is the whole hero. - Skill 1 — Soul Shards: two halves. *Passive:* he charges his armor on every skill cast and every skill or enhanced-basic hit; at 5 charges, his next attack throws 6 shards, each dealing 40–100 (+15% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage, which then scatter around the target. *Active:* a shard at a nearby enemy for 150–300 (+60% Total Magic Power). Cooldown 9.0→6.5s, mana 60–90. Fine print (Fandom): scattered shards lie on the ground for 8 seconds, visible to everyone, capped at 12 on the field — the ultimate's ammunition. - Skill 2 — Slayer Shards: a shard thrown forward, dealing 120–220 (+50% Total Magic Power) to the first non-minion enemy hit and slowing them 50% for 2s; the shard returns immediately. The genius clause: if it misses, it returns after a short delay and camouflages him anyway — a whiff is a free reposition-and-heal, not a wasted button. Cooldown 15.0→12.5s, mana 110→80. - Ultimate — Endless Shards: he throws all his shards at one enemy — 30% slow for 1.5s — and after a short delay they converge on the target's location again, each shard dealing from 90–110 (+24% Total Magic Power) up to 150–180 (+40% Total Magic Power). Two scalings run it: the shard count rises with his armor charges plus the shards on the ground (8–25 shards), and per-shard damage rises with the target's lost HP, maxing below 30% HP. Mercies: the same target takes 50% less from subsequent shards, and Fandom's note warns the target can dodge the convergence entirely with Flicker or a mobility skill timed to it. Cooldown 46/42/38s, mana 150–190. - Skill priority, my way: Soul Shards maxed first — it is both halves of his damage economy and its cooldown feeds everything. Slayer Shards second, Endless Shards at 4/8/12. First point: Soul Shards, for the clear.
Combos
- The standard deletion (LootBar's sequence): Slayer Shards → Camouflage → enhanced basic → Soul Shards → enhanced basic → basics and skills → Endless Shards last. Camouflage is spent on positioning between hits; the ultimate is the receipt, never the introduction.
- The softening rule: because Endless Shards scales with lost HP, the combo's first job is getting the target under ~60% before you call the shards home. Ult a full-health carry and you have spent a 46-second cooldown on a light show.
- The ten-shard habit: creator school (Sky Wee, via ONE Esports) holds the ultimate until 10 or more shards are on the floor or charged. Count the glass first — an 8-shard ult and a 20-shard ult are different spells.
- The free vanish: between fights, throw Slayer Shards at nothing. The deliberate miss returns and camouflages you — heal ticks, +60% decaying speed, an enhanced basic waiting. His cheapest rotation tool.
Rotation and map control
Jungle is the desk — every current source files him there and nowhere else. His early clear is honest work, not a gank threat: he is item-dependent (MLCounter lists it as a core weakness) and his pre-core burst does not finish healthy targets. Farm the first rotation, take level 4, and only then start visiting lanes — as the second arrival. Aamon ganks best behind allied CC or a laner's poke, because his ultimate wants a target already bleeding.
The map habit that separates him: fight where your shards already are. The 8-second ground shards around a Turtle pit or a lane you just traded in are pre-loaded ultimate damage — bait the fight there instead of starting a fresh one across the map. Mid game, camouflage speed makes him a side-lane pickoff artist: sit in fog off the lane a lone marksman must farm, and never break camouflage on the first body that walks in if it is the tank. The guided basic blinks you to whoever you tap; tapping wrong is volunteering.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
First, a funeral. Older Aamon guides — Codashop's, the Sky Wee build on ONE Esports — open with Shadow Twinblades and Calamity Reaper. Both were removed in Patch 1.7.94 and merged into Starlium Scythe (Fandom's item page). A guide still listing them is teaching antiques. The current core: Ice Hunter's Arcane Boots → Starlium Scythe → Genius Wand → Holy Crystal. Zathong's burst set and Fandom's Aamon/Guide sets run this spine: Starlium Scythe's post-skill true-damage basic is built for his enhanced-basic loop, Genius Wand's shred stacks across his multi-hit shard skills, Holy Crystal multiplies everything. Spike: Scythe + Wand, ~minutes 8–10 — the first window where the full combo genuinely deletes a squishy. Flex after: Glowing Wand (sustain comps), Divine Glaive (magic-defense stacking), Blood Wings (late buffer), Feather of Heaven (sustained school), Winter Crown (survival vs divers). Emblem: Mage — the tracked plurality, with a dissent noted. MLBB.io's tracked builds run Mage in 5 of 11, with Rupture / Seasoned Hunter / Impure Rage the common row; LootBar's Mage row runs Seasoned Hunter into Killing Spree; Fandom's guide also files Mage. Zathong's Assassin emblem is the minority school — printed, not followed. Battle spell: Retribution, near-locked — 60% of MLBB.io's tracked builds, plus Ice Retribution in another 30% (Zathong's pick). He is a jungler; no second conversation.
How to counter him
Start with the measured edges. MLBBHub's counter page (ranked data updated 19 Oct 2026): Gloo +4.5 win-rate points, Lolita +3.7, Hayabusa +2.8, then Silvanna and Gusion — sustain that outlasts one burst, chain CC that catches him as camouflage ends, a rival jungler who hunts him at home. Its kit-match list adds the hard-CC family: Khufra, Minotaur, Atlas, Belerick — lockdown taxes a hero whose escape is a state, not a dash. - AoE is the reveal. MLCounter's anti-play is explicit: AoE skills combined with CC against the concealment, vision control, and never wander alone — camouflage stops *targeting*, not area damage. A stray AoE into the bush he vanished in is a legal answer. - Dodge the convergence. Endless Shards converges after a delay; Fandom's note says Flicker or a mobility skill timed to it avoids the damage. Winter Crown does the same job on an item slot (MLCounter). - Starve him. He is item-dependent and weakest early: invade, deny farm, force fights before Starlium Scythe exists (MLCounter). - The Gloo disagreement, printed honestly: MLBBHub's measured data makes Gloo his worst matchup (+4.5pp — sustain outlasts the burst and wins the long trade), while MLCounter's older table (small samples) has Aamon *beating* Gloo 56% across 178 games, and Zathong lists Gloo as Aamon food too. Measured current data governs my read — but know the other desk exists. Who he eats is the mirror: lone, immobile, no-reveal targets. MLCounter has him beating Phoveus 55% and Yve 54% — squishy backlines farming alone. Group up, and his whole menu closes.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Empty Ult": pressing Endless Shards with 8 shards and a full-HP target. No count, no execute scaling, no kill — a 46-second cooldown spent as confetti. Count the glass, soften the target (LootBar; ONE Esports' ten-shard habit).
- "The Wrong Body": breaking camouflage with the guided basic on the first unit in range — usually the tank who volunteered. The blink commits you, and the camouflage was the valuable part; spend it on the target that matters.
- "The Tank Dive": full-comboing a full-health frontliner because he was *there*. Your kit has Control 1 and no shred; the burst that deletes a mage dents a tank and strands you inside his team.
- "The Early Audition": skirmishing before Starlium Scythe because the passive feels strong. It isn't, yet — he is item-dependent (MLCounter), and a behind Aamon never catches up on pride.
- "The Visible Floor": forgetting your scattered shards are visible to everyone for 8 seconds (Fandom). A trail of glass is a map ping announcing where you have been fighting.
FAQ
- Did Patch 2.2.16 change Aamon? No — absent from the verified list, and blooing's full roundup never mentions him. The documented 2.2.16a list has no Aamon either; contrary claims are [UNCONFIRMED]. His last documented change is Patch 1.8.20's ultimate-range buff (Fandom patch history).
- Why do old guides build Shadow Twinblades and Calamity Reaper? Because they are old. Both were removed in Patch 1.7.94 and merged into Starlium Scythe — the current first core item.
- What actually breaks his camouflage? Targeted skills and basics cannot touch him in it — but AoE damage and CC still land (MLCounter's core anti-play), and the state ends on its timer or when he leaves it for the enhanced basic. Reveal effects and patience both work; standing still hoping does not.
- Mage or Assassin emblem? Mage, per the tracked plurality (MLBB.io), LootBar and Fandom's guide — his scalings are magic and Seasoned Hunter feeds the jungle. Zathong's Assassin row is the documented dissent.
- When is Endless Shards actually an execute? Per-shard damage maxes when the target is below 30% HP (Fandom) — which is why every sourced combo spends the ultimate last, on a target the first rotation already cut.
Final verdict
Aamon in Season 42 is a B+ with an A-tier temper. The desks land at 50.1–50.3% because the average Aamon game includes the parts he is bad at: the slow early clear, the draft that packed AoE and lockdown, the ultimate fired at a full-health tank out of boredom. Strip those away and the hero underneath is genuinely frightening — untargetable entries, a heal ticking inside his invisibility, and an execute that prints its scaling: more shards, lower target, bigger number. He is not a teamfight hero. He is a debt collector for every squishy who farms a side lane alone, and Season 42 keeps leaving those debts all over the map.
Play him if: your team already owns early skirmishes and CC setup, the enemy draft is short on AoE and reveal, and their carries like farming alone. Also play him if you enjoy being the reason the enemy mid laner buys a Winter Crown in minute nine.
Skip him if: the enemy draft shows Gloo, Lolita, Khufra or layered AoE, your team needs its jungler to start fights, or you cannot resist pressing the ultimate the second it lights up. Aamon doesn't win the fight in front of everyone. He ends the one nobody saw.
