Novaria MLBB Guide: Now You're 2.5 Times Easier to Hit (Season 42)
A 49.8% win rate, the longest snipe in mid lane, and an ultimate whose whole job is making you 2.5 times easier to hit. Novaria, read honestly: kit, build, counters.
Minute eleven, Lord pit. Their Tigreal is the fattest thing on the map — three defense items deep, standing in the pit entrance like he owns it. Most mages would aim past him. I aim Astral Echo straight down the lane, and suddenly the big man is two and a half times wider, lit up like a festival, with nowhere to hide. My Astral Meteor lands at his feet. My Astral Recall comes through the wall behind me, fully travelled, fully rude — and the tank who was supposed to protect his team becomes the hole I shoot through. That's Novaria. Welcome in. She's the Star Rebel of the Valley of Stars, the last Astral Artificer (Fandom's lore) — and a 1.3% pick rate (MLBBHub, checked 21 Oct 2026) says a small club has figured out what she actually is: not a burst mage. A sniper whose favourite target is the biggest one.
Why she's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Novaria's damage is percentage-shaped. Both sphere explosions — Astral Meteor's delayed pop and Astral Recall's impact — carry a slice of the target's Total HP on top of the magic damage, so the tank who stacked health to ignore mages has stacked her damage instead. MLBBHub's thesis in one line: the more health and magic defense the enemy frontline accumulates, the more her kit scales by design.
Love second: Astral Echo doesn't hurt anyone, and it's still the rudest button on her bar. Five seconds of revealed vision and a hitbox inflated to 2.5× size — and dashes and blinks don't shed it (MLBBHub). Skinny assassins become barn doors. Skillshot dodgers become stationary targets. She doesn't out-aim you. She makes aiming unnecessary.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Novaria has no balance change. She's absent from the verified adjustment list (Masha/Bruno revamps plus 22 adjustments), and blooing's complete roundup — buffs, nerfs, tweaks, Classic pass, both Brawl columns, read end to end — mentions her zero times. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): the documented list (Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Novaria, and no Fandom page exists for the sub-patch, so any "secret Novaria tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED]. Her last documented touches are older: Patch 2.1.95 reworked Astral Recall's movement speed into the decaying burst she has now (MLBBHub), after Patch 2.1.61's buff package — improved skill effects, reduced mana costs, better damage scaling — which MLBBHub's S40 tier list called the most substantial buff package any mage got that patch.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (refreshed daily, checked 21 Oct 2026): 49.8% WR, 1.3% pick, 3.9% ban; rated Hard. - MLBB.io (data updated 20 Oct 2026): A tier — 49.7% WR, 1.3% pick. - EliteDias (updated Oct 2026): A tier — 49.7% WR.
The chorus: 49.7–49.8% win rate on a 1.3% pick — A-tier letters wrapped around a sub-50 scoreline. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Novaria threads surfaced this season — tracker/creator material only, and the creators are blunt: MLBBHub won't discuss her without two fat enemy frontliners, an interceptor beside her, and an immobile enemy mid. My tier verdict: B+. The A is real in the drafts she's built for. The minus: she is the most condition-gated mid in this series — hardest skillshots in the lane, no real damage until two items land, and a win rate that counts how often lobbies meet her conditions. Draft her on purpose, or don't draft her.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2260→4150, mana 500→1900, MS 240. Moonton ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 3, Offense 9, Control 3 — an artillery stat line, not a duelist's. - Passive — Star Trail: Every Astral Sphere she summons slows nearby enemies by 20% and grants vision of them for 2 seconds. Her spheres are wards that bite. - Skill 1 — Astral Meteor: Drops a sphere that ticks 75–150 (+25% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to nearby enemies six times, then after 2 seconds explodes for 260–385 (+50% Total Magic Power) plus 4% of the enemy's Total HP, with the slow ramping to 50% at the pop. The ticks reveal enemies standing in it; the explosion reveals heroes for 2s. Cooldown 8.0→6.0s; mana 60–100. - Skill 2 — Astral Recall: Summons a sphere at a distance and draws it to her. On cast she gains 80% Movement Speed (decaying to 30%) and can pass through terrain; passing obstacles adds stacks and speed. When the sphere arrives she can launch it within 5 seconds: it explodes on the first enemy hero hit for 230–380 (+95% Total Magic Power) plus 5% of the enemy's Total HP (Fandom's level table; its description box prints 260–410), and the damage grows +15% per distance stack, up to 2.2×, the longer the sphere has travelled. Cooldown flat 8.0s; mana 60–110. The returning sphere reveals enemies it passes. This one button is her snipe, her escape and her skill check. - Ultimate — Astral Echo: Fires a ring 23 units down a line: enemy heroes hit are briefly slowed 50% (~0.8s) and wear the Astral Ring for 5 seconds — their hitbox grows to 2.5× and the area around them is revealed. No damage at all. Cooldown 45/40/35s; mana 100 — and the ring persists through dashes and blinks (MLBBHub): you can leave, but you can't get smaller.
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Astral Recall first (it's the burst — the snipe is the hero), Astral Meteor second. Level 1 still takes Meteor for wave control (MLBBHub's lane script).
Combos
- "The Big-Target Sermon": Astral Echo onto the frontline → Astral Recall launched from maximum travel through the ringed tank → Astral Meteor at his feet for the %HP pop. MLBBHub's core thesis in one sequence: the ring makes the snipe nearly undodgeable and the passive slow keeps him inside the meteor. Echo first, always — it deals no damage and exists to make everything after it land.
- "The Wall Snipe": Summon Astral Recall far out, then drift *away* from your target — through a wall if one's handy — while it travels. Every extra unit is damage (up to 2.2×); wall-passing adds stacks; launch from the terrain shadow, half-hidden (Fandom's notes). Fired point-blank, the same button is a water pistol.
- "The Door Tax": Astral Meteor parked on the objective door or the retreat line as the fight starts: six ticks of slow-zone, a %HP pop if they linger, Star Trail vision throughout.
Rotation and map control
Level 1: take Astral Meteor and use it for the wave first, harassment second (MLBBHub) — a sphere between you and the wave clears the casters while the slow zone stops the enemy mid trading freely. This is a poke lane, not a kill lane: farm, conserve mana, and don't die before Clock of Destiny starts stacking.
Level 2 changes the hero. Take Astral Recall and practise the distance mechanic from safety: summon far, let it travel, *then* fire. From here, the rule that keeps you alive — hold Recall as your escape, not your poke (MLBBHub). The 80% decaying burst plus wall-pass is her only real mobility; burn it on a mediocre snipe with Ling or Fanny on the map and you're a 2260-HP mage walking home.
Position before fights, not during them (MLBBHub): stand at maximum Recall range near terrain before the contest starts, sphere pre-summoned and already charged. Astral Echo is a vision tool that also fights: fire it into the Lord or Turtle pit and the river bushes *before* your jungler commits — information wins the contest before the snipe does. Her spike is two items: Clock of Destiny + Lightning Truncheon, ~10–12 minutes (MLBBHub). Before it she's inconvenient; after it, a ringed tank eating a full-travel Recall plus a Truncheon proc leaves the fight. After a shove, rotate behind walls.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
The locked core (MLBBHub and Zathong's burst/pro sets agree): Clock of Destiny → Lightning Truncheon, Arcane Boots. Clock wants finishing before you need to fight — its stacks pay you for poking — and Truncheon's Resonate bounce scales off the magic power Clock stacks (MLBBHub). Genius Wand is the default third (both sources run it): its shred stacks with every hit she owns — Meteor ticks, the explosion, the Recall impact. Divine Glaive jumps the queue vs two stacked magic-defense items; vs a no-defense team, raw power pays more (MLBBHub). Blood Wings is the default sixth — a shield plus more power for the Truncheon (both sources); Holy Crystal replaces it when you're ahead and closing. Fleeting Time flexes in for coordinated teams (takedowns refund 30% of Echo's cooldown, MLBBHub). The CDR school (Enchanted Talisman first, Zathong's sustained set) exists, but it delays the spike — and the spike is the hero.
Emblem: Mage — Rupture / Bargain Hunter / Impure Rage (MLBBHub): penetration, tempo gold, mana-fed burn.
Battle spell — a genuine split. Flameshot is MLBBHub's pick and Zathong's usual: max-range damage that synergises with the snipe, and a knockback in a diver's face when Recall is down — peel most players waste. Flicker is the safety school — creator guides call it mandatory into hard dive. My call: Flameshot by default, Flicker the game Ling, Fanny or Natalia shows up.
How to counter her
Two tracker families, one verdict: she's a 2260-HP skillshot mage whose damage lives at range — close the distance or confiscate the shot and she's a ward with a mana bar. MLBBHub's measured counters (refreshed daily): Natalia, Ling and Estes hold the biggest ranked edges; MLBB.io independently names Ling, Hilda and Estes. MLCounter.com's matchup table (small samples — direction, not gospel) prices the dive school: she wins just 42% vs Lolita (180 games), 43% vs Natalia (209), 45% vs Fanny (186), 46% vs Kadita, 48% vs Harley. - Lolita deletes the kit: Guardian's Bulwark blocks her projectiles — the Recall snipe and the Echo shot die on the shield (MLCounter; Zathong; VCGamers). A sniper whose bullets get confiscated is just standing there. - Estes out-heals the poke: Hub and MLBB.io both file him — her damage arrives in pulses with travel time, and a sustain support refunds it between volleys. - Silence and the duel cage: Helcurt's ultimate silences her exactly when Recall is the escape (MLBBHub's avoid list), and Yin's My Turn deletes her range advantage entirely (MLBBHub; VCGamers). - Items: magic-defense stacking — Athena's Shield, Radiant Armor, Oracle, Cursed Helmet (Zathong; MLCounter). - Play patterns (MLCounter): force close-range fights; kill her first; don't stand grouped (everything she owns is an area); don't drag the fight out — long fights are her range's home turf; ambush her when she rotates to gank.
Who she counters — also measured (MLCounter): Miya 58% (108 games), Odette 57% (213), Lancelot 54%, Chou 53%, Aldous 52% — plus the immobile mid school she out-ranges and out-zones all game: Eudora, Aurora, Pharsa (MLBBHub's draft conditions). The fat frontline club — Khufra, Tigreal, any three-defense-item wall — is her happy place: percentage damage doesn't care how tanky you are.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Point-Blank Snipe": Firing Astral Recall the moment the sphere arrives — or summoning it right beside yourself. Travel distance is the damage (up to 2.2×); a close-range launch is playing without her main skill (MLBBHub).
- "The Sidelane Ring": Spending Astral Echo on one sidelane kill minutes before an objective. The ring is the teamfight tool; burn it on a solo and the Lord fight happens without it (MLBBHub).
- "The Panic Walk": Running in open ground when the dive comes instead of spending Recall's burst through terrain. The speed and the wall-pass are the escape — open-field sprinting is how she dies (MLBBHub).
- "The Double Burn": Fighting on after Astral Recall and Flameshot are both spent. No repositioning tools left means the next trade is the enemy's choice, not yours (MLBBHub).
- "The Helcurt Handshake": Initiating into Helcurt. His ultimate silences her mid-sequence and locks the escape she was counting on — play zone denial only and let him come to you (MLBBHub).
FAQ
- Did Novaria change in Season 42? No. Absent from 2.2.16's verified list and blooing's complete roundup; the documented 2.2.16a list excludes her too — anything else is [UNCONFIRMED]. Last touches: Patch 2.1.95's Recall speed rework and 2.1.61's buff package (MLBBHub).
- Why aim the ultimate at the tank? Because Echo deals no damage — it makes the *next* hits unavoidable, and her explosions carry % of Total HP. A ringed Khufra takes percentage damage no matter how much defense he bought (MLBBHub). Squishies were already killable.
- Why does Recall sometimes hit like a truck and sometimes like a pillow? Travel distance. The sphere gains +15% damage per stack from where it was summoned, up to 2.2× — firing it fresh is minimum damage; letting it cross the map first is the snipe (Fandom).
- Flameshot or Flicker? Flameshot by default (MLBBHub; Zathong) — range synergy plus a knockback peel. Flicker when the enemy draft is dive that reaches you through the Recall burst anyway.
- Is she really Hard to play? MLBBHub rates her Hard, and the kit agrees: manual-aim skillshots, damage that depends on your own positioning *before* the shot, and an ultimate that's worthless fired late. The ceiling is a screen away. So is the floor.
Final verdict
Novaria in Season 42 is artillery with paperwork: A-tier letters on MLBB.io and EliteDias, a 49.7–49.8% win rate underneath, and the most honest draft conditions in mid lane. When the enemy brings fat frontliners and an immobile mid, she turns their tank into her target dummy and their formation into a shooting range. When they bring two assassins and a silence, she's a 2260-HP mage whose escape is also her damage.
Play her if: the enemy draft shows two or more high-HP frontliners who can't gap-close, an immobile mid (Eudora, Aurora, Pharsa) to zone, and your own team has a fighter or tank who intercepts dive. Do the boring work — farm the two-item spike, pre-position by walls, Echo for vision first and kills second.
Skip her if: the enemy shows Ling, Fanny, Natalia or Helcurt, your team has no frontline, or you need your mid online before minute ten. Take a lane bully and win early. Novaria doesn't win scrambles. She wins the geometry exam the fight is held in — and invoices the biggest guy on the enemy team for it.
