Vexana MLBB Guide: Her Fiancé Is the Ultimate (Season 42)

A 49.7% win rate the tier lists can't agree on — S to one desk, D to another — and an ultimate that drops her dead fiancé on your escape route. The honest Vexana read.

Minute fifteen, Lord pit, and the enemy team does the polite thing: they line up. Tank in front, marksman behind, everyone marching in through the pit entrance, front-to-back. I don't aim at any of them. I aim at the doorway behind them — and drop a seven-foot undead knight on it. Airborne. Then my Cursed Blast blooms under the tank they're retreating into, my claw catches the one who panics sideways, and she spends a full second terrified. That's Vexana, the Shimmer of Hope, duchess of Necrokeep (Fandom's lore). Per her Mastery Code on Fandom, the knight carries the soul of Duke Atticus, the fiancé she lost on their wedding day. She doesn't bring a plus-one to fights. She brings the wedding.

Why she's feared (and loved)

Fear first: Eternal Guard is not a damage button with a body attached — it's a second frontline that lands with a knock-up. For 15 seconds the knight walks where you point him, swings in a huge arc for damage plus a slice of the target's own HP, and turns every doorway and retreat lane into occupied territory. Teams don't fight Vexana. They fight her zoning, her blast circles, and a dead duke.

Love second: Deathly Grasp is the rudest poke in mid lane. The claw stops on the first hero it touches, terrifies them, and leaves the fear *lingering* — Fandom's fine print says enemies who walk into the terrified hero get terrified too. Her passive makes corpses rude as well: anything she or the knight touches carries Nether Curse — and when it dies, it explodes on its friends.

Season 42 viability: the honest read

Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.

Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Vexana has no balance change. She's absent from the verified adjustment list, and blooing's complete 2.2.16 roundup — buffs, nerfs, tweaks, Classic pass, Brawl columns, read end to end — mentions her zero times. Patch 2.2.16a (14 Oct 2026): the documented list (Kalea buff; Aulus, Hirara, Eudora, Rafaela nerfs) has no Vexana, and with no Fandom page for the sub-patch, any "secret Vexana tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED]. The newest entry on her Fandom patch-history page is old: Patch 1.8.08 trimmed Nether Touch's explosion (220–500 down to 108–500) while buffing Cursed Blast (450–750 up to 580–850).

One history note, because old guides still promise it: the famous puppet — the pre-revamp ultimate that raised a cursed hero as her puppet if they died — was removed in her 28 June 2022 revamp (Fandom's Archives). Today's kit has no puppet.

The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (Season 42, patch 2.2.16a, all ranks, last 7 days; checked 21 Oct 2026): B tier — 49.71% WR, 1.53% pick, 1.16% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated 20 Oct 2026): B tier in Mid Lane — 49.8% WR, 1.5% pick, 1.2% ban. - EliteDias (updated 15 Oct 2026): S tier among mages, same 49.8%. - Pocket Gamer (17 Oct 2026): D tier among Mages — same hero, opposite conclusion. - MLCounter.com (older dataset, page updated Jun 2026): D tier, 40.18% WR — months stale; dissent noted, not averaged.

The chorus: 49.7–49.8% on the two data sites that refresh — an average mid laner by the numbers, an S or a D depending on which desk you ask. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame Vexana threads surfaced this season — tracker/creator material only, and MLBBHub's read is the honest one: a second piece, not a first — draft her behind allied engage, into formation teams. My tier verdict: B-. The B paperwork is real, and so is the minus: everything she owns is a delayed circle, a slow claw or a knight with a landing animation, all needing the enemy to walk where she expects. In the right draft she's a zoning tax collector. Blind, she's a weather forecast nobody has to stand in.

The full kit: what every button does

All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 21 October 2026. Base HP 2481→4406, mana 500→1900, Physical Attack 112→193, MS 245. Moonton ratings (via MLCounter): Durability 2, Offense 9, Control 5 — and she's rated Easy (MLBBHub). All three skills carry a 50% Spell Vamp ratio (Fandom). - Passive — Nether Touch: Vexana and the Eternal Guard inflict Nether Curse on enemies they hit. The curse lasts 5 seconds; when a cursed enemy dies, it explodes, dealing 108 (+38 per hero level) (+60% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage to nearby enemies. Fine print (Fandom): her basics apply and refresh the curse on nearby enemies — autos are curse maintenance, not damage. - Skill 1 — Deathly Grasp: A claw projectile dealing 200–300 (+60% Total Magic Power) to enemies in its path. It stops on the first enemy hero, terrifying them and knocking them back, then explodes for another 200–300 (+60%) to nearby enemies and terrifies them for 1 second. Fine print (Fandom): Purify or CC immunity doesn't remove the *lingering* terrify — enemies who approach the marked hero get terrified themselves. Cooldown 14→11s; mana 80–130. - Skill 2 — Cursed Blast: Marks the target area and strikes it after a 0.8-second delay: 580–850 (+165% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage. Cooldown 7→5.5s; mana 80–130. Her wave clear and her poke — aimed where the enemy is *going*, never where he's standing. - Ultimate — Eternal Guard: Summons the knight at the target location: 480–720 (+60% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and enemies hit knocked airborne for 0.8s. He then fights for 15 seconds. His HP is 1800/2250/2700 plus 100% of Vexana's Total HP; he inherits 100% of her other attributes and her equipment effects, gains +40/50/60 Hybrid Defense and +80/100/120 Magic Power, and each swing deals 200–300 (+40% Total Magic Power) plus 5% of the target's Total HP in a large area. He prioritises heroes, then Vexana's targets and attackers; his attack speed is fixed (~1.1–1.2) and Retribution fully works on him (Fandom). Only one knight at a time — recasting recalls him to her side (recall added in Patch 1.7.08, per blooing). Cooldown 60/53/46s; mana 120–200.

Skill priority, my way: ultimate at 4/8/12, Cursed Blast first (clear, poke, the damage curve — MLBBHub's lane script starts it at level 1), Deathly Grasp second.

Combos

  • "The Layer Cake" (her real combo): allied CC or the knight's landing fixes them in place → Cursed Blast on the spot they now can't leave → Deathly Grasp on the panic angle as they scatter. MLBBHub's whole thesis in one sequence: her buttons become reliable *second*, after movement is forced. Reversed — claw first at a target free to dodge — is how Vexana games go quiet.
  • "The Door Slam" (objective play): Eternal Guard dropped on the pit entrance or the enemy's retreat lane as the fight starts — not on the carry's portrait, on the ground he has to cross. Knock-up buys the second; the knight's body buys fifteen.
  • "The Corpse Tax": basics and knight swings keep Nether Curse refreshed on the frontline — when your team converts the first kill, the corpse explodes into the formation standing around it.

Rotation and map control

Level 1: take Cursed Blast and own the first wave (MLBBHub's lane script). Her lane is won by priority, not solo kills: shove first, step to river first. Deathly Grasp at 2 is saved for the dodge — the direction a target *has* to take after S2 pressure forces movement — not fished as an opener.

Play one layer behind your engager (MLBBHub): Atlas, Tigreal, Khufra, Minotaur, Grock, or a jungler like Alpha or Fredrinn start it; she converts their CC into confirmed space. Too far back and the knight lands late; too far up and the fight starts on a Durability-2 mage. After a clean shove, *move* — arriving first at the side lane or objective entrance is her first real contribution.

The knight has three jobs, by draft: follow-up behind allied CC in engage comps; peel when your roam is an enchanter (Estes, Angela, Floryn, Rafaela — MLBBHub's list) or assassins vanish from vision, parked on your retreat lane; and objective body at Turtle and Lord mouths — though the enemy jungler's Retribution works on him at full value (Fandom), so don't gift-wrap him on a contested Lord. Her spike: Glowing Wand + Wishing Lantern, ~9–11 minutes (MLBBHub) — before it she's wave control plus setup; after it, even tanks pay for her doorways.

Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)

The locked shell (MLBBHub): Arcane Boots → Glowing Wand → Wishing Lantern. Glowing Wand does double duty — every tag becomes burn plus anti-heal, and skipping it into heal/shield frontlines quietly guts the build (MLBBHub). Wishing Lantern cashes the current-HP follow-up her multi-hit combo stacks naturally. MLBBHub's FAQ core adds Blood Wings — eat one bad tag, reset, re-enter. Flex, by lobby (MLBBHub): Divine Glaive vs stacked magic defense; Holy Crystal when your engage is stable; Genius Wand on an early snowball; Winter Crown vs the one fed assassin (Saber, Hayabusa, Aamon, Karina); Tough Boots only into layered CC. The burst school lives too (MuMuPlayer's 2026 build): Clock of Destiny → Lightning Truncheon → Concentrated Energy → Holy Crystal → Divine Glaive — bigger single-combo numbers, less burn-and-zone tax. Formation teams take the shell; squishy lobbies take the burst. Emblem: Mage — Rupture / Wilderness Blessing / Lethal Ignition (MLBBHub's FAQ setup). Battle spell: Flicker (MLBBHub) — no dash in the kit; spend it to live, never to style. Flameshot is the greed alt (MuMuPlayer) for safe matchups.

How to counter her

Two tracker families, one verdict: she is a Durability-2 mage with no dash whose kit is delayed, telegraphed circles — get close, burst her, never queue up in her doorways. MLBBHub's measured counters (refreshed daily): Alice, Marcel and Benedetta hold the biggest ranked edges. MLCounter's matchup table (older, small samples — direction, not gospel) names the mobility school: she wins just 42% vs Chou (325 games), 43% vs Lylia (489), 44% vs Natalia (288), 45% vs Kagura (377), 47% vs Kadita (268). MLBBHub's draft warnings agree: Kadita, Kagura, Harith, Saber and Aamon delete her on contact or slip out after forcing cooldowns — double dive is the hard counter. - Items: magic defense stacking — Athena's Shield, Radiant Armor, Oracle, Cursed Helmet (MLCounter); Winter Crown to sit out her combo entirely (MLCounter). - Play patterns (MLCounter): don't clump — every skill she owns is an area; kill Vexana, not the knight — he's an HP sponge with her whole health bar baked in, and trading your combo into him is the trap; when she summons, retreat and wait out the 15 seconds; steal her blue buff early (she's mana-hungry); stand behind minions against the claw — it stops on the *first hero*, not the first body. - Purify note: MLCounter recommends Purify against her Skill 1 — Fandom's caveat: immunity doesn't strip the lingering terrify off the hero she already tagged. Who she counters — also measured (MLCounter): Miya 57% (357 games), Sun 56% (299), Clint 54% (355), Layla 52% (358), Johnson 52% (388). Immobile, formation-bound heroes — MLBBHub's draft rule exactly.

Mistakes everyone makes

  • "The Opener Claw": Throwing Deathly Grasp first, from max range, because it feels like engage (MLBBHub). It's the punish, not the opener — cold, it asks the enemy to make a mistake; after forced movement, it collects one.
  • "The Portrait Ult": Dropping Eternal Guard on the carry's current position instead of the doorway he has to cross (MLBBHub). The knock-up matters; the fifteen seconds of occupied retreat lane matter more.
  • "The Idle Mid": Clearing the wave and standing in mid waiting for another trade (MLBBHub). Her first clean contribution is arriving at river first with the wave shoved.
  • "The Chase Flicker": Burning Flicker for a stylish chase or a low-HP runner (MLBBHub). Vexana without Flicker is a public target at the next Turtle fight.
  • "The Habit Build": Full burst by habit into shield-and-heal comps (MLBBHub) — skipping Glowing Wand's anti-heal because a template said so, then wondering why the enemy frontline keeps walking through the knight.

FAQ

  • Where's the puppet? I read she resurrects dead enemies. She did — before her 28 June 2022 revamp. The old ultimate cursed a hero and raised them as her puppet on death; the revamp replaced it with Eternal Guard (Fandom's Archives). Any guide still selling a puppet is four years old.
  • Did Vexana change in Season 42? No. Absent from 2.2.16's verified list and blooing's complete roundup; the documented 2.2.16a list excludes her too — anything else is [UNCONFIRMED]. Newest entry on her Fandom patch-history page: Patch 1.8.08.
  • Why do the tier lists disagree so violently? They measure different things. The live data sites (MLBBHub, MLBBDex) park her at ~49.7–49.8%, B tier. EliteDias files S on the same win rate; Pocket Gamer files D; MLCounter's older sample says 40.18%. All describe a draft-conditional zoning mage.
  • Knight first, or save him for peel? Follow the draft (MLBBHub): behind an engage roam, he lands on the enemy's route right after their CC connects. With an enchanter roam — or assassins missing from vision — he stays home and peels.
  • Flicker or Flameshot? Flicker by default — her only reposition, and MLBBHub is blunt: spend it to survive, not to style. Flameshot only in safe matchups (MuMuPlayer).

Final verdict

Vexana in Season 42 is a zoning duchess with a paperwork problem: B-tier numbers on the live trackers, an S from one desk and a D from another, and a kit that is entirely area denial wearing a mage's dress. She will not out-duel a diver or win a fight the enemy refuses to walk into. What she does — better than almost any mid — is decide which ground the fight happens on, then bill the enemy for crossing it, her dead fiancé collecting at the door.

Play her if: your team has a first handshake (Atlas, Tigreal, Khufra, Minotaur), the enemy draft wins by standing in formation — immobile marksmen, front-to-back tanks, corridor mids — and you'll do the patient work: shove, arrive first, drop circles on routes instead of portraits.

Skip her if: the enemy shows two divers or cleanse-heavy mobility (Kadita, Kagura, Harith), your roam is an enchanter with no peel and no other engage exists, or you need your mid to make the first play herself. Take a burst mage and start your own fights. Vexana doesn't start fights. She finishes the argument about where they're held — and invoices the enemy a knight for the privilege.
