Somewhere out there is an egg who has cracked me open seventeen times and is currently wearing my yolk like a medal. I've been that egg too — Shell Shockers is the most dishonest-looking serious shooter on the internet: a free browser FPS where the soldiers are eggs, the arenas are kitchen-themed warzones, and absolutely nobody is joking around. It is massive in school Chromebook culture, which means half your lobby is squeezing in matches between lessons and playing like their grade depends on it. Here is the community wisdom — scraped from forums, lobbies, and far too many of my own embarrassing deaths — so you can stop being somebody's omelette.

Pick the right shell

The EggK-47 is the community's answer to "what should I start with?" — the best all-rounder in the game and the recommended starter weapon, full stop. It kills at every range, forgives shaky aim, and teaches you the game's rhythm. Once you've found your feet, the going advice is to match the gun to the mood: the Scrambler shotgun rules close quarters (corners, corridors, anyone foolish enough to chase you), the Free Ranger sniper is for the precise players who like their kills long-range and their killcams humiliating, and the Whipper SMG belongs to the hyper-mobile maniacs who jump-and-strafe through firefights like caffeinated squirrels. Try them all, but learn the EggK-47 first — players swear by it as the one gun that never lies to you.

The golden rule: never stand still

Standing still in Shell Shockers is volunteering for the frying pan. The golden rule, repeated in every lobby and guide worth reading, is never stand still — strafe constantly, jump to throw off enemy aim, and treat every doorway like it's already loaded. Movement is your armour here.

Yolk 'em

Aim for the head. In this community the verb is *yolk* — "I yolked three of them on the roof" — and the players who yolk consistently are the players who top the boards. Headshots end arguments faster than anything else in the game, so train your crosshair to sit at head height and stop aiming at feet like a coward.

Learn the maps

Map knowledge is free elo, as the veterans say. Learn where the sniper spots are (so you can check them, or become the menace camping them), and memorise the health-pack spawns — fights in this game are won by the egg that ducks out, heals up, and comes back with a full shell and full opinions. The scene is silly, but it is seriously competitive. Treat it like one.
