PEAK Hits PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 on Oct 22 — the $6.99 Friendship-Ending Climb

PEAK, the 10M+ co-op climbing hit, launches on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on Oct 22 with full crossplay and all content included.

Picture this. It's 1 a.m. You're dangling off a cliff by a single rope, your health bar is doing the dying-bee dance, and the only thing between you and the summit is Dave — your best friend of nine years — who is currently hanging off the same rope *below* you, swinging like a human pendulum and laughing so hard he can't climb.

That was PEAK on PC. On October 22, it's coming for your console.

If you somehow missed it: PEAK is the co-op climbing game Aggro Crab and Landfall cooked up from a one-month game jam in South Korea and released on Steam in June 2025. Four lost nature scouts. One mountain. Four biomes. Proximity voice chat so you can hear your friends scream in spatial audio when you let go of the rope. It quietly went on to sell more than 10 million copies — one of the biggest indie success stories of 2025 — and now the whole thing is landing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. All at once. For $6.99.

Let me say that again: $6.99. That's less than the pizza you order while rage-climbing.

Here's what console players are actually getting, because "ports" usually means "we ripped the good parts out." Not here:

  • Full crossplay across everything. PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 *and* the 10 million lunatics already on Steam. Your friend with the PS5 can climb with your friend on PC. No walled gardens, no "sorry, you're on the wrong plastic box." This is the headline and Aggro Crab knows it — crossplay was the number one question everyone asked, and the answer is yes.
  • Every content update included. Console doesn't get the launch-day version; it gets the *current* version. New biomes — Gloom, Mesa, Roots — all the post-launch items, and the "Final Ascent" alternate ending, which demands you hunt down four gems across the game like some kind of frostbitten Infinity War.
  • Proximity chat intact. This matters more than anything on that list. PEAK without hearing your friend's voice get quieter as he falls into a crevasse is just… hiking. Nobody wants hiking.
  • A mountain that changes every 24 hours. Log in tomorrow and the route your group memorized is gone. It's the game's way of saying your strategies are cute.

And if you're the physical-media holdout — first of all, respect — there's a PS5 physical edition coming in December for $19.99. Disc, a passport kit, and here's the genius part: a Buddy Code for a free digital copy. They know you're buying it for a friend. They *know* this is a four-person game and nobody climbs alone.

The honest take: most "viral indie hits" do not survive contact with console controllers. This one will. PEAK was never about frame-perfect inputs — it's about grabbing a ledge, grabbing a friend, and the five seconds of pure, stupid physics comedy when neither works. The Switch 2, in particular, is the sleeper winner here: four-player handheld co-op, voice chat in your ear, a mountain that changes daily. That's a commute game with main-character energy.

So: October 22. $6.99. Rally the group chat now, because once the mountain opens, the person who said "five more minutes" will still be there at 3 a.m., dangling off a cliff, begging Dave not to let go of the rope.

Dave will let go of the rope.
