Dyrroth MLBB Guide: The Prince Who Melts Tanks (Season 42)
Dyrroth skipped Season 42's patch notes and sits at 49% win rate — the prince whose shred makes tanks into mages. Spectre Step combos, builds, counters.
Their Khufra has 4,000 HP, two armor items and the confidence of a man who has never been punished. He bounces into my lane like the fight is already decided. Then my Spectre Step lands, his Physical Defense drops by 60%, and the tank discovers he was a mage wearing a Halloween costume. Two seconds later Abysm Strike takes a fifth of everything he's already lost, and the bounce becomes a funeral.
That's Dyrroth. Welcome in. He's the Prince of the Abyss, the stolen Moniyan prince Silvanna keeps calling "brother" while he tries to delete her empire — and in Season 42, with tank junglers back on the menu, he is the EXP laner who looks at your frontline the way a can opener looks at lunch. Nobody buffed him. He just waited for the meta to dress his food in armor.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Fear first: Dyrroth is one of the few heroes whose damage gets *better* the more defense you buy. His enhanced Spectre Step shreds 60% of a target's Physical Defense for 4 seconds, and Abysm Strike adds 20% of the enemy's *lost* HP on top of a giant base number — the tankier and more wounded you are, the harder the execute hits. There is no item that answers "what if my armor stopped existing?"
Love second: the loop is beautifully stupid. Hit things twice, Circle Strike spins out and heals you, your cooldowns shrink every time you touch a hero, your Rage fills, and suddenly both skills come back supercharged. He is a snowball with wrist blades — feast or famine, no refunds — and his players wouldn't have it any other way.
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Paperwork first — this is where guides lie to you.
Patch 2.2.16 (released 16 September 2026): Dyrroth is not on the adjustment list. I checked the full verified list — Masha and Bruno revamps plus 22 adjustments (Aulus, Argus, Aldous, Paquito and Kaja among them) — and his name appears nowhere in it. MLBBHub dates his last buff to patch 2.1.67, well before this season.
Patch 2.2.16a (14 October 2026): The documented changes are a Kalea buff and nerfs to Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela — no Dyrroth in any roundup. But no official Fandom page exists for the sub-patch, so any "secret Dyrroth tweak" claim stays [UNCONFIRMED] until Moonton prints one.
One warning before the numbers: half the internet still prints his shred as 50%, or 75% enhanced — retired values. Current Fandom and esports.gg both say 40% base, 60% enhanced; that's what this guide uses.
The trackers, dated (community snapshots, not Moonton figures): - MLBB.io (updated 20 Oct 2026): A tier, 49.0% WR, 1.8% pick rate. - MLBBDex (tier list updated Oct 2026): 48.8% WR, 1.8% pick, 1.6% ban. MLCounters (Oct 2026): 48.94% WR, rank #84. EliteDias (15 Oct 2026): S tier bracket at 48.9% — the optimist. Pocket Gamer (Oct 2026): D tier among Fighters — the editorial grudge. - MLCounter.com's 53.17% "S tier" comes from a page last updated in August — stale; ignore it.
So the fresh chorus sings 48.8–49.0%, and the letters argue A vs S vs D depending on who's holding the pen. Sentiment: no fresh r/MobileLegendsGame threads surfaced this season, so this is labelled tracker/creator material: esports.gg calls him the game's premier tank buster who "falls off if you perform really badly in the early game," and MLBB.io flags him "Strong & Spammed" — one of the most-picked EXP laners around. My tier verdict: B−. Not a blind pick — a job application. Into armor-stacking frontlines and tank junglers (Season 42's house special) he's a genuine A-grade answer; into dash-heavy dive or layered CC he's a squishy melee with one dash and no way home. The minus is for how hard he faceplants when the early game goes wrong.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the MLBB Fandom hero page, checked 20 October 2026. Rage is his resource — no mana. Base HP 2758→5768, Physical Attack 117→266.
- Passive — Wrath of the Abyss: When Rage reaches 50%, Burst Strike and Spectre Step become Abyss Enhanced (each enhanced cast spends the Rage). After every 2 basic attacks, Dyrroth releases Circle Strike: (+160% Total Physical Attack) Physical Damage in a circle, regenerating 50 HP + 40% of the damage dealt (halved vs minions; it can crit and benefits from Physical Lifesteal). Every hit on an enemy hero cuts Burst Strike and Spectre Step cooldowns by 1 second. *Practical note: he wins long trades and loses short ones — the kit pays you to stay in.*
- Skill 1 — Burst Strike: A burst in a line: 200–450 (+60% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage per burst, 25% slow for 1.5s. Flat 5s cooldown. Damage decays against the same target (repeat hits drop to 30%) and falls to 75% on minions. Abyss Enhanced: longer range, 140% of the original damage across more bursts, slow doubled. *Practical note: your poke, wave clear and Rage refund — it regens 10 Rage per enemy hit.*
- Skill 2 — Spectre Step: Dash in a direction; he stops on the first non-minion target, dealing 230–355 (+60% Extra Physical Attack) with a knockback. Recast: he locks on and unleashes Fatal Strike — 345–570 (+120% Extra Physical Attack) total across 3 hits — shredding the target's Physical Defense by 40% for 4 seconds. Cooldown 8.0→4.0s. Abyss Enhanced: Fatal Strike deals 150% damage, adds a 90% slow for 1s, and the shred rises to 60%. *Practical note: this is the whole hero. No shred, no kill window.*
- Ultimate — Abysm Strike: After a short delay he launches a destructive strike in a line: 650–1250 (+250% Extra Physical Attack) plus 20% of each enemy's lost HP, with a 55% slow for 0.8s. Cooldown 36/32/28. Per Fandom, the strike cannot be interrupted once it launches — but the wind-up leaves him standing still, and that delay is your dodge window. *Practical note: never open with it. It's an execute priced off damage already done.*
Skill priority, my way: ultimate whenever offered, Burst Strike first (the poke and Rage engine — MLBBHub's current page agrees the post-buff hero leans S1), Spectre Step second.
Combos
- "The Can Opener" (the standard): Bank Rage to 50%+ on the wave first. Spectre Step in → basics → recast Spectre Step for Fatal Strike and the 60% shred → enhanced Burst Strike into the shredded target → Abysm Strike only if they're low. MLBBHub is blunt about the order: shred first, ult second — "reversing the order strips physical defense from a corpse."
- "The Flicker Verdict": Start Abysm Strike, then Flicker during the cast animation to move the strike's origin — MLBBHub notes this repositions where the line lands, so the fleeing carry who sidestepped your ult eats it anyway. The single most satisfying button sequence on this hero.
Rotation and map control
Levels 1–4 (MLBBHub's script): take Burst Strike first — it clears caster minions in one cast and pokes safely. Take Spectre Step at 2 and *don't* spend it fishing; it's your only mobility and the enemy jungler arrives around 2:00. Trade aggressively against melee laners from the second wave (the passive's healing wins attrition wars); against ranged or shield lanes, concede the wave and last-hit with S1 from range.
The spike: Blade of the Heptaseas + Sky Piercer, roughly 8–11 minutes (MLBBHub). Heptaseas' Ambush rewards fog approaches; Sky Piercer's Lethality executes heroes under 4% HP, the threshold growing 0.1% per kill stack up to 12% — a snowballing Dyrroth turns every chip of damage into a kill confirm. Miss the window by two minutes and you're a "secondary threat" in late teamfights (MLBBHub's words).
Mid game: engage *second*, always. Your shred belongs on the target your carries are already hitting, and your ult belongs on somebody already bleeding. If the draft gives you no frontline, split-push: he eats turrets fine (Circle Strike deals full basic-attack damage to them) and picks the isolated defender who rotates over. What you never do is walk at five people because Rage is full and the voices said go.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
The core (esports.gg, MLBBHub and LootBar all land here): Blade of the Heptaseas → Sky Piercer. Burst opener plus execute passive — the two-item identity. Third/fourth slot is a real fork (MLBBHub): Sea Halberd vs sustain and shield comps (Lifebane cuts healing/shield gain to 60% for 3s — the Esmeralda/Yu Zhong/Uranus answer), Malefic Roar vs a conventional armor frontline (its penetration scales off the *target's* Physical Defense — made for each other). One anti-heal source only: Dominance Ice is the defensive swap for secondary initiators, and its aura Lifebane doesn't stack with Sea Halberd's. Then: Hunter Strike (50% movement speed after 5 damage instances — Circle Strike feeds it constantly; skipping it is MLBBHub's "most common midgame build mistake") → Immortality, or Rose Gold Meteor vs magic burst. Blade of Despair is a closer when you're already winning, not a plan. Boots: Warrior Boots vs two or more physical threats (MLBBHub's typical), Tough Boots when the magic/CC count demands it, Rapid Boots for jungle rotations (esports.gg). A sustain variant (War Axe → Queen's Wings → Oracle) circulates in creator builds — playable, not the tracked consensus.
Emblem: the sources genuinely split. Guide consensus (esports.gg, LootBar, MLBBHub) runs Assassin — Rupture, then Master Assassin (+7% damage on isolated targets) or Festival of Blood, then Lethal Ignition or Killing Spree. But MLBB.io's aggregated data (33 tracked builds, Oct 2026) shows Fighter in the majority: Thrill / Festival of Blood / Brave Smite. My take: Assassin when you hunt isolated targets, Fighter when you're the one getting hunted.
Battle spell: also split. MLBB.io's builds tie Flicker and Petrify at 27% each. esports.gg calls Petrify the lane pick (it holds targets inside your combo), Vengeance the survival option; Flicker is the ceiling play for the ult redirect. Retribution is mandatory in the jungle. My take: Flicker by default, Petrify into lanes you can already reach.
How to counter him
Two tracker families, and they don't fully agree — that's useful, so here it is straight. MLBBHub's counter page (esports.gg agreeing): Esmeralda is the hard counter — Dyrroth's win rate against her sits at 41% on Hub's numbers. Then Phoveus (every Spectre Step dash feeds his passive — Hub lists dashing into him as a named Dyrroth mistake), Guinevere (her S2 clone eats the Fatal Strike lock-on), Chou (Shunpo's immunity eats the combo), and Minsitthar (King's Calling grounds every dash — inside the field, Spectre Step's recast doesn't exist). MLCounters and MLBB.io, measuring EXP-lane data (Oct 2026), name a different podium: Masha, Argus and Thamuz — duelists who out-sustain his burst window. One honest disagreement: MLCounters' lane data says Dyrroth *wins* the EXP lane against Esmeralda, even while Hub and esports.gg call her his hardest game-long counter. Both can be true — lane trades are not teamfights, and her shields shrug off his shred when it matters most.
Items (both tracker families agree): Dominance Ice first (armor + anti-heal), Antique Cuirass, Twilight Armor, Wind of Nature (2s of physical immunity eats the ult), Sea Halberd / Glowing Wand vs his Circle Strike healing, Winter Crown to blank the burst. Play patterns: (1) Don't loiter below 50% HP in his lane — his ult is priced off your lost HP. (2) You can't interrupt the ult once it launches, but the wind-up is a standing tell: sidestep the *line*, or Wind of Nature it. Save stuns for Spectre Step — regular CC stops the dash cold and strands him with no way out (MLBBHub). (3) Fight him at 0 Rage: bait the enhanced casts onto the wave, then go. (4) Kite: after Spectre Step is spent he has no second mobility skill and zero CC immunity; Purify cleanses his slows if you have no dash (MLBBHub).
Mistakes everyone makes
- "Ult First, Questions Later": Firing Abysm Strike before Fatal Strike applies the shred. MLBBHub calls skipping the recast the single most common combo error — you donate roughly a third of your burst.
- "Fighting Naked": Engaging under 50% Rage because the enemy *looked* killable. Un-enhanced Dyrroth is a regular fighter; enhanced Dyrroth is a war crime. Bank Rage on creeps first — esports.gg's whole combo section is this sentence.
- "Spectre Step as a Lifestyle": Dashing in on cooldown, into unspent enemy CC, with no exit. The dash stops on the first non-minion it touches — in a teamfight, that's their tank, in front of their whole team.
- "Diving the Backline First": You're not the engage. No CC immunity, one dash, an ult that wants pre-damaged targets — you're the second man in or the first corpse in. (And rush Blade of Despair third because a montage did it, and you're neither.)
FAQ
- EXP lane or jungle? Both are tracked (MLBB.io and MLBBDex list EXP · Jungle). EXP is the default home; jungle Dyrroth swaps in Retribution and can greed into a Haas's Claws/Berserker's Fury crit path when ahead (MLBBHub) — a closing build, not a standard one.
- Why does everyone argue about his shred — 60% or 75%? Because old guides never die. 50%/75% was the historical figure (ONE Esports was still printing 75% in counter pieces); the current Fandom page and esports.gg both list 40% base / 60% enhanced. Trust the current page.
- Flicker or Petrify? Genuinely tied in tracked builds (27% each, MLBB.io). Flicker = ult redirects and an escape he otherwise lacks. Petrify = guaranteed combo completion against laners who can't dodge you anyway.
- Can you interrupt his ultimate? No — per Fandom the strike cannot be interrupted once launched, and MLBBHub adds that only Suppression cancels the cast. What you *can* do is dodge the line during its wind-up, or CC him before he starts it.
- Who does Dyrroth actually beat? Armor-stackers and immobile physical laners. MLCounters' lane data has him winning against Uranus and Alice, and MLBBHub's draft notes green-light him into squishy low-mobility EXP picks and dive comps built around one tanky initiator. (Difficulty: medium — official 5/10 per MLBB.io. Easy buttons; the discipline is Rage and combo order.)
Final verdict
Dyrroth in Season 42 is a 49%-win-rate specialist with the best answer in the game to "what if their tank never dies?" Moonton ignored him in 2.2.16, the trackers file him anywhere from S to D tier, and both extremes describe real games: fed at minute nine, he's a can opener with an execute; behind at minute nine, a cautionary tale with nice hair. He doesn't scale into safety — he scales into violence or irrelevance, and your first four minutes choose which.
Play him if: the enemy drafts armor (tank jungle, beefy EXP, double frontline), your team brings engage to hold targets still, and you can be trusted to farm Rage before highlights.
Skip him if: the enemy shows Esmeralda, Phoveus or Minsitthar, their CC is layered, or you need an EXP laner who's useful from behind. Dyrroth from behind isn't a fighter — he's a 0/5 prince writing apology letters to his own jungle.
