Aldous MLBB Guide: One Punch, One Thousand Stacks (Season 42)
Aldous got a real buff in 2.2.16 — his stack cap jumped from 650 to 1,000 and he finally collects them at adult speed. The one-punch build, the farm discipline, and when the punch actually lands.
Minute nineteen. My team is down six thousand gold, our marksman has typed "defeat" in all chat, and I have been a ghost in the side lane for a quarter of an hour — farming, stacking, ignoring every ping that wasn't a cannon wave. Then their Layla steps one screen too far forward to clear mid. I press the button. The whole map lights up, I pick her face out of five, and Aldous airlines delivers me directly into her afternoon. One punch. Not a combo. One. Her health bar doesn't drop — it gets repossessed.
That is Aldous in Season 42. The game gives you nineteen minutes of being bullied and one punch of pure justice — and this season Moonton shortened the sentence. Let me show you the most honest contract in Mobile Legends.
Why he's feared (and loved)
Because his damage is a savings account. Every last-hit with Contract: Soul Steal is a deposit: permanent bonus damage on the punch, stacked to a cap Season 42 raised to 1,000. No other hero walks into minute twenty carrying a number he personally farmed all game and converts it, in one basic attack, into a deletion. Squishies don't fear Aldous early. They fear the clock.
And Contract: Chase Fate is the delivery service. Global vision of every enemy for 5 seconds, then a dash to whoever you choose — across the map, interrupting recalls. There is no "he can't reach me" on this map. There is only "he hasn't chosen me yet."
Season 42 viability: the honest read
Patch 2.2.16 (16 September 2026) gave him a labelled BUFF — I read the full Fandom patch notes. Moonton's stated intent: EXP laners need to matter in early skirmishes, and Aldous's stack reliance "forced him to farm passively in the early game, leaving him completely out of sync with the team's pace." The changes:
- Passive: the shield now arrives on your next basic attack every 8 seconds (previously tied to the 3rd basic attack, 5s cooldown), base shield 500 → 350, and NEW: gaining the shield grants 60% extra Movement Speed for 1 second.
- Skill 1: NEW — landing the enhanced punch on an enemy hero grants 5 stacks even without the kill, and you gain 20% Movement Speed toward enemy heroes while it's active. Stack income rose across the board: hero kills 10 → 12, Siege Minion kills 10 → 12, other non-hero kills 4 → 5, nearby Siege Minion deaths 5 → 6. Stack cap 650 → 1,000 — but bonus damage per stack dropped 5 → 3.
- Skill 2: the Movement Speed boost is REMOVED, but its damage doubled: base 100–200 → 200–300, max 200–400 → 400–600.
Do the maths on that trade: the old cap gave 650 × 5 = 3,250 bonus damage; the new one gives 1,000 × 3 = 3,000. The ceiling is slightly LOWER. What you bought is speed — stacks arrive from hero hits and fatter cannon payments, so the punch comes online minutes earlier. One honest flag: the Fandom hero page still shows several pre-patch values in places, so where it and the patch note disagree, the patch note wins.
Patch 2.2.16a: no Aldous change appears in any 2.2.16a coverage I could find (that patch nerfed Aulus, Hirara, Eudora and Rafaela and buffed Kalea), and Fandom has no 2.2.16a page — so any "secret Aldous tweak in 2.2.16a" claim is [UNCONFIRMED].
The trackers, dated (community data, not official Moonton figures): - MLBBHub (viewed 20 Oct 2026): 50.5% win rate, 0.4% pick, 0.6% ban. - MLBBDex (tier list updated ~19 Oct 2026): 50.7% win rate in EXP, 0.4% pick, 0.5% ban. - MLCounter (updated 3 Oct 2026): a much sunnier 53.99% win rate and an S-tier label, with pick 0.46% and ban 0.07%. - EliteDias (updated ~15 Oct 2026, built on MLBBhub data): B tier among Fighters. Pocket Gamer (17 Oct 2026): A tier among Fighters. - MLBB.GG and MLBBGuides published no Aldous figures I could reach this session — reported, not hidden.
Read that spread properly: everyone agrees he's a 0.4%-pick ghost with a win rate at or above 50. Timesaver's Season 42 ban guide groups him with Aulus and Argus as the buffed trio who are "strong by win rate" with tiny ban rates — sleeper picks, dangerous but not oppressive. Sentiment: no fresh Season 42 r/MobileLegendsGame threads surfaced this session, so this is creator/tracker sentiment, labelled: the one-punch highlight culture is alive (maniac compilations, "1-hit build" shorts everywhere), and pre-buff community forums were calling him "Aldog" and begging for exactly the early-game help 2.2.16 delivered.
My verdict: B+, knocking on A. Not a blind pick — a draft bargain. Into reachable backlines and slow comps he's free power; into layered suppression he's a very committed tourist.
The full kit: what every button does
All mechanics from the Fandom hero page, corrected to Patch 2.2.16 where the patch note overrides it.
- Passive — Contract: Transform: Every 8 seconds, your next basic attack grants a shield of 350 plus 3 per Soul Steal stack, lasting 3 seconds — and gaining it gives you 60% bonus Movement Speed for 1 second. *Practical note: the shield is your trade timer. Walk in when it's up, walk out when it's spent.*
- Skill 1 — Contract: Soul Steal: Cooldown 4 seconds, flat. Enhances your next basic attack for 5 seconds: 200–450 (+100% Total Physical Attack) plus 3 per stack, +20% Movement Speed toward enemy heroes while primed, and you lunge to the target. The base and stack damage cannot crit. Against minions and creeps it deals 300% extra base damage. Kills with it pay: 12 stacks for an enemy hero, Lord or Turtle; 10 for a turret; 12 for a Siege Minion; 5 for any other non-hero unit. Nearby non-hero deaths still pay you: 6 for a Siege Minion, 2 for others. NEW in 2.2.16: merely hitting an enemy hero with the punch pays 5 stacks. Cap: 1,000 stacks. *Practical note: the siege minion is worth a hero's ransom early. Guard your cannon last-hits with your life.*
- Skill 2 — Contract: Explosion: Cooldown 12–9.5 seconds. Take a defensive stance for up to 2 seconds: 30% damage reduction and immunity to basic attacks. When it ends (or you cancel it), you deal damage around you — 200–300 minimum, scaling up to 400–600 the longer you held the stance — and stun nearby enemies for 0.5–1 second, also scaling with stance time. The old Movement Speed boost is gone in 2.2.16. *Practical note: this is a seatbelt, not a steering wheel. Hold it for the enemy's answer, not your entrance.*
- Ultimate — Contract: Chase Fate: Cooldown 60/55/50 seconds. First cast reveals ALL enemy heroes for 5 seconds. Recast during that window to dash across the map to one chosen hero: impact deals 400–750 plus 8% of the target's total HP as physical damage, with a 1-second knockback, and it interrupts Recall and Arrival mid-flight. Only suppression can stop the dash itself — but per Fandom's notes, a well-timed Grock wall can body-block the landing, and you can recast to cancel into a short blink instead. *Practical note: the reveal is half the spell. Sometimes the correct dash is no dash.*
Skill priority: Ultimate whenever offered, Soul Steal first max (it IS the hero), Explosion last.
Combos
- "The Delivery" (pickoff): Charge Soul Steal → Chase Fate reveal → choose the isolated carry → recast and fly → land, punch immediately → Explosion to absorb the counter-burst and stun → punch again. Punch first, seatbelt second — MLBBHub is explicit about reversing the instinct to open with Skill 2.
- "The Cannon Tax" (lane): Thin the wave with plain basics, hold Soul Steal until the Siege Minion is executable, collect your 12. If the enemy laner walks up to deny it, Explosion through their trade, take the cannon anyway, and leave on your passive's speed burst.
- "The Handshake" (short trade): Shield up → walk in with Soul Steal primed (the 20% speed toward heroes helps you stick) → punch them — 5 stacks just for landing it now → back out before the shield expires. Repeat until the maths embarrasses them.
- "The Bluff" (information): Cast Chase Fate and DON'T recast. Five seconds of full-map vision: count their bodies, pressure a recall by reputation alone, keep the dash for the fight that matters.
Rotation and map control
Your first eight minutes are an accounting job. Thin waves with basic attacks, execute with Soul Steal, treat every Siege Minion like a tiny Lord. MLBBHub's framing is correct: Aldous wins lane through stack income, not through killing the enemy laner — a trade that costs you a cannon wave is a loss even if you "won" the HP exchange. The 2.2.16 tools (shield timer, punch-hit stacks, hero-chase speed) let you answer a bully now, but they are permission to trade, not to brawl.
The spike is War Axe plus a stack count the backline respects — MLBBHub puts that window around 10–12 minutes in a clean game. Before it, Chase Fate is vision, cleanup and punish. After it, your ult reveal alone herds carries into their frontline's pockets. Split the side lane while ult is up, show just enough to pull an answer, arrive when the fight splits. While the ult is down, go back to farming — an Aldous in a mid-lane staring contest is a melee minion with lore.
Best build, emblem, and battle spell (Season 42)
MLBBHub's current consensus — older build sites broadly agree on items, argue on emblems:
- Boots: Tough Boots default — you land directly into crowd control and need to act after arrival. Warrior Boots only into low-CC, physical-heavy drafts. - Core: - War Axe — cooldown reduction, HP, spell vamp, attack: the tempo item that keeps the farm-and-trade loop alive. First major item. - Thunder Belt — turns your constant skill-into-basic rhythm into true damage plus a slow, with mixed defences for repeated side-lane trades. - Endless Battle — the other post-skill true-damage engine, with lifesteal sustain; the direct route. - Blade of Despair — the damage ceiling when the enemy backline is genuinely reachable and you're ahead. - Flex, read the lobby: - Malefic Roar — when armour is what's actually blocking your kills. - Hunter Strike — snowball slot only; the speed burst after a kill is your exit. - Immortality — when one revive swings a Lord fight or a dive goes wrong. - Athena's Shield / Radiant Armor — front-loaded magic burst / sustained magic ticks. - Antique Cuirass — physical skill burst. Queen's Wings — bruiser games where you live on low HP. - Emblem — the actual debate: MLBBHub's current pick is Fighter emblem: Firmness, Festival of Blood, Brave Smite — durability and spell vamp for a hero whose fights now last longer than one punch. The older guide school (Zathong, Dunia Games) runs Assassin emblem — Agility, Invasion, Killing Spree — penetration for a pure one-shot profile. My take: Fighter for EXP lane in Season 42; Assassin is a snowball luxury from a meta where Aldous never traded at all. - Battle spell: Flicker default — reposition the landing, chase the survivor, escape the collapse. Sprint is a legitimate alternative (MLBBHub again) into slow-heavy chase-down comps, and it protects the stacking plan. Retribution only if you're jungling him, which is a different article's problem.
How to counter him
Two trackers, two angles, same hero-shaped hole. MLBBHub's measured counters are Esmeralda (ignores his shield economy and out-sustains the lane), Angela (her attach turns his chosen target into a protected asset mid-flight), and Cyclops (kiting and sustained damage he can't answer early). MLCounter's matchup data (3 Oct 2026) shows his worst win rates into Melissa (42%), Chou (44%), Kadita (46%) and Kaja (47%) — mobility, displacement and suppression, the three languages his punch doesn't speak. His feasts, for honesty: Natalia (59% for Aldous), Layla (57%), Gord and Pharsa — immobile backliners. Draft accordingly.
The patterns matter more than the picks. Starve the account: freeze his wave, invade his side, make every cannon cost him health. CC the landing, not the flight — only suppression stops the dash, but everything stops the fighter who just arrived alone. Itemise the punch away: Twilight Armor and Antique Cuirass blunt the big single hit (MLCounter's top answers), Wind of Nature deletes two seconds of his physical damage, Winter Crown makes his chosen target not exist for the punch. And end on schedule: a game closed by minute fifteen never meets the 1,000-stack version of this man.
Mistakes everyone makes
- "The Cannon Is Optional": Brawling the enemy laner while your Siege Minion dies to the tower. You traded 12 stacks for a slap. The wave is the job.
- "First Low Health Bar I See": Ulting the 20%-HP support inside four teammates. The reveal shows you EVERYONE — count the suppression and peel before booking the flight.
- "Seatbelt as Steering Wheel": Opening with Explosion, then having no damage reduction when the counter-engage lands. Punch first, stance second.
- "Six Damage Items into Kaja": Full-glass Aldous into layered control gets exactly one punch, then a grey screen. Buy the defence that answers the first lockout.
- "Guilt Grouping": Standing mid with your team while Chase Fate is down because you feel bad. Go farm the side lane. Your team drafted the timer, not a spectator.
FAQ
When is Aldous actually online? With War Axe finished and a real stack count — around the 10–12 minute window in a clean game, per MLBBHub. Before that you're an investment, not a threat.
Did the 1,000-stack cap make him stronger late? Not exactly — per-stack damage fell 5 → 3, so the max bonus is 3,000 instead of 3,250. The buff is speed: stacks now come from hero hits and richer minion payments, so scary numbers arrive minutes earlier.
Fighter or Assassin emblem? Fighter (Firmness / Festival of Blood / Brave Smite) is the current MLBBHub consensus for EXP. Assassin is the older one-shot school — fine when snowballing, fragile when not.
Flicker or Sprint? Flicker by default. Sprint into comps that beat you with slows and chase-down pressure, where a long escape beats a short blink.
Can his ultimate be stopped? The dash itself only by suppression — but he can be CC'd and bursted on landing, Grock's wall can interrupt the flight path, and he can cancel the dash himself. Never fly into an uncounted team.
Is he worth a ban? No — ban rates sit at 0.07–0.6% across trackers. He's a sleeper, not an oppressor. Beat him with draft and wave control; save your ban.
Final verdict
My honest tier take: B+ in Season 42, with A-tier games sitting right there whenever the draft hands him a reachable backline. Patch 2.2.16 didn't make Aldous early-game — it made his early game survivable, his income faster and his contract enforceable from minute ten instead of minute twenty. The punch kept its identity; the wait got shorter.
Play him if: you can farm a cannon wave while a teamfight happens without you, you enjoy being the reason enemy carries hug their tanks, and you can count bodies during a 5-second reveal before committing to a flight.
Skip him if: you need agency from minute one, your team drafts like every game ends at twelve minutes, or you ult first and read the map later. Aldous is a contract: farm quietly, arrive once, collect in full.
